Would love to see whats it like inside your boat when your just sitting in your salon relaxing and its stormy and windy outside...thank you for your videos...glad you’ve weathered the storms so far...i hear your having another storm today.
Hi I just wanted to thank you for your lovely video, it is so relaxing. I have injured my knee and stuck in the house for the first time in 50 years at work. You two made me feel like I was out and about in the fresh air, so refreshing. Stay safe. Best regards, Chris and MoJo the Weimararner.

Eilene and Pat thank you for the Vid . I enjoyed seeing the tight fit in your Locks , it looks like the Narrowboat was designed well . Gosh that is a sturdy and eager Lock Tender making it all move along . Yes those Trees were exciting . Our Canal is Drained now . I am sorry that I have only a few Videos of the Erie Canal , and my Camera is just a Pocket Model .
I live on the "Cut" for about 3 yrs and Loved every moment of it and I pop in to the Swan now on my way back from the NMA on my Motorbike I took some biker friends there and they fell in love with the Swan so we always seem to stop for a meal and a cuppa
Hi Craig, I’m not surprised, we too loved it in the Swan, we went back twice and we don’t usually go into pubs that often! 🤣. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
So many of our friends emigrated from the Old Dart. We had friends in Tasmania who came from Coventry. So it's nice to see what the countryside is like
Pat come on 'De-moor' . How about shorten springs, let go lines forward, let go aft. Though with all the wind you've had a spring line could help Spring off the bank with an onshore wind. You are brave to venture out as your boat does have a lot of windage, good luck and keep safe.
Hi guys I was at Kings Orchard on the 19th trying to negotiate unsuccessfully a mooring. David was there too. I went to the pub just a bit further on The Plough lovely food. I did the Coventry last year it was glorious I want to do it again soon and go onto the Ashby. Glad you are ok. Thanks for the vlog. You were wise not to head to the Trent you would have got stuck at Alrewas where the T&M crosses the Trent. Further down the Trent is still well in flood so I'm praying it will go down in the next couple of weeks as I seriously want to get going the way you have just come. Cheers. Take care. Alan.
Hi Alan, that was a lovely mooring spot outside Kings Orchard but it was very windy. We were blown into the side and couldn’t get back off, which was why we stayed! Loving the Coventry so far but in a way would prefer to do it when the weather has improved. Hope the levels go down soon so you can get out and about! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

I'm sure the coal is for heat isn't it?Being from the US it's weird hearing someone even us the word. Here coal goes into power plants not heat sources in narrow boats.Wonderful video, beautiful boat.
Hi Lawrence, yes the ‘coal’ which is actually briquettes are for use in the multi fuel stove. We do have central heating with radiators as well but we generally use the stove as it is a much drier heat and helps with the condensation that you get on a boat. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Good decision not to head down to Shardlow! The Trent has been closed for most of February. It's still well above the danger level and Storm Jorge is about to hit. Keep safe!
Thanks Rod, at least this way we keep moving and not stuck somewhere for weeks! We really feel for those that have been caught up in a flood situation and feel lucky that we really haven’t been affected too much! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Still sailing? I have a question for you that came up when I saw the downed tree, here in the states when you are out off-roading, honestly that's the only thing I can think of that is similar for purposes of my question, and you come across a downed tree and you have the ability (chain saw, rope and winch, big strong blokes) you kind of have to clear the road for the next guy and not wait for the ranger to come move it for you so you can go on. So, if you come across a downed tree blocking the canal and you have a saw or a snatch block or a few strapping men, are you allowed to clear an obstruction or will that get you in hot canal water with the CRT? Asking for a friend across the pond.
Hi👋, sorry for the late response! It is our understanding that if you have the means to safely clear the obstruction then you may do so. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I think it has something to do with the economy and the constraints of technology of the time. I believe the English canals were some of the first built. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
They are designed around the width of one man lying across a boat, which is why narrowboats are narrow. Most of the canals were dug funded by private business owners, so they were as wide as was necessary and not a cm more due to cost. The larger French and European canals are so ugly compared with our British gems...

New subscriber! I'm local and that's one of my favourite canal walks down that way. Unfortunately haven't been for a fair few months because that's probably the most notoriously muddy bit of canal I know - and seeing that the storms have rendered huge parts of my other local canals impassable I just haven't bothered going near it. Tell a lie, I stood on that bridge by the A38 a couple weeks ago, looked down, and they weren't even puddles, they were lakes haha. Turned straight back on to the main road. Looking forward to watching more!

I fully understand that money doesn't grow on trees but have you ever thought of having a camera permanently installed on the bow with some type of viewing screen on the stern so Pat could see what is ahead when either just cruising or when entering a lock. Just wondering if that can be done or even if you feel it needs to be done. Another great video and I for one and expect many viewers appreciate you taking the time and the effort to show us the route you will be taking. Happy Boating.
Thank you Russ. We do actually have a forward camera with a viewing screen at the stern but we’ve never used it! Haven’t really felt the need to. It came fitted with the boat. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

Set the sails.....presume you mean the Two Foxes.....a lot of debris in the cut.....did you remove any of it.....do you report any trees down so someone can come deal with them....
Hi Tom, we did do a vlog showcasing the inside before we launched. Check out this one vlog 38. - ruclips.net/video/banXxOxvv3I/видео.html. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I find it surprising see the number of trees in the canals that boater don't carry at least a bow saw and stop to trim limbs like that and pull them up onto the bank to make life easier for your fellow boaters, is there any leagal reasons for not doing so?
Hi Guys love the vlogs. They are great. I am on shared NB Huxley and we are moving to Kings Orchard Marina this month. Did you manage to look at the marina. Thanks Barry.
Hi Barry, thank you so much, glad you’re enjoying the vlogs. We only looked at the marina from the bridge, didn’t go in but it all looks OK. Can imagine it might get a bit windy as it’s quite open, but then that’s no different to any other marina. Hope the move goes OK, it’ll be nice and central for you. thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I learned A new nautical term, "Ping Ponged" lol Nice to see how you both participate in creating your videos. I always have to do all my videos solo. Thanks for sharing your video. I shall subscribe
Thanks David, the answer to your question is both! On this occasion it was pot luck as we didn’t know that a fuel boat did the Coventry Canal. We know that a fuel boat does the Trent and Mersey, they also use social media so we contacted them through Facebook. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Shame you take up metal detecting with all those fields around you.. Of course, ask the farmers first. I bet there’s a few quid on the foot paths alone. This beats the city life any day. 👍👍👍👍
When we were over in September/October 2019 we did the Coventry and were moored at Fradley for 3 days as the Trent was in flood and we had to take the hire boat back. Do yourselves a favour when you head back up to Fradley Junction, have a meal at the Swan (mucky duck), we had the meat pie and chips and it was absolutely delicious 😋 , miss those pub meals. Keep safe 😎
Hi Ian👋, we stayed at Fradley for about 5 days and did get to the ‘Mucky Duck’ and enjoyed the very delicious Pie and Chips! Shame you had to hang around though, hope you wasn’t delayed too much! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Hi👋, don’t forget to say hello if you see us! We’re loving the Coventry, but would prefer it if the weather was better! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
OK you win. By all means continue to demoor, drive your boat and park it on an evening. Just promise that if you ever arrive at a sea lock you will do a three point turn and head back inland.
Pats going to “Demoor” @1’17” never heard that one before! Sounds awfully like a made up American word to my sensitive English ears. Unmoor, let go or cast off sounds a much better nautical term for our wonderful canal system, enjoy the cut.
We’ve moored in that spot by Kings Orchard Marina a few times, it’s a great sunbathing spot (when there’s sunshine). Those bottom gates at Middle Lock have been like that for years, the volley lockkeepers have told me that CRT know there’s a problem though. You’ll be going through our village, Whittington, on your next vlog, so looking forward to it! 👍
Dulcie Barnes - It was a great spot Dulcie, I should imagine you would get some lovely sunsets there. Yeah, possibly a build up of silt, I had trouble closing the gates as well on that lock and we have passed through Whittington so will be on the next vlog! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Gongoozler is not a derogatory term so I have no hesitation in using it and I agree we were very much Gongoozler’s before buying our boat. A gongoozler is a person who enjoys watching activity on the canals of the United Kingdom. The term is also used more generally to describe those who harbour an interest in canals and canal life, but do not actively participate. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Hello Lorraine, As this is a recognised term I don’t think it it at all disrespectful! A gongoozler is a person who enjoys watching activity on the canals of the United Kingdom. My first time watching your channel. Sir, you shouldn't waste your time trying to give any information with your wife around as obviously she is going to dominate the conversation whether or not you are speaking or not. Highly irritating to me.
🤣😂🤣, thanks for the advice Wilbur but my wife is not the dominating type. However, If you find her that irritating then probably best not to watch, so on this occasion thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes, when it’s not grey, all seasons have there advantages! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Thanks for sharing, don’t you have side fenders to save some scratching, take care both.
We do have side fenders but only use them for mooring up. as not safe to travel with them down. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Good morning, do you have a VLOG showing the interior of your boat? Thank you!
Hi Tom, we did do a vlog showcasing the inside before we launched. Check out this one vlog 38. - ruclips.net/video/banXxOxvv3I/видео.html. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Did you call anyone about the fallen tree? Needed someone with a chainsaw to get the debris cleared quickly. Sad to see some of the sunken boats..
We didn’t need to as someone had already called CRT, they came the next day and cleared it. Great job! 👍. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I find it surprising see the number of trees in the canals that boater don't carry at least a bow saw and stop to trim limbs like that and pull them up onto the bank to make life easier for your fellow boaters, is there any leagal reasons for not doing so?
👋 , I think a lot of boaters do carry a bow saw or something similar to use where the banks are a bit overgrown. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
@@ournarrowboatquest4894 We live in Ireland so we really enjoy our holidays afloat.
is the price of fuel the same from a boat and dock dealers
No, James, the prices do differ and can be by a considerable amount. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Loving watching your back vlogs. Do you keep a journal or a sailing log?
YesJohn I do! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
06:10 - You say you are sometimes lost. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

Is the bagged coal like large bricketts or actual coal rocks . I ask as here in Australia we don’t see coal for sale at all in hardware stores .
They are briquettes like used to be available here, I last came across them in Melbourne circa 1975.
Yes, as Harley says they are briquettes, smokeless fuel. The UK has just banned the sale of house coal.
I learned A new nautical term, "Ping Ponged" lol Nice to see how you both participate in creating your videos. I always have to do all my videos solo. Thanks for sharing your video. I shall subscribe
Welcome aboard 👋 hope you continue to enjoy our vlogs! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Is the fuel cheaper from the fuel boat....than the marina
Hi Michael, yes, generally it is cheaper than most marinas. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Great vlog as usual. Just curios do you know where the fuel boats are or is it pot luck ?
Thanks David, the answer to your question is both! On this occasion it was pot luck as we didn’t know that a fuel boat did the Coventry Canal. We know that a fuel boat does the Trent and Mersey, they also use social media so we contacted them through Facebook. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Shame you take up metal detecting with all those fields around you.. Of course, ask the farmers first. I bet there’s a few quid on the foot paths alone.
This beats the city life any day. 👍👍👍👍
It certainly does, don’t think we have the time though! 😂🤣. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Hi Don't think the CRT will like you digging holes in the Tow Path
ramsey barber true 😀but there are the fields
Our Narrowboat Quest you haven’t got the time. There’s me thinking it’s all laid back and having all the time in the world lol 😂
Our Narrowboat Quest You should add these pub visits to the vlogs.
Nice to see you coming up my canal neck of the woods moored pretty close to where i am
Hi👋, don’t forget to say hello if you see us! We’re loving the Coventry, but would prefer it if the weather was better! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
'Demoor' PMSL try 'casting off'
🤣😂🤣, I have come into some criticism for using the term De-moor which is why I continue to use it! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
Our Narrowboat Quest Tomayto tomahto, who cares? PS l always take my demoored clothing to the charity shop!
🤣😂, thank you, I have been reprimanded many times for that terminology! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I'm guessing the cost of diesel is more from a boat (convenience) versus a shore depot (5%, 10%+ difference)?
Not generally, in our experience the fuel boat tends to be a bit cheaper! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I think using the word gongoozlers is a bit rich u would of been one once
Gongoozler is not a derogatory term so I have no hesitation in using it and I agree we were very much Gongoozler’s before buying our boat.
A gongoozler is a person who enjoys watching activity on the canals of the United Kingdom. The term is also used more generally to describe those who harbour an interest in canals and canal life, but do not actively participate.

Seven people have voted this down, why?
Who knows🤔. You can’t please everyone! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
There I will counter a negative count for you. Vids are great.
🤣😂, thank Barry! 👍
With apologies: it's not de-moor it's "let go". Just thought I'd say, sorry.
🤣😂🤣, that OK, Alan, of course I know that De-moor is not the correct terminology but say it anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍
I think it's disrespectful calling walker gongusals
Hello Lorraine, As this is a recognised term I don’t think it it at all disrespectful!
A gongoozler is a person who enjoys watching activity on the canals of the United Kingdom. The term is also used more generally to describe those who harbour an interest in canals and canal life, but do not actively participate.

To many adverts
Hi Danny, we have taken away the mid roll adverts now, but we don’t have any control over the amount of other ads shown. Thanks for commenting though!
@@ournarrowboatquest4894 No problem there slick. Never intended to watch it again.
Wilbur Adkins JR you are an absolute “dick”... so glad you’re not intending to watch again because your arrogance is highly irritating to me.
