  • Full face respirator or half face respirator is an absolute must in metal polishing. I can’t stress this enough. There are so many risks to not having the proper safety equipment. I cannot preach safety enough. I know so many polishers both old and young that have health issues because of metal polishing. Polishing metal is a risky business. You don't want to suffer from black lung. It is known as one of the worst things to suffer from. Be safe out there and use some sort of respiratory protection. The Full face respirators that my crew and I wear are available on goshineon.com/shop

When I used 'mothers aluminum and magnesium polish' to polish some aluminum, it really makes me dizzy and spins my head. I thought I got aluminum poisoning, but I was wearing a 3M N95 dust mask and nitrile gloves and 3M protective goggles. So I thought I should've been safe, but I guess I need a P95 mask for vapors. But I've seen people just rubbing this on aluminum without any protection at all. Is this stuff safe to use?

I don't use Mothers in over 20 years so not sure. Would have to consult your physician. My goshineon.com products don't have too many harsh chemicals and don't smell too strong so I wouldn't see an issue with our stuff. But check with Mother's or your physician.

You made that much dust from Mothers or was it just the smell?

What is it that we do not want to breath in? I’m assuming dust and black particles but is there something else that is dangerous to breathe when polishing metals? Thanks!

That is exactly it. The aluminum dust and any other debris that will come off of the metal or any chemicals that exist during the polishing process.
