In this video I make a TIG welded aluminum camera box .. I recently went to a TIG welding class at Lincon welding school. The aluminum drops are from a fan that makes diesel tanks , I got it 8-9 years ago! I can not remember who sent it if it was you thank you!!! (jimmydiresta@me.com)

There are at least a hundred lessons contained within this vid for even the seasoned craftsman. Amazing, as always.
Very artistically done. Glad the TIG lessons have paid off.
Come on Jimmy. You're better than pitching bs test boosters and fat burners.
Agreed, it’s all worthless😅
let the guy get his bread man, you're enjoying his content for free
Since it’s aluminum you could run a radius on the weld seams. Cut, buff, and polish. But the tig walking looks good too.
So good to be able to make what you need. The cameras have a good spot to be stored.
Good work. If i were to build that box i would waterproof all bolts and holes.Water has a way of finding its way in.
Quite possibly my fav Diresta build!! ❤❤
Very nice I built a walnut box similar to that years ago. Had it six days before someone stole it. I'm still mad
Smashing box Mr Diresta!
Simply Stunning Sir. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Love and Respect from North London UK
Great stuff Jimmy 👌
metal, wood, felt, glue.
all a growing boy needs.
Great job as usual Mr Diresta
Another great work from you! Amazing result! 👏
Beautiful !
Jimmy's tool use skills like Master tier level. 😮😮
love the box, the advertising: not so much.
It really cheapens his image to be shilling for fake testosterone snake oil.
Once again I’m in awe of your imagination and skills 😊
That sure is a shiny box!
Awesome!
Well done
Why the spacers for the lid before welding but not the sides/base?
Sweet!!
Nice!! Any particular reason why the brand is removed from the drill?
You’d also need jointing compound…
Magnificent
Mr diresta bonjour vous allez bein je vous regarde tous les jours ❤
Tigging .100" clean aluminum is like eating cake........under a heat lamp 😁
You got that right!
I love it, especially how you left the welds. I was thinking it would be better to sand it to a brushed finish to hide scratches, but now that I see it, I really like it. Scratches happen, but that doesn’t mean we have to hide them, or enjoy something while it lasts.
If you’ve got time, I’ve got a question…
I hope it’s not offensive to ask, because I really love your technique for box joints, but have you ever thought about building Matthias wandel’s box joint jig? Not that there’s anything wrong with the way you do it, I just wonder if it’s something you’ve thought about. I’d love to see if there’s anything you would change about it to make it your own, or if it’s something you’d genuinely use.
I always end up thinking about whether one RUclipsr watches another that I happen to watch, and if they ever get inspired to make something in their own way or just do it for themselves.
I love Matthias. He is the reason I am here. But if I Had to make thank his jig my brain would explode 😂 he is in another level. I am happy down here keeping is simple 😆 thank you!
@@jimmydiresta "Simple"....If this project was simple,PLEASE dont show complex!Talk about brain explosions!
Ok now that’s a buffer.
Krásne!
Neat.
Simply sik.
I will take 1, but i want mine rivited
Makes me want a welder....
Beautiful toolbox. Would you recommend taking a class or two for welding or just start with stick and just have a go?
Take a class. Get your on the right path
I would have rather riveted the hinge.
Is there any concern that cutting metal on the table saw like that might trigger the SawStop?
There is switch for metal cutting that turns off the mechanism.
@@natesebald5232 Thanks.

I long for the days when RUclipsrs didn't have to hock products in their videos.😢
They don't...but that would be leaving money on the table
👏👏
Aww come on man! Fitness supplements! please.... 🤨
The 5 stages of watching Jimmy build stuff.
1: This looks like it's going to be interesting.
2: Well I've never seen that technique before.
3: The heck are you doing JImmy?
4: What? Just What?
5: OMG its BEAUTIFUL!
6: OMG, the video is at actual speed! He really works that fast!
🥰🥰🥰💪🏼😂
Those are the same stages I go through when I watch a Bob Ross painting.
Hormone replacement therapy but for cis dudes
Did you come up with the razor blade thing or was that something you learned? Either way that was genius!
One way of ensure that polished aluminum doesn't show any fingerprints is to cover it in fingerprints, that way you won't see the fingerprints.
So many things to learn within each video of yours! Thanks for all that you do Jimmy! Truly a master craftsman. Proud to be alive alongside 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
I liked how you spaced the bottom or tops from the sides with utility knife blades,I will remember that, thanks for all you do for the community🤗😎🤗😎
I like how he gave us the tip by using it. He didn't even have to use words.
Impressive build! I like how you grain matched the aluminum drawer face.
We all know the real motivation of this project was to show how good you’ve gotten with the TIG machine. Very impressive work man!
Fantastic build Jimmy & that testosterone drink must really be working considering how fast you are moving & working! 😉😉
Heeey Jimmy, you forget to install some foam now everythhing sliding inside...... Unless you carry it like eggs. 😀😏✌
The builds are amazing, but seriously vet your sponsors. Selling snake oil isn't a pretty look.
WOW! What a design and that red really compliments the silver and the walnut. It reminds me a little bit of the old road cases rock bands used to pack mics and gear in but with a cool twist! Very nice work Jimmy!
The most interesting videos are when you are commenting on your work as it goes along..
Very nice but no charging ports. 9.5/10
As an aircraft sheet metal mech, I'm disappointed you didn't rivet the hinge and latches. Great work though!
I agree! I wondered also why the bolt heads were on the inside?
What a craftsman you are Jimmy!
Would of been awesome
I hate rivets😂
Yea Jimmy- everyone knows that rivets make toolboxes more aerodynamic! Lol 😉
This is definitely one of the coolest toolboxes I’ve seen in a while. Well done!
Love watching the way you approach things 👏👏👏 another very cool piece👌👌
So awesome. I love how you make everything look so effortless. Amazing work!
Toolbox or camera box? Very cool build but needs foam insert so gopros don't slosh around.
15:30 Damn, that's a lot of cameras. No wonder he's got 2 million subscribers!
Looks really great. The way you made the dove tail joints was just so smart and looked really good. Very shiny as well. Brilliant job.
As the name suggests dovetail joints look like a dove's tail. They're angled fan like. \ / What's used here is called a box joint. Which is often confused with dovetails due to a superficial similarity. They are considerably different joints though. You'd be hard pressed to cut decent dovetails on a table saw. I won't say it can't be done but no one does it. machined dovetails are cut with a router and a jig template.
Thanks for that I didn’t know the name for that joint but do now. Either way it does look smart and was a smart idea.
@@1pcfred You can cut decent dovetails on a table saw, but you have to build jigs to make it happen. I want to say Tamar at 3x3 customs made a video about it years ago, and made some damn good joints with it. They didn't look hand cut, but they were certainly dovetails. Although given the jig and the setup time, if I were using a table saw I'd go box joint as it's a much easier and more repeatable setup. So you're right, it can be done on a table saw but it's a lot of work.
@@ejthompson4950 the main problem is the corners of the tails are not right angles. So they cannot be cut properly with right angle tools. No jig can change that either. You'd need a beveled blade to cut that angled corner. But no one has one of those. If you want to machine cut dovetails you use a router. That's the sensible solution. It's what everyone does.
@@1pcfred ridge carbide makes beveled blades for making exactly that sort of cut. I don’t remember if Tamar used special blades or cleaned up the corners with hand tools. It is possible and the tooling exists but unless you’ve got a production shop setup running multiple table saws for each blade type and angle…. No one is really using the tablesaw method at home.
Nice work 👍🏻. Some Kaizen foam from FastCap would be a great addition to keep everything in place 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️
I thought it was just me worrying about where to store my GoPros and Insta360 cam. 😂 Great job Jimmy!
Cool stuff. It's been a while since I've watched your videos. Bummer to see that you're shilling TESTOSTERONE Alex Jones style, but still a cool build.
All that nice tig welding and ya bolt on the hardware lol. Only fuggin Jimmy Diresta would commit such a heinous act! (And then apologize that YOU dont like HIS box)
Looks sweet. Enjoy it.
Love ya, but you're better than pushing bs supplements...BEAUTIFUL toolbox!
sponsor is pretty lame... snake oil shit aint cool jim
And you know how?
Nice, it will show all the fingerprints.
Madman you are Jimmy. This is an object I want to have in my living room just as a sculpture (though I've prefer polished edges). Plus - I'm now sure you have a robotic arm under your skin as these lines cannot be made naturally.
In my 45 years as a boiler operator and boiler inspector I don’t think I’ve ever seen welds that nice before. Well done.
Well, if you havent, im scared to be around anything that was welded by the welders you inspected. I hope they received better training after your inspection. Could you send us a list? :p
@@beebop4333Come on man
Oh please. Those are some very decent shop welds for a maker, but don't try to talk them up to the standards of what a professional welder would do on a pressure vessel of any sort.
Jimmy is a genius at what he does, but there's no need to try to portray him as a welder of the caliber of which you're speaking of.
Man! You lay down a decent looking bead!
Do you have to worry about aluminum cutting on the SawStop triggering the safety mechanism. I noticed the metal was insulated with the covering during cutting. Good job!
The beauty of your videos is not so much the objects themselves, but the way you make them, that is, in your own way. . passa un buon weekend
I would assume cutting aluminum (or any electrically conductive material) on a sawstop would trigger the brake. Why isn't it the case?
That's beautiful! Now you can check your face for any grease or dirt before going inside for the evening, and you can blind everyone around you when you're working in the sunshine! It's cool hearing you talk about this project in the Making It podcast, and then seeing you create the tool chest. Big up from Upstate NY (Glens Falls)✌️
Jimmy channeling his inner Alex Jones with that product placement 😂
I cried a little. Times can't be THAT tough.
@@JeremyMitts Any product, ANY... Even Ryobi would be better.
@@TheJuliousnessI wouldn't even be upset if he was pitching Harbor Freight!!
Great build. It's cool seeing woodworking tools used for aluminium.
This reminds me of the videos from the old Manhattan basement shop. Always fantastic to watch you work sir.
i’d say don’t put all your eggs in one basket …. but since the camera that was recording the final scene wasn’t in the toolbox … your risk management will suffice😊
Respect from Egypt jimmy 🎉
That toolbox is giving me Bond vibes. The names Diresta...Jimmy Diresta.
Very nice, furniture polish gets rid of the finger prints and self adhesive neoprene foam stops the handles rattling - they're so damn annoying in the car while driving along.
Anyone else touching that better use gloves. Fingerprint matching will be a breeze.
Gonna watch this in patreon with the voiceover, just wanted to comment and say that’s a badass box 👌👌👌
Tremendous work as always sir, and those welds are truly stunning, but one question.... We're you attacked by a rogue rivet in your formative youth, or is there some other reason you seem to have an aversion to their use?
Beautiful tool chest, but the finger prints would drive me NUTS!
Incredible job I put some comments on the patreon version. I was just watching your rockler tool box last week.
O_O that intro was a straight up flashback to waking up in the middel of the night with tv shop glaring on the telly...
Always makes me nervous when the video goes to slo mo when using power tools. This is usually when the problems happen...
👍😎🍺🍩🗜️🛠️
Great project , my welding skills are not even close to that level but I I'm working on it thanks to some great tips I got a makers camp
How the hell you weld that long lines whitout the Material bending ?????
Nice work !
You never do anything short of excellent, and I guarantee that there is a market for those tool chests…
I'm always jealous of somebody that can perfectly scribe a line with only their bare hand
I absolutely love the fact that you use things as measuring devices!! "What size is that radius?" Jimmy "I dunno, about a half used roll of masking tape!" Beautiful job sir!
Why didnt you show how you cleaned the glue drips shown in minute 10:03? The sponsor didnt liked that part?
This reminds me of your earlier Timelapse vids in the City. Another great build.
Oh wow - a sticky fingerprint magnet with built in storage. Neat! 🙂
