@@BlendLineTV There's a thought - Frank Kelly in a VE Commodore V8...........
As a backcountry gravel road hooning Texan, I absolutely LOVE seeing racing like this!
Right on! That's the way to do it!
Australian motorsport doesn't stop to amaze me. The base (looking) model with a Chevrolet badge makes it slightly more relatable, even though we only got V6 sedans.
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thanks for watching! Awesome to know the cars are bringing entertainment to Brazil!
Hope you're enjoying the content.
The only thing cooler than those long shots was the big drifts around the bend.
The way these guys pilot these machines through the trees is mental. Just love how they're not afraid to put the foot down and get the tail out!
This is awesome, absolutely love the sound. Gotta say this channel has fast become one of my go to channels - love your content guys 😁
Thanks Krissboo! Appreciate the support so so much!
Pumped you're enjoying our Grass Roots Motorsport offering here. Plenty more to come!
G'day from OZ I follow a person called IWrocker this is how I found your channel!!! Imagine being a chase car "What do you see Just loud noise and a dust storm" awesome driving skills at the end 👍❤
Thanks for coming and having a look! We hope you enjoy the content on the channel and the more videos we bring in 2022 to showcase the racing and events at Grass Roots Racing level!
Iwrocker is pretty good. I have watched a few of his videos and pretty good. Cheers
That sound is absolutely epic!!
We agree! We absolutely love seeing these guys on stage!
Reminds me of growing up on a quiet dirt road, and having a 308 4 speed HZ Panelvan as my first car. You can’t learn where the boundaries are without going over them.
That's got to have been a lot of fun!
& yes, the gravel is a great place to learn the boundaries of a vehicle!
I used to pump my 74 SLR5000 through the scrub back in 1978. Great fun and a good learning curve as well. Get on tarmac and enjoy all the grip and have the skills to use the grip. And I too had a 1977 HZ Panelvan with a 308 and 4 speed. God I wish I had it now. Cheers
Learnt to drive on gravel in a HG Premier before they put gates on every firetrail. 🙄
Dude this is awesome, you’d hear and feel these big boys coming from miles away 👍🇦🇺
Oh yeah, you certainly do! It's pretty awesome in the forest.
That last big drift......😍
Awesome vid
Thanks for watching & the support Matt. We hugely appreciate it!
A 6.2 litre iron block V8 ute in a rally? It's not gonna win, but the driver and the spectators will have a huge laugh and big fun. Surely there's nothing more Aussie motorsport than V8 Holden ute in a rally.
I always love Aussie V8
Love the lumpy inline 6 as well But V8 power reminds me of a VB very best!!!
The rumble gets us every time!
Great driving looks awesome
I love the sound of a V8 in the morning. It sounds like……victory !
I don’t think there is anything on gods green earth more satisfying then watching a Holden drift around cornered in slow o.
Y'alls microphones are blessed
So are our ears when out in the forest enjoying these brilliant machines!
absolutely awesome, thank you so much for posting this!
Thank you for watching! We're glad you enjoyed it!
What a great sounding ute.
My compliments to those gents, driving proper cars.
You and me both! love these utes!
why the chevy badge. be proud its Australian. 🤔
which dealer do you go to now, bro?
@@godsinbox the one freelancing Opels. Compare the Lumina of US and Middle Eastern ones in 2000s you'd be surprised which ones the best.
In the late 90’s the incredible Gary Connelly (director of Rally Australia at the time) once stated before myself and many others “that it was time to get the dinosaurs out of the forest and move to turbo 4wd” that’s ok, but some of us loved to hear the sound of dinosaurs in the forest…
Even dinosaurs evolve, these dinosaurs are half the weight, twice the horsepower of a 90's dinosaur.
Still sound awesome too.
Disclaimer, just talking engine weight, a VE is a lot heavier than a VS.
Almost everything has it's place in the forest. If you want to go for outright victories then build soemthing that will get that job done. If you want to have fun and entertain, get something like this. Both will put as much enjoyment into the drivers life and that's what it is all about right? :)
@@BlendLineTV For sure! I have nothing against the turbo 4wds or any rally car for that matter. In the late the 90s big RWD cars were all but extinct in rallying and it’s nice to see these really strong efforts bellowing their way thru the forests. Great to see the wide variety of top footage that you have on your channel! Many Thanks!
fucking love it, love this chan. All the stuff thats not on TV anymore
Thanks Jacked_Jacked we're stoked you're loving the content! Plenty more to come from the world of Grass Roots Motorsport!
This is how we get around in Aus, Turbo Diesel works well too.
can't stand seeing a chev badge on a Holden!
General Motors, that's how they go
Once saw a vette badge once
@@user-xh5dj8no7p i prefer lie to myself and pretend Holden was entirely self sufficient and has nothing todo with GM or Chev but we all know that's not the truth :(
I would put Opel badger can get called Nazi. Love to pass on em.
@@markoz673bajen8 yes i am in agreeance with you.
Thanks mate for the upload love me some ute action haha
Glad you enjoyed it! These guys definitely like to put on a show when they get on the stages!
Hard enough trying to drive these on wet roads yet alone gravel
Wheelspin for dayzzz!!
But it really isn't hard to drive at all
On the dirt again.
Just can't wait to be on that dirt road again.
I Just can't wait to drift those corners with my friend, I just can't wait to be on that road again.
Awesome 👍🏻
Love this race v8 rally
Subbed. Loving the content you're putting out 🤙🏽
Thanks Ian! We're so glad to hear you're loving it!
Looking forward to bringing plenty more for fans of Grass Roots Motorsport in 2022.
Keep it coming.
Ah yeah. I see. There is a sport I can use my ute in, this is how I typically drive on the way to the pub, shop, home, mates place, mum and dad's, everywhere to and from the farm I thought that was the norm??
Actually I need to buy a ute first...
Thank you for reading my comment have a great day.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
If that's how you'd drive a ute. Buy one and get it out on the stages! We'd love to see it competing :)
@@BlendLineTV if only......if only😩....and I mean that!!!
That was fricken Awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks hard work!👍👍
Mad!
who gives a shit about times, when you have the sound and looks!
Would a V6 be just as quick on a surface like this? Doesn’t look like you can use even half the power.
Yeah, we're not sure when it comes to the big Holden products. Of course 4cyl cars regularly win, so it's more car set up than outright HP that can get you the win in Rally.
Doesn't sound as cool though 🙂
I see with these big beasts that they spend a lot of time off the throttle when compared to smaller cars. So a lot of time just waiting for momentum to play out in corner before they can gather speed. Frustrating to drive in a rally situation I reckon. Still sound awesome and sure epic to watch. 🤣
True as that is a V8 will outlive a turbocharged car everyday of the week.
A different outcome on the Nurburgring, a GT circuit, a GM/Holden can testify.
It is true, but the power under foot can help with the situations where you just want to get the rumble going in the forest we guess! :)
Vz driver went hard
That ute really look like Porto Alegre's taxis
What is it with V8 utes hating tyres & forever shredding em like that 🛻🔥💨💨 😂
Enjoy your vids 👍👍
Thanks for watching, love to hear your enjoying the videos!
I mean, we're not disappointed these utes are absolutely shredding tyres! 🔥
Fella in the orange ute must be a bit of a rookie in the scene or at least on that track the red ute on the other hand absolutely tore that track up good to see them get out and have a go nonetheless
Spent too long looking for chevy badges instead of learning the track.
@@paraphiliac haha too true, I was trying to figure out if that was his rear bumper hanging off or if he has some sort of wide overhanging mudflaps hard to tell
Ohh it's a Rally, thought they were just on their way to work.
tradies only get paid for being on site hence that speed
No rally at all
Aussie farming 101
- Know your ute
👏😂could seem that way!
How many skids it can do and how much hay it can transport!
Utes, one of many reasons why Australians have more fun.
Put all the power to the rear then no weight to hold it down! = Fun!
I'm indonesia...
Next can we get some rotary rally action please
We'll see what we can find of the rotary cars we've got. Unfortunately that's one area where there arn't huge amounts in Australian Rally.
0:35 hahahah!
I dont get it why GM did not make a El-Camino out of this....
@iwrocker you thought the sedan as good get a load of this
Don't these Holden's run LS motors? Why do they sound different/better then the ones we have here in the states?
lol
We have to be honest we're not 100% sure what engines these guys are running. There's so many different LS/Holden engine combos going around we don't always get a chance to keep across everything.
All we know is they sound brilliant!
Do these things even have exhausts on them lol 😂
Not fast, but they sound great 👌
If this much fun even legal?!
Who cares that they're heavy/too long/not that fast?
Ruined it by putting a chevy badge on it 🤦
Im American and i agree it ruined it especially because we never got it here and it never was sold as a chevy so it makes no sense to do that
@@ryanjosephhaywood96 finally an American that agrees with me. All the other Americans try and discredit Aussies and claim the holden commodore as American just cause it has a chev engine. THANK YOU
We do it in GCC (Middle East Arabia)and only sedan commies are LHD.
Go the CHEVY ute
How to make 300hp sound like 600hp, and be slower than a stock I30.....put it in a commonwhore ute :D points for trying though
Keep your i30 soyboy
There's nothing special about this event, it's just the average day of a typical Holden owner. Vroom! Vroom!
lol
Only way a v8 should be driven is sideways
& on the gas!
Sounds dum an is but love to c a rally first times then different tyres an track. Be good fun. It was silly cheers
How could they do this to a car that's appreciating more than Bitcoin lol
Because these specific commodores are dirt cheap and won’t gain value. Most of these rigs you could get base for less than 10k
@@Wheeeboxaboi find a V8 Commodore ute LS1 for under 10k...?
Can’t even buy an LS engine for less than 5 or 6k these days.
Prices of everything are just going absolutely mental. Makes it hard to find a way in doesn't it :(
The Australian flag should have a UTE on it. No other country has history with utes like aus. Not many countries have utes period.
With that said, I feel like this is a terrible vehicle for these purposes. There heavier then most cars that race offroad, plus they dont have much weight over the rear tires because of the bed. Nobody likes a loose ass.
Terrible vehicle for the purpose. But SO much fun and what a noise!
If you get out of the car with a massive smile, then you're winning.
