Yet again another great presentation. When you think of RUclips videos you don’t assume this level of professionalism. I shouldn’t give you ideas Chris but you could charge airlines and their crews a lot of $€£ for these sessions ;-) Thanks again for making these available to us. I will support your book, and tell all of my 737 colleagues to follow your channel too 👍
I had to check after 20 seconds whether this was posted on April 1st... was wondering if you would post a video explaining acronyms with sentences consisting purely of other, different acronyms :P
56:32 that FDR test receptacle behind P18 de-energizes the DFDAU when you remove the cap. If you have a failure on DFDAU and it's C/B is in, checking that receptacle is a good practice before performing wiring checks.
There are different configs but all for the aircraft I have seen the lower aft antenna is either VHF 1 or 2 and the lower fwd antenna if fitted is for VHF 3. The upper can be either VHF 1 or 2.
Thanks lot for sharing your great knowledge and experience, I really enjoy to watching your videos, . Classic 737 Cockpit Voice Recorder operate on the ground When 115V AC power is available even before engine start
Thanks Chris as usual. Great in detail for us flying 73nerds. I would like to know if it’s possible to see the input of each single control column/wheel. Say that the MCP has the left MA(CPT should be PF), but the F/O is manipulating his control column/wheel. Could you detect this on the QAR? Or by any other means? I tried asking our engineers, but they don’t know. Perhaps our safety department would know? The best answer I got was, maybe… and yet the 2 control columns are synchronized physically as we already know from your Flight Controls video. Thanks again Sir!
Good morning Mr. Aisen, I know that the Avionics department/Technical records department from within a company may have access to such information. When a QAR download is called out in case of a, let’s say a hard landing report, they have this software that compiles I/O signals from all of the systems. Graphics are plotted and you can select whichever Input/Output to analyse in that particular case. Also this was the case when working for the AirForce in Romania as an Avionics Engineer on the Puma330 helicopters. I would also like to give special thanks and appreciation to Mr. Brady and this channel, such a wonderful and professional approach in providing this great content, keep up the great work and shout out if you ever need any pics and videos from Line Maintenance!
Thank you Adrian for helping to answer Daniels question. Thank you also for your kind words about my channel. I am always on the lookout for unusual photographs from 737 line maintenance, please send any on my email. Regards Chris
Thanls so much bought your book back in 2016 when i was meant to fly the 737 classic but that fell through now im doing my faa 737ng rating and bought the book on the apple store along with these vidoes its been a great helpt for the faa oral exam. Have you got the b737 cockpit companion app on the ipad its outstanding
Hi there ..... Great videos ....... I have a question ........ does the CVR record the sounds from any external objects hitting the aircraft including birds strike or the aircraft hitting an obstacle while taxing ?
If you're not already on it, may we have a video focusing on power to the older 737-800 VDR and CVR please? Just how many slices of swiss cheese do we need to de-power them? Related question: if the aircraft's battery-to-unswitched-hot-battery-bus connection is broken, but the battery charger is powered up so there is voltage on the bus, does (perhaps can) any system detect that and notify the flight deck?
After watching this video I was thinking back to the analytical skills of Fred Jones (set down in his memoir ‘ Air Crash’) where the story was unravelled from the physical evidence of the actual crash or event itself. How different it is today with modern FDR and CVR technologies that record significant aspects of any flight. These technologies should be extended to military aircraft and GA aircraft if possible. Understandably the costs would need to come down. Interesting subject, thank you.
Cost, size and weight all need to come down. This is happening to some extent already. AIBs can put together a lot of info from data held in avionics and GPS devices but there is a long way to go.
Hello Chris, I just discovered your You Tube channel today. I have been doing in-depth research about various Aircraft Crashes and Incidents since March 2021. The latest incident of my focus is the 29/12/2024 09.03 local time South Korea, South Jeolla Province, Muan International Airport, 34°59′13″N 126°22′58″E, Boeing 737-8AS, Jeju Air Flight 2216 Plane Crash. I know quite a bit about Cockpit Voice Recorders but am not au fait with all aspects of the technology. A couple of questions: (1) Do you know what sort of CVR was being used on the Boeing 737-8AS registered HL8088? (2) What is the normal Chain of Custody for a CVR after a crash? (3) Do you know if Flight 2216's CVR was using/connected to a Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS)? (4) If a 737 loses all electrical power, will the CVR still work/record? (5) Can a pilot or co-pilot disconnect/turn off a CVR, either pre take off or in-flight? Hope to get a reply from you about these questions ASAP. Sincerely 😎 Adam Neira Founder of World Peace 2050 Founded in April 2000 Paris - Jerusalem - Melbourne
I have no way of knowing what type of CVR was fitted or if it had RIPS, that will come out in the investigation. Chain of custody depends upon the country of the accident. ICAO Annex 13 has a preferred path but it isn’t always enforced. Re “all electrical power” if all electrical power is lost then all electrical items will be unpowered. You need to understand that there are different types of electrical power - 3 generators, AC & DC busses, standby busses, various batteries etc. Watch my electrical videos for more info.
Watching you videos for free seems wrong.
Brilliant work as always
Don’t worry. If you want to support my work then please buy a book.
Yet again another great presentation.

Thank you for your kind words. I guess I could charge but I am happy to give back to the next generation of 737 crews. All the best to you.
Thanks as always Chris. You could make a 1 hour video on static wicks and I would still watch it.
😂😂 thanks but don't tempt me!
I had to check after 20 seconds whether this was posted on April 1st... was wondering if you would post a video explaining acronyms with sentences consisting purely of other, different acronyms :P
My apologies, it is that kind of subject. Hopefully all was revealed in the video!

Top tip thanks
I've currently studied ACMS on Landing G to prevent from the inspection of suspected hardlanding.
Ευχαριστούμε!
Thank you very much!
Teşekkürler.
Cömert hediyeniz için teşekkür ederim
Thank Chris for great videos
My pleasure, thanks for watching
The VHF antenna signaled as nº 2 is really the VHF 3 antennna location, located aft of wheel well. VHF 2 location is at fwd lower fuselage location.

Great presentation!
Lots of info and tips.
Many thanks for your efforts!

My pleasure

Great to hear that you have found the book and videos helpful. Best of luck with your career on the 737.
Hi there ..... Great videos ....... I have a question ........ does the CVR record the sounds from any external objects hitting the aircraft including birds strike or the aircraft hitting an obstacle while taxing ?
The CVR area mic is in the flightdeck, so it will only record external sounds if they are audible from the flightdeck.
Thanks much appreciated sir
You are welcome

Yes, I am working on exactly that. I might be able to get it out tomorrow depending on my flying roster!
