  • Abnormal engine starts : Compliments the ATPL AGK Systems exam when learning the different type of failed starts including Wet start, Hung start etc. I have DELIBERATELY extended the failure to show engine instrumentation readings. In normal operations, the start sequence would be terminated much sooner. This is a simulator, there is no risk of costly damage - but you get to see how the engine instrumentation responds to the failure. Something you may never see otherwise with a real engine. The video is for educational purposes.

Reviewing upcoming sim. Thanks for the help. We don't get to see these very often

Could you do a video on all the different types of engine failures in flight? E.g. failure, surge, limit, fire, severe damage, fire, dual failure etc

Hi, I’ll give it some thought. Thanks for the interest!

What causes a hung start? Poor fuel delivery?

Hi, these are a few (not all), generic problems, not necessarily associated with all engine designs, but some to consider.
      Low RPM during start.
Faulty air starter, blockage in air start valve; start valve malfunction (on some aircraft).
Possibly trying to start with a tail wind causing insufficient engine RPM to be reached with starter.
Maybe trying to start with PACK’s on and therefore not enough bleed air.
Fuel; problem with fuel control unit/fuel nozzles.
Too much air extraction from the HBOV, (Handling bleed off valve).
      Contaminated compressor.
