I've been watching Aussie motor racing since I was 5. I used to get up before dawn and with my Dad, watch the Hardie Ferodo ALL DAY LONG. Headlights on to finish. This is honestly one of (if not the) BEST V8 racing videos that has come out of this country. Sound 10/10 Racing 10/10 Christ you two have a great life.
RUclips will demonetise clips that have "adult language". That's why they censor the language. It's got nothing to do with nationality, you utter peanut.
@@woopimagpie OK I was being a tad facetious. I mean who uses the word yank in 2021. BUT, you can't sit here and say Americans aren't the most conservative when it comes to swearing (and nudity of course). I've been re-watching the X Files and I read that the network execs didn't want Scully to use the word crap. In a show where monsters violently kill people. Watching American stuff over the course of my life, one thing is plainly clear. Guns and violence = fine, swearing and tits = NO WAY! So it is very much about nationality/culture. That being said, pretty much most of the shit I watch on RUclips don't beep the fucks. Hence my facetiousness. I guess most of the channels I watch don't give a fuck about being demonetized. Or, just if you actually Google it, RUclips don't care that much about fuck. And it's racial slurs and general bigotry they have a problem with. Although obviously not in the comments section.
thanks adam for not just being a collector who keeps them in a shed and dusts them off 👍🍻 doesnt matter who you are, you just have to chuckle at how aussie it is to just drop a set at every stage start, "just because"
Due to the tall gear ratios is difficult to start quickly any other way, you can see what happened when the revs were too low in the first 10 sec of the vid
Every bit of this is exemplary. Great video, great attitudes, and that VL is so perfect it just inspires everyone else to build sweet road racing cars.
Bom dia !!!!!! Cara, que Máquina fantástica. O barulho do Motor é como música. Lindo demais..... Obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal. Abraço do Brasil.....
Great to see you still love your Targa Tassy Adam! Car is wonderful and you haven't lost any of your driving skills... I hope the throttle cable issue didn't impact on your time for the stage, did you get the trophy this year? Cheers Peter Godden Targa 1994-1997
What is it about the Chev 18*Deg V8 Supercar engines that gives them that screaming wailing sound? Up high they almost sound staccato like, like a Ferrari V8. Is it the siamese port heads? Was the best era of V8 Supercars too I reckon. VT - VZ era. No better sounding V8SC engines ever. Not even the Aurora Holden MotorSport ones - they sound similar, but don't quite have the high pitch scream. The Fords have it around this era as well. Btw, before anyone asks what I'm on about. This car runs a Supercar engine from a VZ.
In the time I've loved the walkinshaw VL I've seen them go from $30,000 to $300,000 I just love them. I had white replica with a clubsport motor as a daily driver for 20 years . Does anyone know if this kit if fibreglass or carbon fibre ?
@@dons1932 Thanks, I looked it up. good for high revs and expensive to build. I want one! I wish i'd gone down that route rather than an upgraded rebuild.
@@christophergamble7257 Thanks Chris but I didn't mention the whine, just visually looks like a few times it spins a single then binds up and steps out, perhaps it's like that on purpose to reduce understeer
Loved that bloke’s reaction to stalling it. 😂
Most Australian thing out. 🇦🇺
Muscle cars like receiving the feedback, they try harder next time😁

Good stuff Adam, brings i thought it was around 1987 when i watched this
That's a beautiful thing
Thank you for not bleeping that like some Yank channel would. Things like that need to be heard in all their glory, fuck ya!

And for not added music over the top of the V8
we need to appreciate the effort of Aleshia Penney.
I agree and she is so calm!
Yes 👍
Brings a tear to the eye in a good way. Many bathurst memories. And what a noise. Fantastic.
What a glorius noise!!! Love the signatures at the start of the stages.
The control of the car this driver has is second to none. Out Effin Standing!
I think your VL group a is the greatest Australian car of all time such a joy to watch and listen to thanks for all the great memories
Had to watch this a second time. Once was just not enough.
Awesome video guys :)
So many great memories as a kid watching these things race in touring cars. Still love the look of a Wilki. Never gets old!
Also just recorded first 23 seconds of audio to my phone and set as my morning wake up alarm, great way to wake up in the morning and get going!
Doesn't get old. Great edit, wonderful footage. Something just so wholesome about the laughter a hard launch and a couple of dark lines can create.
I can't get enough of this car.
And the consumer award for the most tyres purchased for the event goes to Adam Kaplan!
I’m not even a Holden fan and I enjoyed that!!
Best first 15 seconds 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Alechia saved the day
And has nerves of Steel
Wish that I had one of those as my wing person
Great camera work great editing just loved the whole thing thanks
Driving it how a holden wants to be driven... That guy right there is the life blood and soul of Straya!!
lest we forget

I remember reving one of the road versions and they sounded bloody awesome twin throttle body’s.
That sound!! Sooo good.
Great drive and what a glorius sound.
Great vid👍brings back old memories of old school V8 racing
Still one of my ultimate dream cars.
Best sound you'll ever hear
Up there, but no🤔
The Rolls Royce Merlin and 1950s Indy cars are my pick.
One of the best vids I still get chill watching this top bloke awesome car
Music to my ears sounds great
Bom dia !!!!!!
Cara, que Máquina fantástica.
O barulho do Motor é como música.
Lindo demais.....
Obrigado pelo vídeo e parabéns pelo canal.
Abraço do Brasil.....
Always had a soft spot 4 a walky 🙂 i remember oldies dissed them coz they were made of plastic, now u can barely get a car made of metal
Those Walkies go nice. Real nice ♥️
Now that is a tuff sounding race car. Mint 👌
That is just god damn magical!
Could watch that all day with my eyes shut.

OMG....That was awesome . Whoever owns , or ends up owning this VL , please never bend it .
Yeah it would be a shame to to see it the wrong way up, take it easy, keep the rubber side down and keep coming back year after year 👍
This is my favourite video on RUclips
That gave me goosebumps 🤙
This made my day such sweet sound
Absolute weapon 🤘🏻🔥😎
My favourite parts are;
A) the first start “F$&k ya” and “my hero”
2) Every competitor that enjoyed your starts more than you!
👌🏻😂
That VL set up is magic
Simply amazing.
What a beast.
Peter Brock was my all time Hero in the wet on top of mount panorama in the VL in 1987...

Agreed
I think the sound your referring to is actually from the gear box.
@@ghostridersnr No I'm not talking about the straight cut gearbox whine.
I did the same thing in assetto corsa did a straight engine swap with the VZ, it is mental to drive!
Totally awesome stuff!!
Spectacular video, monster engine! Well done! 👍
Sounds so damn good! What a beast.
WOAH did I just see VL V8 drive past a servo? That sound though, lovely to see a holden getting around
Right o! Love the ten percent teaser.... where is the rest...more please! Love their work!
I been driving this car on Assetto Corsa thanks to some modders that made it, and the body roll is insane
That car is a national treasure
Just brilliant V8 action, so aggressive on throttle

Omg what a sound track.
If I ever win loto I would definitely buy this car over a Porsche or Ferrari GUARANTEED 🇦🇺👍
If he sold it..
Awesome sound. There’s nothing quite like a V8
Music to the ears!
That's some fancy driving right there..
That was awesome.
That thing is SICK!!!!!!
That is awesome
That makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
I’m a Ford guy but this video was great! Loud, aggro and slippery. Just like a good touring car oughta be!
Haha great explanation of a broken throttle cable.
Just Wow!
Awesome stuff
I would love to do Targa one year
same
"Hahaha excellent" 😂👌🏽
Awesome
Signature dish.. 11s :)
Is this pretty much a VL Walkinshaw chassis put on a VZ supercar setup?
Bloody unreal!
The good Old 18 degree doing It's thang
Arguably one of the best sounding V8s imo 🤷🏻♂️
Luv it !!
Made my day
How many kw and hp did this Aussie car race have?
HOLDEN
Hard enough to do those road in the dry, but the wet.. kinda madness..
Hilarious that they left that stall on the vid.
Gots ta love a Walky
Sounds mean and looks tuff go the Hokden
Whats the history on it? Made up car or ex race car? What engine? Just love that sound. Great memories 👌
The engine is out of an ex v8 supercar but that’s as much as I know
The balls/lady balls on this pair driving this in the wet, holy snapping duck shit!! Three fatalities this year :(
Is this a tribute or an actual Walkinshaw race car?
Holden V8 or Chevrolet V8?
I almost cried...
Co driver is taming the beast and I don’t mean the car😂
This is the best
What engine does that have in it?
Gawd I miss my VL right now
9 seconds in and liked already hahaha
That stall moment 😅🤣😂
0:05 And aren't they off to a great start?
So good! Just needs the original wheels and it would be perfect.
Sounds like a Supercars V8 racing car, nothing we haven't heard a over million times in Australia.
AFAIK this car has v8 supercar running gear in it. not the original holden 5L
@@AdrianHarrisOnGooglePlus Yep VZ Supercar Chev V8 and sequential RD6 Holinger as well.
@@dons1932 What engine? Not an LS then?
@@bonesXU1 No definitely not an LS. 18 Degree Chevrolet Small Block (think they were made as a 307 Chev) as used in the VZ era of Supercars.
@@dons1932 Thanks, I looked it up. good for high revs and expensive to build. I want one! I wish i'd gone down that route rather than an upgraded rebuild.
If only v8 supercars today sounded like this, good steering too, the diff appears to be due for renew
The whine is from the holinger sequential gearbox
@@christophergamble7257 Thanks Chris but I didn't mention the whine, just visually looks like a few times it spins a single then binds up and steps out, perhaps it's like that on purpose to reduce understeer
