This is straight up one of the greatest matches of Magic I have watched.
Absolutely agree, nailbiter until the last second.
New to MTG and this seemed epic! The risk reward attempt down to 1 life in game 2, the excruciator play to seal game 4. Then Seth sadly being just a few dmg short in game 5 with all odds stacked against him. Super interesting to watch
The true final. Unbelievable match. We watched history unfold
Unbelievable match! That gamble for Doomsday Excruciator in game 4 was a turning point for this game!
The commentator counting 31 cards was hilarious and insanely impressive haha
Marshal is the goat
them mfs legends, been in their shoes!!
Literally two of the best to play magic at this point in time.
match of the year
This is one of the greatest comebacks ever if not the greatest
Man this standard was really cool for the five seconds it existed
That set was absolutely nuts.
Witnessing the last great display of Magic before Songebob control takes over!
you fool, your spongebob and squidward control is no match to my chocobo aggro from the final fantasy set
@@andros1486 not when he hits you with spiderman's web
Amazing reverse sweep! One the greatest Magic matches of all time
game 4 is all of my opponents after I thoughtseize them on turn 1 lmao
Someone should make a movie based on this match alone. Really great games
It would be cool to see the cards on the screen (as they do in many EDH videos) for those of us not knowing them all, it's hard to follow it
I pause it and use scryfall a lot which works out. It was wayyyy worse before when they didn’t even have the card names on the left!
Two games won by mill. Feels nice.
I missed this match live, and I just finished watching the first two games, pre sideboard. How on earth did Javier seal this up? Stay tuned and I'll find out.
Dang
When you go for both Seth and Javier ❤
Unholy Annex is such a crazy card!
why does it look like Javier is in 2.5 playback speed
He was so nervous his reflex went into overdrive xD
EPIC
I woulda liked to see Seth ignore that Jace game three and hold up removal for a demon, then the next turn he slams breach and then Javier has to deal with the breach aftermath and he has to get a Diamond in play
1:11:55 he didn´t even need the demon. He can also play mastermind and activate it
Is this team CFB versus handshake essentially?
34:30 Can't help but wonder if game two was botched by not taking the Virtue with Duress.
I know I was thinking, Javier must’ve lost to this card a million times before hasn’t he
end of game 4, I wonder why Seth attacked? Javier would draw on his *own* upkeep, and then it would be *Javier's* job to kill Seth before he decked out. by giving Javier a convenient way to sac the Excruciator, Seth seemed to have sealed off his win condition
The excrutionator is a 3 turn clock on Seth, so he needs it gone on some way (There's no way Seth can kill Javier before it, and there's 6 cards in Javier's library which is exactly three turns even with the excrutionator)
We see that Seth has two removal spells im his hands and Javier has two reefs.
If Seth did not attack, he would need to spend one removal on excrutionator, which means he would have one removal left while there are two reefs left on Javier's board, which means Seth will be decked out
If Seth didn't use a removal and let Overload and Excrutionator trade, Seth will be decked out first if they just take turns drawing
In the end, Seth had two removal spells and needed to remove three creatures, so it wa a lost game already
is Archfiend of the Dross the best card in standard????
Is this sped up?
No, they are just really nervous
Pretty happy dominguez won. I like to see players show emotion rather than 90% of players like seth who looks like someone skinned his cat when he wins
Talai, maquina!
imagine if Seth pillage for 32 cards and whiff
I thought jace was better then all but i guess it double Jace.
doomsday indeed
Are you going to print more cards in Spanish now?
To me playing 28 land with no draw besides beans, plus you get 4 land from green overlords, he cannot match that draw on consistent basis, that what lost him the game
Couch pro😂
I agree actually, 28 lands in a ramp deck definitely seems excessive. Though his deck did take him to Top 8, so that's worth noting.
@@Justnothankyou132 no just 30 yrs of experience
@@patrickpersianni5314 Me and you both but I don't have the narcissistic ego to say I know better than people winning large events regularly.
@@Justnothankyou132 i wonder why they win regular, they have money and teams and whole 9 yards we dont and i dont have a ego ,
wtf is wrong with magic the gathering playing off all these greats matches with out reediting/youtubing/and all other platform streamssss
5 games and only 2 were even really games lol. Magic is depressing these days 2 of the best players of all time and 3 of the games could’ve been won by anyone they were so lopsided.
great match, but nothing is more annoying than someone shuffling his hand non stop as if a card will magically appear if you shuffle enough..
JD played game 2 way too cautiously.
Many times if he just cast the excruciator he would have won
@@mikealritchie3909 Nah. Seth would reanimate his Farie mastermind and deck him out lol. If he cast it he would instantly die. There's more to magic than ya think lol
@@George-dk6vf he had two turns. And two reefs. He would have won on attack. Seth didnt have removal. I understand the thought process. And I don’t know what I would have done. But from this side of the screen we know both hands. And he would have won
@@mikealritchie3909 no... Seth would have decked him. Lol.
Excruciator was a loss before he had 10 lands since he had 2 annexes in play. He would cast demon, opponent would draw 1 to 5, JD would draw to 4 due to excruciator, attack with reef and put the opponent to 1 card, opponent would draw the last card, pass and JD would draw a minimum of 3 cards even if he somehow removed his own demon and lose
wtf is with Javier constantly shuffling the cards Ina hands, it’s so freaking annoying and give me bad anxiety
Great match but Javier gotta chill at the end. Just throwing the jaces on the table then very pushy to get Seth to scoop. Just let the guy think. Game isn’t over until it’s actually over
it was over, seth was having a hard time admitting it to himself.
I think the judge was talking to him about an infraction going on the books and that’s why he mentioned scooping, ie games already over so no infraction needed
Javier was a bit toxic. Forcing people to scoop when its not over, throwing card etc.. the kind of player you don't wanna play a game with.
How do you force someone to scoop? Is this a joke?
Youre right he force opponent to scoop
Is Dominguez ok? He seems Hella annoyed and a bad sport while playing. Yikes. No thanks.
It’s not kitchen table magic. Big money on the line. This is a career for him. Try to understand.
Why is he constantly shuffling his cards? Making me nervous man
g1 Dominguez cried like a baby
Can we please go back to online games? 😊
was watching, enjoying. Then I saw the pronouns...

@@iampepheb I'm sorry that you don't see the dangers of compelled speech.
I’ve played MtG since the summer of 1993 and it pains me to say it, but standard is garbage now… It’s low IQ aggro nonsense across the board, if I wanted to play a TCG for people with the mental acuity of a toddler, I’d play hearthstone
There's still time to quit thirty years ago or not.
Let go.
Oh, you may have missed the point of my comment, I did quit playing Standard and I’ll never go back unless some seriously drastic changes are implemented. I love MtG more than some people love their children and I will never turn my back on the game until I’m in the ground. I was expressing my displeasure with the current state of STANDARD, not MtG as a whole. I was alive and playing MtG when an IQ consisting of 3 digits was a all but a prerequisite for success, so I am saddened by the perpetual “dumbing down” of the format in hopes of maximizing profits. If you can’t understand that, I’m sorry, but who the fuck are you to trivialize my opinion?!?? Telling me to quit something I’ve invested 30 years and $85,000.00-$100,000.00 into because I pointed out an issue (and one that I’m not alone in identifying) is ridiculous. That’s like a right winger who tells other Americans they should leave the US because they spoke up about an issue they noticed regarding how America operates. I was part of the first generation of MtG players and I’m not puffing up my chest or trying to seem important, but it’s at least in some way due to people like me that you even have the opportunity to play MtG. If people like me didn’t spend money, invest time and breathlessly evangelize for WotC to anyone who would listen, there’s no guarantee the game would have survived, let alone thrived. I don’t wish to be adversarial and I apologize if I come across that way, again not my intent. I don’t have many hobbies that I carried through my adolescence into adulthood, so the one that made the journey holds a very special place in my soul and I take it seriously. I truly just wanted to share my opinion as an individual with more years of MtG experience than many MtG players have years of existence…
Commenting on a video of 2 grindy decks
why the heck is the he/him under seths name? ridiculous! of course he's a man duh
