The Rolex watch racket has been going on for a long time. I bought my Datejust new in 1973 for $300. They are now just overpriced status trinkets. Glad to hear that it is dying like other things in Geneva.
@@roflagain1 the AD’s are still in bed with the Flippers!, and walk in customers just get coffee and a standby list 😏!, do you believe they have a long standby list for a Datejust !, Actually they do!!!!!!.
I’ve wondered how Rolex AD’s are making money on Rolex if they only had exhibition watches in the cases and have nothing to sell. How do you stay in business if you can’t sell inventory. This makes perfect sense the watches are heading out of the back door. Instead of the watch making its way to my wrist.
I went to talk to one of my AD’s today and he said he’s been on the phone all day trying to unload watches. He said he has a bunch of watches but no one wants to buy them. They even offered me a Cellini moonphase 💀💀 I’m assuming it’s a bunch of datejust and models that don’t go over retail anymore that people are passing on. The Daytonas and GMT’s are still not available. But this goes to show you may be right about the back door..
where's Keeno again? I kind of drifted away from Rolex hype. I was sarcastic to the salesperson over the text who never calls me anyway. I honestly don't care anymore. I have SMP 300 Omega. Looking now into brands like GrandSeiko and Zenith.
It's true: I was passing my local AD the other day and in their alleyway there was a 55 gallon Rubbermaid garbage can full of Yachtmaster 2's, Sea Dwellers, Cellinis, and 36mm Wimbledon DJ's.
Underrated comment. Channels like this and all the people in the comments are just hoping it all comes crashing down so they can finally get one and this guy just tells them what they want to hear. Reality be damned.
I live in NYC i have my name on 5 ADs. This is bullshit. ADs only offering undesirable Watches. Daytonas batman batsgirls Pepsi sprites hulks daytonas... steel versions.... are still impossible to get. Dont know about precious metals cause i havent inquired about them
because the market price of these models are still alot higher than MSRP, so AD still can make a lot profit selling them back door, just lower the price and some grey dealer will take immediately. If a Daytona is around $33k, they sell it to grey dealer for around $30-31k, that's a lot of profit given the fact that they already have 40% commission of MSRP price.
I’m glad to hear Rolex availability is freeing up at authorised dealers. True watch fans have a realistic chance of getting their dream watch for the suggested retail price. What’s not to like?
If you only like buying New watches. Rolex has started doing certified preowned. There’s a bunch of Rolex’s you can get for less than what you’ll play form a AD after taxes. Only certain watch’s carry a premium over retail and those are the ones you’ll still have trouble getting. Like Daytona (esp special dials like MOP and Meteorite). You’ll still find that you have hardly no chance of getting any of those without a huge list of previous bought watches. You can get your Day Date now with no special dials or factory diamonds but you can find them cheaper not form a AD
Cutting right to the chase. You're saying the majority of the Rolex are Crooks. I'm not surprised. I've been hearing and thinking this for the longest time.
My Aussie AD called me for a Sub, OP 41 and Yacht. I told them, after being in a list pre covid, four years now, to shove them, happy with my $6,000 Longines Ultrachron with a finish far superior to Rolex muck
I have a different experience. I was a new watch buyer. Never had a watch my whole adult life until 42 Y.O. I signed up for the lefty GMT. After 11 months, i got the call in March. I have no negative things to say about my AD.
That’s perfect, I’ll wait it out further then. When people can get them off at MSRP, means I’ll eventually be able to get one below MSRP as someone took the depreciation hit for me 😀
Kino uses shoe leather to uncover the truth for Juan. Plus Watch Charts backs up Juan’s observations. Lastly, when you go to grey market dealer’s websites, their inventory of watches is low compared to the good old days of the pandemic. The last piece that needs to fall into place is seeing grey market Rolex prices fall below retail on all models.
10 minute video to say "AD sell these to grey market dealers, but the grey market is dead so now you have a chance to buy them direct from an AD" You repeat yourself so much
The ADs are now calling us up? I don’t need them anymore. I ended up buying my Rolex from the grey market, so let the ADs wait - they can know what it feels like.
1. It is very risky for Rolex AD to directly sell over MSRP. Bundling with shitty watches is more common. 2. I don't get your advice: run to the AD. If demand is that weak, there should be watches under list at the grey dealer sooner or later. As was normal, even for steel sports models (not Daytona), prior to 2018. Would really appreciate your view.
Interesting. I just put my name on the waitlist for my first Rolex ever about 6 weeks ago. Everyone told me it would be years, if ever. Even the AD told me it would not be this year. But 6 weeks later they called me and I picked it right up. I didn’t understand how it was possible. Maybe this has something to do with it
High end watches have been a real scam since 2020. Artificially high prices, fake demand, questionable supply. The customer was getting fleeced. Reality is returning. Remember who ripped you off.
Great message, sir! But the background music is even nicer, totally enjoyed the topic and the content! I was considering Omega for a long time, but with their price increases, it´s almost a no brainer to go to Rolex AD at MSRP again. The watch market is really weird, I must admit.
This background music is awesome 😂 maybe the ADs are scared of being pushed out. With Rolex buying Bucherer…. existing ADs are shitting bricks and starting to play by the rules.
This is why I’ll never buy a Rolex. I wouldn’t be caught dead with one on. They can take their sham business model and stick it where sun doesn’t shine.
I was asked if I was interested in an Airking when sniffing around an AD in Schiphol Airport. A year ago I would have jumped at it. I politely declined. Not through stubborness because I didn't want it that much
What it is is that they held onto so many of them over the last four years when the market went crazy and now they’re stuck sitting out a bunch of them. Everyone knew that they were holding onto stock because no one was getting any watches.
I've been on a waiting list for a 41 datejust, Wimbledon dial, jubilee bracelet with yellow gold and fluted bezel for almost a year they still haven't been offered one. My dealer called me Thursday last week and said my watch was on the way but as of today it's still hasn't gotten there and they don't know why they think it's something happened to Rolex so it's still at the factory.
I got two calls from my A-D , they had the Blue Dial 41 mm Date Just , Fluted BeZ, Oyster Steel Jubilee, I passed on it , I’m wanting the Daytona with black flex band , white gold .
There’s a handful of full gold pieces and msrp for over $30k the ADs try to offload plus lady’s and Diamond crusted stuff or the two tone Explorer 36 … the rest is still pretty hard to get …
To say it's dead would be a bit much. You will still have an appreciating asset if you get a Rolex from an AD. It may take a few years, but if you hold onto a Rolex you won't lose money. But for sure the market is dead for the quick flippers now.
The market is actually just back to where it should be. Not dead. Not insane either. Ads are mostly offering less desirable watches. Not much has changed
I'm a lady and I'd like to buy a Rolex to reward myself for a very successful deal. What is a women's Rolex model that would be a great first time Rolex buyer?
The watch industry has abused its position with prices and the way it’s treated it’s customers. Many of us played along with it including myself but they pushed it too far and I’m out. I’ve sold my watches apart from one and I won’t be back. I hope they suffer as a punishment for their behaviour.
The watch industry makes watches. It is we, the people who create the hype and mania that leads to waiting lists and long lines (think Speedmaster Swatch). Rolex can only make a million watches a year. It is not their fault if 10 million people want their watches every year. Same thing applies to homes in a desirable area. The purchasers get in a bidding war and the home sells for more than than their asking price. It is not the manufacturer's fault. It is simple demand and supply. Demand is created by us.
This is basically the "it's just the free market!" argument, which hasn't held water for a long time. The watch market is heavily manipulated by the corporations that control it, like virtually every other market to varying degrees. Obviously there is a murky relationship between Rolex and ADs, customers have gotten dicked around for years, Rolex could invest in increased production but by various distortions (including substantial price increases) they make plenty and keep the supply artificially low. If what the author said is true, some blowback is starting, which will hopefully cut Rolex and their AD network down to size. Humans are not calculating, logical beings, they fall prey to unethical actors who should be called out and hit where it hurts for their actions. @@noneofus007
My son works for a Rolex AD he has told me that they can't sell over list because if Rolex finds out they could lose their dealership. They still don't have any popular models to sell e.g. Subs, Daytonas, Batmans, Batgirls etc.
Of coarse they dont sell over list. But they have a back door. He probably doesn’t even see the hype come in because its being traded on the side through the owner.
They sell the watch at list and a week after they sell the green card or white tag for profit lumped in together with custom cheap jewelry that they can put any price on…
Then your Son will know just how rare these high end pieces are..at best 4-5 Daytona’s a year for a large AD..then they have to maximise their profits they go out the back door at list RRP then a grey would pay the rest in cash knowing the piece is already sold it is Naive to believe an ordinary buyer will ever get offered these high end pieces maybe only if you have a huge spend buying Jewellery or junk watches. I
Why would any AD sell an ordinary customer a Daytona at list..when he can put it out the back door at double the money..only high spenders get the cream..
ADs were forced to buy a stock of watches for display purposes and not for sale. Rolex did not send them the paper work for the watches. Local AD had those watches for 18 months without papers. Only watches they were sent for sale are low end watches and ladies watches.
funny enough after 9 months i got call for wimbledon 41mm, which i rejected cuz of 32xx movement issues. but i know someone who went to buy date date 36 with diamond bezel, and i was sure they would pick it up on the spoit, and to my surprise, the waitlist for that one is 2 YEARS!!!!!!
Meh... why should I buy a product from a company that condones scalping on its products? With AD that are screwing the customer? If we get a real recession with hi interest rates like 10-12%+ these watches will be selling below MSRP. Anyway, wearing these fancy watches, especially a Gold Rolex is downright dangerous. I guess I have a secret lit display safe at home and occasionally admire this things in secrecy? Can not wear a fancy watch in any of the big or even small cities in America or Europe. I will stick to my Titanium Apple Watch. Battery lasts 2 days. Will get another one when the battery lasts a week. Does O2 Sat, HR, EKG strip, compass, directions, etc. Soon it could give pulse wave BP, Blood Glucose.
To quote 'A Few Good Men'..."And of course you have proof of this"? Rolex has increased their production and this may account for some anecdotal evidence of more people getting the call. To equate this to the watch market being dead is misleading at best and clickbait at worse. When you can walk into any AD and pick a sub, Daytona or GMT with no wait and those same watches are going for retail or below on the grey market, THEN you can start talking about the watch market being dead. The same can be said when grey market dealers start slashing their prices on sough after pieces or downright turning down offers to sell Subs and GMTs. The fact that some gold and two tone pieces are being offered along with some less sought after models, isn't indicative of anything. Also it's *Their, not There.
Don't run to the AD. Don't walk to the AD. Wait. If an AD has a waiting list, it is because they have been screwing retail customers in favor of gray dealers who are paying over list. The Rolex watch racket has been going on for a long time. I bought my Datejust new in 1973 for $300. They are now just overpriced status trinkets. Glad to hear that it is dying like other things in Geneva.
I’ve been to the AD in my neighborhood!, nothing for sale!, just Displays!🤔
I’d rather just keep the cash
Exactly. No watches to sell. What does that tell you.
Dont know about precious metals cause i havent inquired about them
NYC 😂😂
Worst place to try and get a rolex
They are all corrupted
because the market price of these models are still alot higher than MSRP, so AD still can make a lot profit selling them back door, just lower the price and some grey dealer will take immediately. If a Daytona is around $33k, they sell it to grey dealer for around $30-31k, that's a lot of profit given the fact that they already have 40% commission of MSRP price.
Heard nothing from an AD for 18 months, offered rose gold daytona, white gold sub and ss datejust last week.
" Drop,...,Drop,.......,Drop Some More!!!"
Why is there background music? Is what you're saying not interesting enough that needs some music playing in the background to make it interesting?
I walked into an AD last week and bought 2 rolexes in 4 days.
Cutting right to the chase. You're saying the majority of the Rolex are Crooks. I'm not surprised. I've been hearing and thinking this for the longest time.
The Pontiff, has secret classified information!
Horns hold the info
How to get cheep ladyboys and a hart attack by overeating?
My Aussie AD called me for a Sub, OP 41 and Yacht. I told them, after being in a list pre covid, four years now, to shove them, happy with my $6,000 Longines Ultrachron with a finish far superior to Rolex muck
The ADs buy at 50% + below retail. House of cards to retail customers: F the ADs.
I have a different experience. I was a new watch buyer. Never had a watch my whole adult life until 42 Y.O. I signed up for the lefty GMT. After 11 months, i got the call in March. I have no negative things to say about my AD.
Is this double-dipping practice only referable to 60%( ish) of Rolex ADs you identify or do other manufacturers ADs play the same game?
AP AND PP in asia are the worst.
Singapore headquarters is corrupt as hell
That’s perfect, I’ll wait it out further then. When people can get them off at MSRP, means I’ll eventually be able to get one below MSRP as someone took the depreciation hit for me 😀
I’ve been looking for a Rolex and over the last 6 months there seems to be a huge increase in the number of Rolex watches available.
If grey market is dead and ADs call their lists, the watches are going to go much lower if the people who are on the list do not respond
ADs think we’re a bunch of lollipop suckers, no no no no no noooo
This man has always been a truth teller, My question is how does this man know so much of the inside of the watch industries Playbook

Three people could keep a secret - if one of them is dead. Way to many people knows about the business model to keep it a secret.
Cool Lounge Intro. It was magical🍻
Dutch tulips sll over again.
I myself personally I wouldn't have a rollex not after the ways the ADOBE have treated people
10 minute video to say "AD sell these to grey market dealers, but the grey market is dead so now you have a chance to buy them direct from an AD"
You repeat yourself so much
Lol with the looming recession I'm holding onto my money. Maybe a few months later we can even get discount off MSRP from the ADs.
Finally. Now time for overpriced g wagons to come down to reality
Very true, every time you said the same thing in this video very true. personally I got it the first time but absolutely I make you right.
It’s over boys
The watch market issssssssss
Where ist Kino??
Maybe on his way to his Rolex AD Dealer??
Love Your Content.
Keep up the unbeleavable but true Content.
Is this the real father of Archieluxury? At least he keeps repeating things endlesssly.
Lol
I was offered the Lots as well but I have decided to spend on Czapek, Vercheron and PP.
I got two calls from my A-D , they had the Blue Dial 41 mm Date Just , Fluted BeZ, Oyster Steel Jubilee, I passed on it , I’m wanting the Daytona with black flex band , white gold .
I got my Rolex after 1 week wait. I was shocked.
Can you do a video on the sweaty hat guy?
There’s a handful of full gold pieces and msrp for over $30k the ADs try to offload plus lady’s and Diamond crusted stuff or the two tone Explorer 36 … the rest is still pretty hard to get …
Lets run to them and then reject it. Prices will drop even more
To say it's dead would be a bit much.
Continuing to fall. Enjoy
I went to rolex in hudsons yards NY. All the pre owned stock is 80’s and early 90’s
That’s right
I did it last week. Was at my AD and a lot of calls. Now is the call time. TADCIB ! The AD call is Back
My son works for a Rolex AD he has told me that they can't sell over list because if Rolex finds out they could lose their dealership. They still don't have any popular models to sell e.g. Subs, Daytonas, Batmans, Batgirls etc.
Of coarse they dont sell over list. But they have a back door. He probably doesn’t even see the hype come in because its being traded on the side through the owner.
They sell the watch at list and a week after they sell the green card or white tag for profit lumped in together with custom cheap jewelry that they can put any price on…
They sell to you at retail as long as you also spend a bunch on jewellery at the same time where the profit margins are huge
Where do grey market dealers get their stock from then?
Why would any AD sell an ordinary customer a Daytona at list..when he can put it out the back door at double the money..only high spenders get the cream..
ADs were forced to buy a stock of watches for display purposes and not for sale. Rolex did not send them the paper work for the watches. Local AD had those watches for 18 months without papers. Only watches they were sent for sale are low end watches and ladies watches.
Interesting. I got the call for a sub the other day finally 😂 👍
funny enough after 9 months i got call for wimbledon 41mm, which i rejected cuz of 32xx movement issues. but i know someone who went to buy date date 36 with diamond bezel, and i was sure they would pick it up on the spoit, and to my surprise, the waitlist for that one is 2 YEARS!!!!!!
No anymore
Meh... why should I buy a product from a company that condones scalping on its products?
Drop drop drop and dropping! 😁
This is something I've long suspected.
Anyone looking for 2 tone Wimbledon??? My AD has 1 in stock but i already have 2 two tone Rolex
Dumping all their unwanted Rolex models. Good, I hope the hype is over, but I doubt it.
