    The blazer is STUNNING!!!!!! As a seasoned dressmaker, I have a thought to share. Think about a small shoulder adjustment. Shortening by just a small amount will make a difference. If you are unsure how to make that alteration, do look it up. Dont mess around with the armseye😂. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you are very talented and have a great eye for colour and style. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos, thanks so much for sharing x

      Ruth, I definitely need to adjust those shoulders, and nope, I will not mess with the armscye at all. That would be another mess to clean up 😀
      I appreciate your guidance, time as well as encouragement. Thank you!!

      I agree with Ruth! Your Blazer is stunning and You are such a talented sewist! I have to do a narrow shoulder adjustment on many patterns. Makes a big difference. Might I suggest a small bicep adjustment as well, it would take the wrinkles out of the sleeves, especially if you size down on the next one. Your attention to detail is above and beyond!

    You are doing great Missy, stop being so hard on yourself! I wait in anticipation every week to see what you have accomplished. You inspire me girl! I can see you getting orders for handmade tailored jackets in the near future. Handmade tailored jackets are NOT cheap! I had a tailor 20 years ago and he charged $500- $800. for a jacket. Because of you I bought a Claire Shaeffer jacket pattern to sew. Happy sewing 🪡

    Karon, your jacket is absolutely gorgeous! You doubt yourself which I know we often do with our makes. But rest assured all of your makes are gorgeous. You pick fabrics that are such nice quality and match with patterns that make them shine! Your pockets on this jacket are wonderfully made. You sew wonderful,,,, ,don’t ever think you don’t. But as I wrote, we often doubt we do and see our flaws. Others don’t. But we think and feel we aren’t sewing good or great quality. Take care. Happy sewing too. Nancy Wagner, Fort Wayne, Indiana

    Karon, I think you did an excellent job on this blazer. I followed the link you provided to review the pattern and the fabric suggestions. I don't believe that the jacket is too big, but
    it might be that you didn't use lightweight fabric like the pattern suggested. From what I can
    see, I might be wrong your fabric looks like a heavier weight that might not allow the fabric
    to drape at the shoulder like it would with a lighter weight fabric.

    • @cookeka
      @cookeka  9 месяцев назад

      Tricia, thank you for your time. That's all possible as I used a wool fabric. I will be making another, and hopefully, the shoulder adjustment will help.
      Thank you for watching 😀

    This is a beautiful blazer and you did beautiful sewing. Sorry it doesn't fit, but if you want to, you can probably fix this. Please consider taking it apart and altering it to fit you. It's basically the shoulders that you are not happy with, and if you take the sleeves off, you will be able to pin it to fit you. No special formula to go by. Just pin it and try it on. Keep re-pinning until it looks good to your eye, then re-sew it. I hope you can save this.

    It looks like a Veronica Beard Dickey jacket, a Dickey jacket has zips inside to add a dickey. A VB dickey jacket and a separately sold dickey would run about $900 at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus!! Out of my price range so I’m looking to make one. Check it out, your jacket is comparable and it turned out fabulous!!

    Excellent! It doesn't look too big to me. In winter, you could wear it with a light sweater or turtleneck. It looks beautiful.
    Question: do you send your wool fabric to the cleaners before sewing? I was thinking of making a wool skirt and wondering if I need to worry about it shrinking at the cleaners. I have this beautiful 100% wool but I am stuck cause I don't want to ruin it.

    • @cookeka
      @cookeka  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the encouraging words. No, I don't dry clean before, but I do after to ensure it's not shedding and it looks professional. Probably mine will shrink a bit during the dry cleaning process.
