I texlaxed my curls finally. I learned where all my different curls patterns were and twisted the curl sections. I applied the relaxer (regular mixed with conditioner and olive oil) to the tightest curls first and left it on 6 mins max. I still have my curls NO (not one) straight peice. I am in heaven 😄😊
I am so glad i found you. I texlaxed recently after 6 -7 yrs natural. I could not handle the shrinkage NO MO. I totally got tired of walking around looking like a little girl after recess. I say do whatever makes you happy and feel beautiful. My mom is thinning so that is one of the main reasons i stopped using chemical, due to our fine soft hair. But a little dab will do you and I am so pleased with my results. Of course I cried because my tendrils weren't the same anymore but after a wash n go. I am good to go. I will keep watching out for your tips and styles. And the changing of shampoo and conditioner, I have got to get it right. Caroles daughter i think is great for most textures. What do you use? Also I use Ampro gel. xo
LMFAOOOOOO a little girl after recess!!! I know exactly what you mean! Thank you so much for the advice, you're right I have to do what makes me happy! I don't know if I've used carol's daughter yet. Might have to pick some up from the store tonight lol
Hey! I'm currently texlaxed. I've been natural before, and I love my hair . But, I always find my way back to a relaxer. I have thick hair, and with a relaxer/texturizer it just makes it easier for me.
I love my hair too! I havent had a relaxer in 7 years. Girrrlllllll I am so unsure of what to do??? I need to make a decision soon tho... My new growth is out there lolll.
Curly Monroe I literally just decided today that I'm going to texlax my hair and I was still alil skeptical but your video really helped me consider all my options! Cause my hair is to the point that it hurts to style at all cause it's really thick and I have to detangle before I even think about styling lol plus my hair is long and i just hate the shrinkage so I think im ready. Thanks for this! :)
I AM about to texlax my low porosity hair is making. my natural hair journey a nightmare. I have to be honest tho the single strand knot thing is scaring nag me. You are the second person that I heard say that. One person ended up relaxing because of them. I’m never relaxing again. But I will texlax. I don’t have time for natural hair.
Hey Girl, I transitioned from relaxed to texlaxed hair 2 years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. I can wear wash n go's, I could never do that previously as I have been relaxed all my life. I just love the versatility I now have 🤗
I basically grew up around relaxers. Everyone I knew had relaxed hair and I was relaxed for pretty much the majority of my life. My hair was unhealthy with a relaxer so a few years went by and I went natural. Then I found out that you can have healthy relaxed hair and that relaxers don’t necessarily damage your hair. Because to be honest when I had relaxed hair I wasn’t taking care of it. I wasn’t washing it I wasn’t detangling it right it was bad. And not to mention the way my mom was doing it was all the way wrong. Because in my little girl mind I thought you didn’t need to do that with relaxed hair. But now that I’m older, I understand that it’s all about taking care of it. I’ve been natural for almost a year now. Will I ever go back to relaxers? Probably not, but maybe I’ll try texlaxing.
No, you do what's right for you when it comes to your hair. I went natural 3 years ago and it's been the hardest thing I've ever done. It teaches you patience. It forces you to really get to know your hair. You paid your dues, so at least you tried. I'm gona hang in there and keep going. For me it's bigger than hair now, I'm really learning about myself. It's personal. Until I come out of this really loving the hair I was born with, I can't consider any other way. You look beautiful..
I wouldn't be surprised if many of the popular naturalistas are actually texlaxed. Cant blame them though. This is the texture we praise and try so hard to achieve 💀. When I texlax, I'm thinking of doing 1:2 ratio of relaxer (lye maybe) and conditioner to achieve this look. I miss wearing my hair out.
Many of them ARE texlaxed and some even wear clip ins but try to tell everybody else to use this or that. This is a fact and some people buy that nonsense!! I love this video.
I honestly think this channel and your experience are a Godsend to me. I have massively kinky hair. Like 4doubleC if that is even a thing! I tried to do a keratin treatment a little over a year ago and that went horribly wrong just because of all the heat involved. And the chemicals involved are just godawful! I ended up suffering from tons of breakage and I had to wait and grow my hair out a little more. Now I'm more or less back to where I was pre-kerarin treatment. But that just means I'm back to the struggles of having to manage thick kinky hair and all the breakage that comes with. That and I live in China which isn't exactly African hair heaven. The winter hits different here. I'm seriously considering texlaxing just because recently I remembered that when I was in high-school I used to mess around with texturisers and my hair was bomb. My mom used to do it too but she really doesn't need it since she's got relatively softer curls. But this might just be what I need to take my hair journey to the next level. I've always wanted length and after almost ten years being natural and my hair having never gone past bra strap length, all the products I've experimented with and time consumed trying to delicately deal with my hair, it might be time for a change. And honestly, that texlax life is calling my name!
I saw your video of what your hair texture and density was like before you texturized. Very similar curl pattern sooo I tried it. I would have tried to stay Natural until I accidentally cut out some of my hair removing ocean wave crochet hair. I was trying some different protective styles and really messed up my hair. With texturized hair, the chopped up hair blends in plus it is more manageable for me since I like to exercise twice a day (need to lose a lot of weight y'all ). I can pineapple 🍍 at night and do a weekly wash and go.
Are you still able to do a Cherry Lola Treatment &/or the Maximum Hydration Method on your hair after a texlax? Or would you need to do it at all after the texlax? I am 4C & I was thinking about doing this? Your hair looks beautiful too.
I have two questions.. I hope u answer.. One.. is ur hair feeling soft? Or stiff as when u use relaxers.. Two.. is ur hair growing and retaining length? I realized its been four years since u texlaxed and by now ur hair should be half way ur back i guess?? Pls let me know.. very appreciated 🙏 ☺
My hair never felt stiff when I used relaxers both soft either way. I did have my relaxers done professionally maybe that made a difference? My hair is down my back when straight. It has been the same for a long time. I am noticing a lot more tangles and breakage which im working on. Currently debating on relaxing again😩
Not a Nazi! Just wanna know, do you still use CANTU? I just finished watching one of your videos where you reviewed the KIDS leave-in, and now that I know you have a chemical in your hair, my question on that video is pertinent because I'm 'transitioning', do you think it works best for transitioning sisters or those with some type of damage or other chemical in their hair best. Because I've watched a lot of videos by Sisters who are TOTALLY Natural who don't care for the product.
No I don’t use cantu anymore. I’ve been protective styling and haven’t done a wash and go or twist out in ages. Cantu is a great product tho when I’m done with wig life I’ll be back to using it
I can't remember the exact time but a few minutes before what the directions suggested. I would go by what you feel depending on the density of your hair.

Not sure of hair type slightly coarser at the roots
Have your ends broken off like it would with transitioning hair do to the 2 different textures?
No but I the fairy knots are back and in full effect lol

I either use the just for me or ors texturizer

You know I meant to ask you, so does that mean your not using ANYTHING? Even 'protective styling' requires PRODUCT. What are you using now?
No literally nothing I wash my hair shampoo and conditioner and just do to braids for under my wigs. I’ve been so lazy
Wait...what were the cons?
Yo avoid ssk you have to stretch your ends. Curly Nikki talks about it
Does doing this help you retain moisture? My hair sucks up moisture and is so dry no matter what I do which is causing my scalp to suffer
I feel like it did!
im gonna do this but leave my ends natural
How did leaving the ends unprocessed work?
