Hi Chris We're using Rota wheels, their Grid R model, 17x9". We wanted to find the closest we could to the original touring car and I must say that the wheels were probably the hardest thing to match. We couldn't fit the original Group A wheels in there (way to wide) and we couldn't find a 5 spoke design that was even close, so we ended up with this 6 spoke design and so far nobody has noticed............so please don't tell! ;-) Car does sound amazing, especially at about 4:34. Love it!
:-) Hey John. It's built to do all that so that's not the reason. The reality was the the rockers had just reached the end of their service life. We figured on them being good for 4,500 km's but were anticipating that we could get 4,500 racing km's out of them. It appears in hindsight that the large amounts of gentle touring we do in events like Targa, just getting from one stage to the next, count against the rockers too. Lesson learned so we'll be back with new rockers soon! Adam
Awesome video, many thanks to our boss, Adam Kaplan, and his awesome Hunter Holden VL Walkinshaw for providing the entertainment and to Ben Sale at Other Side Productions for editing it all together so well. The car is currently on display in our new HSV showroom at 603 Victoria Road Ryde, so feel free to drop in and have an up close look.
Um .. couldn't help but notice the "safety barriers" (1:44-1:58) HAY BALES?? WHAT THE?!! Oh, I seeeee .. they're to protect the cars from any panel damage caused by human body parts 😂😂
Just get rid of that head banging noise at the beginning, and all will be fine . . why do Australian car shows insist on behaving like morons by utilizing this disruptive clamor?
by far the best sounding car in the tour. i could listen to it all day
word

I can’t get enough of watching this car so it’s thing. Every year it sounds great. Who ever built the motor has excelled.

Great video, guys. I did wonder what happened when you dropped of the results sheet part way through.
It’s 1 thing to have the best looking & performing vehicle but, if u don’t have the right person in control of it......
What engine are you guys running
Great stuff
What engine and exhaust set up are on the car?
Hey Adam,
What wheels are on your VL?
I can't stop watching your video's, the car sounds amazing!

Chris
What mirrors are fitted to this VL? They are not the factory ones but they do look very neat and modern.
Just race mirrors from Revolution Racegear. Light, smaller and don't look too wrong.
It's good seeing a real man driving a real car how it's ment to be driven .... 💪🏼
from some angles with that blacked out ass end it looks like a VL ute😍
that thing handles amazing for a vl :O
Of course it handles amazing . Do you think Tom Walkinshaw was stupid?
Awesome!
Yes, original Walky. Not sure, around 700+ at the flywheel.
Sounds on the money!
Nice mate 👍
Did this vl run at Bathurst in the day?
Yes 1990 race replica
thought they looked like grids although i didnt think many people were using them on rally cars. also loved what old mate at the start says haah
what rims are on that ?
Wicked!
