The law still recognizes the kid as a juvenile but it also recognizes that the heinous nature of this kid's actions are so egregious that he at 14 was able to understand the primary gravity of those actions just as well as an adult would. Therefore the parent buying him a military weapon after his child and himself have been warned about the kid's disturbing gun violence behaviour deserves criminal culpability, even while the child is subject to adult sentencing (with some differences however such as not being eligible for the death penalty). Both deserve HEAVY prosecution in this matter. This is not vindictive or hypocritical. It is finally addressing the mass of blame that is to go around, instead of giving grossly negligent, wilfully blind or actively conspiring parents a free pass. That is what should never occur anymore when such culpability in the parent(s) is evident.

Ohhhhh Americans and their precious freedoms. Where were you all when the Patriot Act took many of them away?
How can you have accountability even before any trial begins you take off the possibility of the death sentence which is right fully deserved in cases such as this. When I was a young child I knew the difference between right and wrong today's children also know the difference between right and wrong some of them just don't care and know they can get away with it. And who in the heck buys a weapon of war as a Christmas gift for their son for Christmas a day in which we are supposed to celebrate our humanity and our love for our fellow man...... Merry Christmas everyone!

Right - but every neighborhood rap party where several get hit - anyone who gets caught never has their parents charged with anything - double standards here folks - double standards
A 14-year-old being gifted by a parent an AR 15 against caution because said 14-year-old made threats against his classmates and actually following through with said threats and a 20-year-old going to a party getting into it and choosing to pull out his own gun that he bought is not the same thing.
@@maryhilton9039 none of these so called 20 years olds purchased their own - they are stolen and theses so called 20 year olds are more than likely under age and have criminal records and have been let out of jail many times
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. That is my permit and the only regulation I will follow.
One person should never become a Militia, or be allowed to own enough firepower to be a single Militia. That's one of the biggest problems we have now. We have guns that turn one person into a Militia, and most mass shootings use firepower that a S.W.A.T team uses.
The firearms mentioned in the 2nd amendment belong to the state or federal militia not for individuals to take home with them. Better READ ALL of the 2nd amendment, you're just cherryt picking the words you like. READ!

"Child access" BUT he's being charged as an adult?
America should not prosecute the parents of an ADULT for that adult's crimes.
He is not an adult by any means except the laws of the state he resides.
Yes this is basically entrapment, if your kid is struggling with obesity you don't buy them a pizza and a whole cake. This kid was having issues and he Bought him a tool of mass murder. I wouldn't hold him accountable as an adult. The father? absolutely.
Your reasoning is flawed
