Considering the insane lack of Unwound interviews on youtube, finding this was like a goldmine, especially considering the length! thanks for this :)
Thanks, I appreciate it. Honestly, Justin was a wonderful interviewee (and I've learned not to take that for granted). It was a real treat to talk to certain musicians and get to ask questions i was curious about.
There's something poetic about closing your radio show interviewing JT about, among other things, the album that (along with The Argument and 9/11) brought an era to a close.
Justin Trosper is such a great musician & such a nice chill person. Got a chance to meet him at an Unwound show back in 97, & a couple more times in 2014 @ Survival Knife shows (another AWESOME band!) Still have hopes that he & Sara Lund will reunite w/ Vern one day! Vern's bass (& guitar) work was so great!! I will always luv Unwound!
you're in luck homie
@@CJCJCJCJ Got Tix for Feb 8th>stoked!
@@slimchance7748 I was at that exact show! That was really special
Sad that it took Vern passing for this to happen but grateful I got to see them last year. Jared was the perfect choice to pay tribute to the inimitable Vern. RIP!!!
1:34:13 and they just announced a tour in 2023, 30 years after Fake Train!
sadly without vern
It was great but it wasn’t anywhere near as brilliant as Vern. Still, what a tribute.
Unwound was an amazing thing to see and experience and still listen to. Oren's comparison to SY at the beginning is off the mark - Sara is such an amazing drummer, Vern's bass killed in every song and Justin played and created more great stuff with one guitar and an echoplex than Thurston and Lee did as a team, and JT never felt tedious. Unwound were tremendous as a band (even decades later), and much more rewarding; though, of course, SY deserve a lot of credit and made a lot of good and important music.
I completely agree. Unwound has always been eons more enjoyable and creative than SY in my opinion. But people usually hold SY in some kind of mythical regard. My comment was in regards to the spirit and artistic sound exploration.
If sonic youth and fugazi had a baby it would be unwound
@@ajayasiver3944how? you're just saying stuff
You’re splitting hairs over nothing
Great! What a band
This pup is in need of some serious time stamps/jump links
Bro, can you just be the one to do it. I'm a father totally beaten down by life, so I can't devote the time and energy, but man I would love to skip through this several times and listen to what Justin has to say. So much cool history and band/label interconnections
And, now, there, is Evergreen, in 2021. What, A, Shame.
Yes Sad
Thanks 🙏
RIP Vern
FYI Olympia now hails from Portland??
