Joe is my favorite guitar player alive today. I've shook his hand before & he is a good kind human. Being a musician, I have to laugh when a room full of rock musicians say, "lets play something funky" Sorry, it ain't gonna happen! Just like rock musicians defining their art form, so do R&B, soul, funk musicians. Each one of the forms is a lifetime process. So what brought me here is the love of Joe's playing. I said wow, funky? Ok I'm in. I listened, watched & enjoyed the performance. I listened to the end waiting for something funky ................... never happened.
Super Funky is climbing up the charts of my favorite songs of all time. I would consider pulling a "Crossroads" to be able to play that in front of a crowd.
it is an unforgettable thing ... he really gets the dynamics going ...its not all ear destroying volume ...you actually get to hear what he is thinking as he plays ... wherever you can do it ...go see him ( i caught his pick in glasgow ...prized possesion
I hoped his next LP coming out this month would be a return to form, to the inspiration of the 90's when he gave us the great Black Album and Crystal Planet. I have checked the times and the tracks are not much more than 4 minutes long, so not into realm of epic-shredder-melodic-Hard n'Heavy guitar pieces as I'd wish. Still as a sample this track is a positive and sweet pull towards his new album.
