- Danish marimbist Anders Elten performs Jean-Philippe Rameau's "Gavotte et Six Doubles" in a new adaption for solo marimba.
J. P. Rameau's famous masterpiece "Gavotte et Six Doubles", originally composed for the harpsichord, presents a formidable technical challenge when adapted to the marimba. With its intricate ornamentation, fast single line runs, complex polyphonic parts and rapid one-handed arpeggios, it is certainly not a walk in the park - however, the musical matter, perhaps surprisingly, lends itself very naturally to the sound universe of the modern concert marimba.

Bravo!👏👏👏👏👏🎶 Amazing performance!
Thank you very much!
Unbelievable how fantastically you got this piece to speak. I utterly love seeing adaptations like this, and think it's one of the most 'useful' things a musician can do - Playing something on an Instrument that the piece wasn't originally wrote for - It forces the unusual in to ones playing in beautiful ways - What a beauty you made here! Incredible work Anders, thank you.
Thanks a lot! I totally agree - taking pieces not originally intended for the instrument forces one to learn/invent new approaches to sound and technique. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment! :)
So breathtakingly beautiful.
Thanks a lot, Laura!

Amazing job ❤ congratulations
Thanks a lot!
Hi Mr. Elten, I was wondering if you wrote down your arrangement of this? It's beautiful:)
Hi there! Thanks a lot! There isn’t too much to write down, as I’m more or less just trying to play all the notes and ornaments as written (quite a few low A’s have to be bumped up an octave or two). You can find the score on IMSLP, it’s included in the second book of Rameau’s keyboard works, I believe. Have fun :)

Thanks, I guess ;)
