Demario Douglas Will Be An ELITE Receiver For The New England Patriots

  • In my New England Patriots 2023 Draft Class analysis and highlight video, I gave the 6th round Demario Pop Douglas pick an A+ because of his talent; the Patriots’ need for a wide receiver, and the value of getting him in the 6th round. I got some criticism for this for the reason that I was being a bit “overzealous” about Pop Shotta and was told that he wasn’t going to make the team. Well, the spring and preseason practices have cemented my conviction in Pop Shotta, and hopefully, some of my early critics are ready to jump aboard the hype train for the 2023 season.
    In this video, I wanted to provide a brief overview of Pop Douglas and then dig into why he has the potential to not only make the team but possibly see significant playing time this upcoming season thanks to his versatility. If all goes well, Pop Douglas could be the elite receiver the Patriots have been searching for in the draft all of these years.
    I want to give credit to @PatriotsPressPass for the camp clips.

    Great breakdown and very descriptive profile on Pop. I feel that his skillset is going to enable him to be a very reliable threat and he will definitely be a fan favorite. He should without a doubt make the roster. Wouldn't be surprised if he breaks 100 yds with 5+ recs Thursday night👀

    Plus if his a bit further down the depth chart, having a small 5 foot 8 guy having more field time in the 3rd/4th quarter, I mean a tired 6 foot 1 corner would not like that match, Douglas will have a ten yard separation gap within no time.

    I’m hoping he puts on a jersey with 80 on the front and back. Also, you have been adamant about WRs under 6 feet tall are just not good for this teams scheme. I remember you saying this during a draft recap stream when you particularly didn’t like the Douglas pick because of his lack of size. Change of heart? Or are you riding the hype train?

    • @patsstats
      @patsstats  10 месяцев назад

      I had him as an A+ pick in my draft analysis video. His size can be a concern for obvious reasons, but his physical attributes help him close the gap.

    Knowing Senile Bill (Belichick) he’ll release him or we’ll lose him to waivers. Every year there’s one preseason receiver that stands out and deserves to make the roster and actually see legit playing time and SB f*cks it up. Austin Carr, Wilkerson, Nixon are a few that come to mind, I could probably name a couple more. Hopefully SB bucks that trend of utter incompetence and has him on the opening roster, his mistakes are more noticeable now than ever without Brady to mask them like he used to💯🤦‍♂️🙄😂

    well yeah , when your team sucks and behind all the time they are going to throw the ball a lot. even when drew brees finally got a running game in no he still slung it kore than anyone.

  • @jessereichbach588
    @jessereichbach588 9 месяцев назад +1

    Hmm, better than Boutte? I was kind of thinking Boutte would be the guy to emerge out of that WR core.

    • @patsstats
      @patsstats  9 месяцев назад +2

      Boutte could be a solid receiver... but he is still recovering from a foot/ankle injury, which has hurt his burst and top-end speed. Demario looks to be uncoverable.

    • @jessereichbach588
      @jessereichbach588 9 месяцев назад

      @@patsstats True. He still has healing to do. But I'm not sure anyone in the NFL is uncoverale. Douglas certainly looks fast, with great movement and a hard cover for sure. but his size makes that a bit easier to handle. And if he did succeed at his size, he would certainly be an extreme outlier.
      Guess we will find out soon enough.
      With Boutte, I worry more about his attitude than anything. Because the talent is definitely there.

    I love your enthusiasm for Pop Douglas. It is probably justified.However , your assuming that Mac Jones will have time to get off the pass. This offensive line sucks. Trent Brown is the only starting Tackle, the rest would be backups on any other NFL team. Brown is no all pro either, they are a Brown injury away from a 6 win year. Two of the reasons Brady was so successful, Volmer and Soldier. Those guys aren't walking through the door.

    Troy Brown was a 8th round of 1993
    Dion Branch was a second round 2002
    Wes Welker was purchased from Miami
    Danny Amendola was purchased
    Julian Eddleman was a 7th round pick 2009 as a qb
    ALL possession receivers can be had in the later rounds or free agents and they are NOT #1 receivers -get MAC 2 of these squirters and you will forget about Brady - Douglas and Buttie are the next up ????
