This IS the studio version, it's just that it's the original version recorded in November 2000 and featured on the original Goodlife Recordings release of STST. The version you call the "studio version" is the one recorded in February 2001, the first A7X studio recording to feature Synyster Gates, featured on the Warmness on the Soul EP (labeled 'Heavy Metal Version') as well as the re-release of STST by Hopeless Records.
I also prefer the second version, but I really prefer the fan-made "long version" that unites both versions in one. Fun fact: there was also a first version of "Warmness on the Soul", but unlike "To End the Rapture" it was never released.
Interesting. I'll have to check out the warmness in the soul alternate version if there is any video of it. I do like the fan made one a lot as well. I still wish it was longer though haha
Yeah, it's great stuff. Regarding the original Warmness, that version never came out or even leaked, sadly. It's one of my A7X white whales along with the Nightmare demos and City of Evil instrumentals.
If only the song was longer..
Warmness on the Soul is pretty much a longer version of this song.
The heavy metal version is longer
They've really gotten better over time, that doesn't sound much like M. Shadows
M shadows sound old but I still love em
his voice is kind of irritating in this song , just my opinion. Still a good song
Yeah same here... he usually has such a beautiful voice :/ They played this live yesterday and it sounded sooo much better!
You do realise Shadows was around 20 years old when he recorded this right? They just started out so of course his voice sounds worse than it does now

Ah thanks for the info. Still like the other version more though. I think it fits more with the album especially as an opener. How about you?
