It’s Hella cool to see more and more people saving these things instead of trashing them or parting them out, keep your eye out I got a 92 650 and a 85 440 for 400 ! Off marketplace Some people still throw them away keep your eye out!
I bought an ole Kawasaki js550 of my uncle for one HELL of a deal. I’ve tried to get it running It seems it’s either flooded or has bad fuel. My uncle neglected the ski for a long time. Fast forward to present Time I still can’t get it running.
Put a 0.30 welding tip in the return line. That isn't a fuel pump they bypassed on the hull it's the rev limiter. Fuel pump on a Mikuni BN38 is in the carb.
or 65R Kawasaki brass jet. If they still have them/make them. you need the restrictor to prevent the carb from sending all excess fuel back to the tank through the return, that's the line coming out from closest to the battery......... no pill/restrict, no continued running/idling. : (
@@CocosPlayound Motor is supposed to be a fresh build from previous owner and passed a leak down test since being in my ownership. So I haven't pulled the motor just yet. If I come up with anything new I'll be sure to shoot ya a message
Any progress yet? I know if you remove the rev limiter you need to install a fitting to slow down the return line. Mines having close to the same problem. Rebuilt carb, rebuilt engine from reliable gentleman. Leaning to spark plug cable replacement with new coils from jetskisolutions maybe ? Last start had a very loud pop but I checked timing and woodruff all good
Think I might be working on that ski this week. I have narrowed down to stator. I hear it can be not adjusted correctly or just bad and only puts out when it wants 😂 I’ll be doing an ohm test and replacing if bad.

I still have my 92 550SX. but it's been garaged for 20 years. 😔

What is it doing
True

Put your hand over the carb and it’ll suck fuel immediately
You deff need to fix the air leak.. Tank wont pressurize.
I'm dealing with the same exact problem with one of my 550s.... I'm still scratching my head lol
I have came to the conclusion it is probably crank seals so I’m doing them. Have you change that on yours or no?

@@honchomike2323 if it passed they good. Maybe it’s electrical 🤷🏻♂️
You ever figure this out? Just bought one and my ski is doing the exact same thing
Dude we worked on it forever then three other ppl did after I sold it and it still hasn’t been fixed
insufficient vacuum in the crankcase, either piston rings or shaft seals or a gasket in the middle of the crankcase.

I see, Replacing stator with used or rebuilt ?
My stator matches the tick line to have it “aligned” but backfiring like it’s misaligned
What were you priming it with? Pre-mix?
Yes
Any news?
Nope someone wanted it and bought it couldn’t get it to run by itself either
Did it pass a down test
Yes
