  • Months of waiting for powder coat and it's finally done. Getting it all put together and making on final piece to the puzzle is what this video is all about. It's done for now. I do have some modifications (attachments) planned in future videos, but until I start shaping metal, this is as finished as I can make this project.
    Finished feels good.

that Stefan Gotteswinter reference by adding his usual intro music to your try to achieve highest precision when fitting the emblem made me laugh out loud, haha!

I do a lot of at home powder coating because I have zero patience for painting. If it flaked off of the part it’s because the part never got hot enough to bond the powder to the part. You can get the powder hot enough that it forms a liquid and gets glass smooth and looks fantastic but the base part has to get up to that temperature too or the powder just floats over the part.
I do it all the time because I’m impatient and pull parts out too soon. 😂
I like to hot flock parts by getting them up to temp and then spraying the powder. That way I get a layer that’s well bonded and then bake.

I was thinking of an Eastwood blue myself. Either way you have done an excellent job and will get the joy out of using a machine that you built yourself. Remember that feeling of joy when you inevitably pinch your digits and keep telling yourself it was worth it. Thanks for taking the time to give us a look over your shoulder while you work. Greetings from New Zealand, Vandy

you can use a piece of car tyre hose on the steal wheel
    it works well

Yes - I have seen that done. It's nice to have a dedicated wheel though it may not be as convenient.

I am not sure if you already have seen this video, but it is highly informative and recommendable in regards to the parts from the English wheel, in particular the shape, or should I say the various shapes, from the bottom wheel. Reinventing The Ranalah Wheel (ft. Geoff Moss).
Besides that it is a very interesting project from a man who bought all the rights from a long gone brand from an English wheel, and now he is going to bring it back into production. He show's every aspect of the production. And it involves a lot of work.

You might dive into Arduino or Raspberry Pi for making a PID predictive temp control PID for an oven. Def not an off-the-shelf thing to do.
Or, one could go with an off the shelf PID (easier) of various functionality & price points. e.g. Watlow-EZ-PM-Bluetooth or SmartPID M5 Pro. (never used em myself, but they look interesting although maybe a cheap $19 version would suffice).

My plan, at this point, is to just do the smaller parts and things that I can handle. Big stuff will still go to the pros.

Pretty cool! So... how much more did it cost you to build it rather than buying the P.A.wheel? Lol That's ok I imagine the tolerances are much tighter than the other blue one. Can't wait to see it shape metal. Perhaps rename it "Canadian Wheel"?

    • @ThrottleStopGarage

Different league altogether. Total cost all in was around $1400.
