I was waiting for this video ohemgeeeeee girl! Btw the texturizer you bought does say that it "lasts 10-13 weeks", so that could be the issue that it's going back to its "natural state".... Questions: Do you regret texturizing? Can you see yourself doing it again? (despite the edge loss and btw have you tried Castor Oil on them?) Also, side note for anyone who may be considering doing this, DO NOT have a certain expectation because you honestly never know what you are going to get. You don't want to get your hopes up and then not get what you imagined or hoped for. At the end of the day your results do depend on your "natural hair" as for how your results end up. If you don't keep it on for the recommended time that they give you then don't expect the wavy end results or whatever you may have in mind. Btw what she did was a TEXTURIZER not a TEXLAX. They are pretty different yet one in the same lol. They are both chemicals, but do differnt things in a way. "Relaxers ( which are used to texlax) on the other hand are designed to remove the curls/coils in our hair. ... Texturizers will permanently loosen your curl pattern and if used incorrectly can lead to over processed hair, damage and breakage." -Google (I didn't want to straight copy them loool but Google explained it better than I was going to.) Sorry for the long comment :( Just thought I'd help some people out who weren't quite sure about this.... Buuuuttt I hope everybody has had a good summer and if not I hope it gets better!!
I self-texlaxed for the second time 2 days ago. Y'all, I prayed so hard before, I think that actually made such a huge difference. The problem is I love my hair so much I don't want to protective style. I want to wear it and show it off. I'm worried that will cause low length retention. I used the ORS relaxer kit normal strength no lye . I managed to even out the different curly patterns . I went from 4c to 3c. I detangled my hair put it in chunky medium twists (20 on my whole head) vaselined my whole scalp around the twists. I was determined not to get any scalp burns. Applied the relaxer to the scalp. When that was done undid the twists. I smoothed the product through to the ends. Washed it out when my hair looked 'crimped' (it was like a zigzag wave). Then I did a aphogee protein reconstructor treatment . I lost only a few strands of hair but nothing compared to balls of hair when I was natural. I had been natural for 19 years the first time I texlaxed. I made the mistake of using s-curl texturizer. My hair was so weak and delicate. It was curly but so stringy, spiky and thin! When I used the relaxer, my hair clumped into soft ringlets. Best of luck to anyone wanting to texlax. Meka your hair looks gorgeous btw.
Curly Monroe I got my hair texturized almost three weeks ago. You were one of my inspirations before taking the plunge. The one thing I did was go to my old salon and tell her about my hair textures before she applied the relaxer. My hair turned out really well, and is much easier to maintain and refresh after several days. No more extreme shrinkage!
After getting to a certain length, it is easy to stop texlaxing or relaxing, because you already got your hair to not go up. It is difficult to keep your hair natural, because it shrinks so much and it is a hot mess in the mornings, no matter how you styled the day before.
OMG!!! I LOVED MY TEXLAXED HAIR!!!! I'm currently natural BUT I'm considering texlaxing again...my hair was so much easier for me to manage...I deal with a health condition & it takes too much energy to do my natural hair, also I've never had issues with my relaxed hair and it was always healthy & grew like weeds
Curly Monroe I decided to do it! I've found aloe Vera juice (I lock in that Moisture with my oil mix of grape seed, sweet almond & soybean & black castor & then I add Maui Moisture's Curl Quench + Coconut oil Curl Smoothie & Argan EcoStyler gel) works wonders on my hair & it's super moisturized. I cowash midweek & do an ACV rinse once a month & a protein treatment once a month
@@phattlife5143 Which texture product? I want to try but this is WORSE than relaxing! Not much information, way too many products. Texturizer?! Texture softener! Relaxer with reduce time??? Not sure exactly what to try and I know it will alter my results. I have seen that a lot of people are not happy with the Just For Me tho?
Product holy grail for me: aPHogee protein products. A relaxer/texlax breaks down the proteins in your hair and can cause breakage. I had alternated a deep condition and a protein treatment every two weeks. I was texlaxed over a year and those products helped me. Now I totally agree that if I stay on top of my hair game; whether or not it is texlaxed things get easier and my hair becomes trained.
I Tex laced my hair in May. At first I like it then I hated it. It was like my hair went from curly to stringy. It took like 3-4 weeks before my curls started forming again. Now my curls seemed to have returned. I did notice the different textures in my hair a lot more now. Like I have like an Indian Cooley curly texture in the back on the right side. The front is more fine and loose and the middle is kinky could and curls. It's a mess. I probably won't texturize again. I did like that my hair was able to hang down longer now instead of shriveling up.
I started texlaxing in May this year and I noticed more length simply because I didn't need to detangle so much and it was easier to style. I have about 60% less breakage on my wash day compared to when I was completely natural. I know texlaxing is putting damaging chemicals in your hair etc. but honestly, I have less damage and breakage now. I texlaxed my roots again last week and my hair looks about 3inches longer now. So I must say, texlaxing really helped me retain my length a lot. I have a friend that texlaxed too and her hair texture didn't look even too, like you pointed out in the video. So I was wondering why mine turned out great and hers didn't and I figured it must be the type of relaxers we used. She used a no-lye relaxer and I used a lye relaxer. So after doing some research, I learned that no-lye relaxers are easy on the scalp but more harsh on the hair, while lye relaxers are harsh on the scalp but easy on the hair. So that could be the reason why her hair processed a little more than mine (I'm just guessing that could be the reason, I'm not entirely sure).
Some reasons why people end up with different results even though their hair type may be the same: Amount/length of new growth, amount of product used (yes! the less product = relaxer you use - the less the texture will be loosened), smoothing with the back of a comb (will make a huge difference!), how much you diluted the relaxer with oil/conditioner, which relaxer strength you used and obviously the overall application time or whether you let it sit on your hair for some minutes or not. There is an excellent video by one lady on RUclips who really explains this well - will try to find it and post it here.
Well... Technical these chemical don't damage the actual hair at all, hair is dead. But you can under or over process and destroy the hair shape. Sodium hydroxide (lye) is in soap, but it's diluted and not so harmful. It's the skin and scalp that the chemical are damaging to. If your friend is willing she should let you try your product on her and see if she likes the results better. If it was no lye and she used one with calcium hydroxide I understand that calcium buildup can stop the hair from absorbing moisture. Those you are not supposed to use as often.
Ava Ava Mine too. My hair was 4c and now it's 3b/3c. I LOVE my new curls and I can now finally rock a wash n go with no trouble. I've always admired type 3 hair and I'm so happy I have it now (not that I didn't enjoy my type 4hair at all. I loved it. And still do. But spending all day doing my hair was just not cool. I had to live. Lol) Now it only takes me about 30min to an hour to do my hair. A huge pro for me.
Ava Ava I did it again last week Friday. I only texlaxed the new growth, nothing more. I had 3 months of growth. I wanted to stretch it out to at least 4 months but styling it with the growth was a bit of a challenge so I just had to texlax the growth so they blend in with the rest. Lol
Ava Ava It's all the same. I left the relaxer in the same amount of time I did the first time I tried it and luckily it's all equal. I made sure to do exactly the same thing I dI'd before and mixed the relaxer with exactly the same amount of oil as I did before.
after like 20 yrs being natural, I relaxed and the first two weeks were beautiful butttt after that it wasn't cute. also it did make my different textures more pronounced. I don't think I'll do it again.
Girl i miss your hair videos! i texturized before but i didnt know what i was doing and my hair got damaged so i went natural .Then i started to wonder again about texturizing because i wanted my hair to be at a state where its easier to manage so i did some research and i did it again .right now im texturized and my hair is as healthy as it can be lol i learned all lot while i was natural and i apply that knowledge to my texturized hair .
I texlaxed my hair 4 years ago after being natural for 3 years and I loved it at first, I had major hair growth and my hair was way more manageable. As time went on my hair began to break off and it stayed dried no matter how much I moisturized so I went back to being natural and have been for 4 years now. I have been thinking of texlaxing again but I am still debating, lol
I will definitely let you know. The deciding factor for me would be manageability. I don't have a lot of time for the maintenance of being natural anymore but I love my natural hair also. Like you said it's a hard decision.
Nysheka Martin What type of relaxer did you use? Try using a lye relaxer cos I read that no-lye relaxers tend to really dry out the hair after a while. I use a lye relaxer and have no issues with dryness. Just protect your scalp heavily if you do choose to use a lye relaxer though....
Nysheka Martin and make sure you add protein treatments into your regimen. Chemicals take protein & moisture from your hair. Straight Protein every 6 weeks
It's just kind of 2 sided of course your hair will be easier to manage if you take care of it but the issue with taking care of it is the time involved! So if it's easier to detangle it's going to take less time to for example to braid it at night like you should. And my natural hair it doesn't matter how much I moisturize... my ends dry up like crazy. Did you notice a difference with that?! Edges. Gggrrr. I can use any gel on my edges at all. My scalp turns black...I don't know what I'm allergic to... something.
I've been thinking about texturizing my hair for couple weeks now and I'm honestly scared as hell! I can't make up my mind on if I should or not ... in all honesty; I'm about to be blunt as I can be, I want to texturize so my hair looks like it got those natural curls. You know like hispanic girls with the curly hair? Or mixed girls? lol I think y'all get the point. With my natural hair, twist outs seem almost IMPOSSIBLE & wash n go's look good for the first 5 minutes then it's back to the big mama Africa afro. Please tell me I'm not the only one that experiences this. But anyway, the natural looking curls, smooth ponytails etc is really what I want to achieve.... I know you mentioned the part about your edges but on a whole, do you regret texlaxing?
It's such a scaryyyyy decision!!! Girl, I know what you're going thru!! I think that you shouldn't go in expecting totally different hair texture. I thought it would loosen my curls a lot but it definitely didn't. I don't know if I regret it yet! I'm still thinking. Someone else asked the same too.... I'm very undecided. ❤❤❤❤❤
Texlaxing will loosen your curl pattern, but you will not get what you don't have. You don't have Spanish curls, it won't give you that texture. It only enhances what you have and if left in too long, you can lose all your curls.
I just texlax yesterday .. But it look and feel the same I just want to know does it matter how long u keep in ? I been natural for 7 yr now my hair is soft .. when I put texlax n a 10 min or little more and then I wash it out.so is actually texlax now?
Yes, it matters depends on how coarse your hair is.. The directions specifically say how long for each hair type. I was just scared and rinsed mine after a few minutes.
Ebony Love I would suggest you use a lye relaxer instead of a no-lye relaxer. The results are better. Just do some research before you make your final choice.
You are only supposed to texlax your new growth not the whole length of the hair! If you do that - no your hair will not become straight. The run off while rinsing the relaxer is not potent enough to straighten your hair over time. If you are afraid you could protect your ends with some vaseline or protectant. Also keep in mind that the shorter the time in between touch ups the more damaging the relaxer is to the hair. So if you put a chemical in your hair every two months it will be more damaging than stretching for 3 to 4 months. Some people say if they stretch for too long their hair starts to break. I think most would agree though, that relaxing/texlaxing your hair every month or even 6 weeks will definately result in increased hair loss and breakage. As Curly Monroe replied: don't do it that often.

No, I need to cut them ASAP!

My detangling process is easy also but did u find it harder to detangle wen u start to have new growth
Definitely! I need to texlax now and its been so hard to detangle.
What’s on your lids?

Killa Kam DONT!!! I do it every 6 months. If you do it once a month you’re hair might fall out.
