I use cobra F9 3,5,7 wood,7 wood is set to 24deg follows on from my 25 degree jpx921 forged 5 iron, Perfect gapping too and easier to hit but hoes too high for windy days
All personal preference. I actually think you hit the ping better even though you obviously liked the hybrid more. I think the way the irons/crossover sit squarer fill me full of confidence. I'd rather be 10 yards short of target than 10 yards left or right. Personally I think crossovers/driving irons give you more choice in windy conditions 👍
This is a Ping Crossover. I play a Ping 4 hybrid and 3 Ping crossover. This setup works quite well for me in different situations. If I need to come in high and stop a bit quicker I use the hybrid and if I need a long runner (either off the tee or running it onto the green) I use the crossover.
Was always a long iron player until after lots of testing I found hybrids that worked for me, so currently gaming 2, 3 and 4 hybrids and each one is a different manufacturer. Had to stop thinking about what I looked like and more on the results!
I carry that Crossover 2 iron that I hit 215-225 yards and a Tour Edge hybrid that I also hit 215-225 yards, however I use each one in their own unique situations. Off a tight lie in the fairway I will use the hybrid however in the rough or a fluffy lie with the ball sitting up I will use the Crossover because I prefer the deeper/taller face. That lie coupled with the shallow hybrid face could produce a shot that gets skyed up in the air, the deeper face gives me more room for error.
This is a Ping crossover. I am a mid-high handicapper who happens to love irons for most of my shots. Got a hole-in-one recently on a long par 3 with a TM Rac OS 4 iron. I switch between that club & my TM Sim2 Max Hybrid #4 off the tee but need something a bit longer. That said, I couldn't hit this club very well. I would dread to see what the finish would look like after a season or 2! I ended up ordering a TM Stealth DHY #2 17 degree driving hybrid which I hit much better during my fitting. The Ping was all over the place with horrible dispersion. If you are like me, try before you buy!
I have an older Nike 22* driving iron. I also carry a hybrid. What I use the iron for is off the tee, on occasion, and to get out of jail, since off the ground I can't get a lot of height, but do get a good bit of power, so it can help you escape the woods and other jail situation. Longer par 3 the hybrid or a 7 wood is perfect, good height and soft landing.
Dumped my hybrids for good old Mizuno MP-H4 in 3i and 4i with 65g graphite shaft. Easy to swing and decent peak height , always straight. The failed shot are skinned low altitude bullets straight to target. With the hybrids the rubbish shot is a massive snap hook OB. As an old subscriber, I would say that between Coach's old 3i Lumpy and Mark's old Rinky Dink, Lumpy is the winner.
Bought a set of hogan irons last year. The 4 iron was mandatory part of the set. Haven’t hit one in years. Feels great when you flush it! I’ve forgot that feeling. Hybrids are still part of my set, but I’m leaning back toward long irons
"This is a Ping Crossover" I love the idea of a driving iron! I just wish I could hit long irons! As it stands, I play 2 hybrids, 22* and 25*, and can't really complain. Wind can be an issue at times, which is patt of why I wish I could hit a longer driving iron, but the hybrids fit my overall game better at the moment. Cheers, Mark 🍻
I love hybrids and always did. I know a lot of golfers consider them beginner's clubs and unprofessional, but I don't care. Got a pair of G25 22 and 26 degree hybrids, badly worn meanwhile, so I will replace them this year with two G425s. I need a shaft fitting though...
This is a Ping crossover, and definitely in my considerations.. the individual needs of the player should be in their minds.. I have a srixon U85 4 iron.. my 5 iron flies around 200/205 (and high) my hybrid flies around 230 (even higher) I needed a 4 iron which was around 215 easy to hit high, but could manipulate to fly low if off tee or into wind which is a shot I don’t have with my hybrid.. I’m currently experimenting between hybrid and 5 wood to fit the 230 gap and had considered a more lofted hybrid (ala your set up bruh) but think may game would miss the low bullet fairway finder.. hence the 4 iron it what ever shape will win the vote.. great video bruh.. 👍👍
“This is a Ping Crossover” I just bought the previous version of this club (used). Maybe you where asking too many questions since the only green you hitted was your stock shot. For me the benefits are clearly in the tee shots, no overdrawing from toe striking witch I usually do. Good video thaaaanks
I carry the mavrik pro 18* hybrid and the cobra king utility 2 iron which is adjustable. I will alternate these dependant on course and conditions but both work extremely well in different ways
Played the original 4 Crossover. Mainly off the tee and when I middled it, it was fantastic but anything not out the middle was terrible. Back to a hybrid for me. Better off the deck especially out of light rough.
This is a Ping Crossover - I actually built up a Taylormade Sim Max OS 4-iron and 5-iron. They are sorta ugly and chunky, but at 16 and 20 degrees (I bent the 4i 2deg stronger) I can actually get the ball in the air with my medium swing speed. I find I can hit the 4i more consistently than a hybrid, and it often approaches my 3w distances.
I'd like to have seen you try and play 170/180 yard shots with both clubs as well, hybrid is winning that all day surely. The only time I sometimes wish I had a bigger face is in the rough slightly sat down, but could probably achieve that with different hybrid models.
This is a Ping Crossover. I am still playing Ping i15 hybrids because I like the looks and I think I get more good shots than I would from an iron like this. However I couldn't get on with hybrids for quite a while before I found the Pings which just fitted my eye and for no logical reason, unlocked good shots.
“This is a Ping Crossover” I use the original Ping G Crossover, 4 and 3 irons, which are also black. Use them both off the tee for about 200 to 220 yards drives respectively, they tend to hook a bit and I can exaggerate that when it helps. Use the 4 for 200 yards approach shots but needs to roll onto a green to stop. My Mizuno ST190G driver goes about 250 yards but I do have slice issues. On days then I only use the Pings off the tee, I always post better scores, but occasionally, down hill, wind behind, hot summer days here in Spain, that driver ends up at 300 yards, so it’s a sirens call that is hard to resist. Golf starts again here on Monday, I am playing on Tuesday. Switched the shaft in my driver from stiff to regular during lockdown as a reality check for being 60 now. So will I choose the unswung, new shafted driver or the reliable Ping G Crossover for that first drive in 2 months? Don’t be daft, has to be the driver!
I have a mix of hybrids (2/3 & 4) and a MP-H5 2 iron that I swap in and out depending on the course / weather ... but more importantly how I’m swinging at that present time! 😂 Horses for courses per say - love my 2iron but it isn’t very forgiving when I’m a bit off! Another great video Mark
“This is a Ping Crossover” I tried the Ping G Crossover when trying the Ping i200 irons a few years back. Numbers with the 5 iron of i200 was very similar to 5 iron crossover. Do think I prefer hybrid, maybe questioning myself during the lockdown!
Have tried ping g400 crossover, couldn't get away with looks or feel. Next up the srixon zu85 looked and felt great but lacked forgiveness of a hybrid. Now got srixon zh85 in bag 16,22 Deg love them both
I'll take the utility iron any day of the week, having played both. I consider myself to be a handy player. I'm taking the utility for its control and how it blends into the rest of the bag. The hybrids intent to draw without input, isn't favourable. My miss is never long on approach if I'm using a utility, but I know it's an easy layup or I'm rolling up to a pin. Off the tee. Point and shoot. J33 Airmuscle.
Thanks Mark great review. I'm experimenting this year replacing a 19 & 21 degree hybrids with two crossover irons in 18&24 degrees. Looking for lower dispersions from hybrids. It will be fun to experiment with. This is a Ping Crossover.
I’ve had a Wilson FG Tour V4 utility for a few years now, I use it off the tee on shorter holes and from the fairway. Not the greatest from the rough but I tend to hit it straighter than I would the hybrid I had used prior.
this is a ping crossover. gaming a similar cobra 4I utility mostly off the tee: better dispersion, shorter club, flat face fits eye better with 23* loft. works in rough too!
"THIS IS A PING CROSSOVER". I always thought these clubs were intriguing. Definitely a game of trade offs here. I'm sticking with the hybrid though. Just more confidence overall, and I can still kind of flight the hybrid low if need be... Plus... hybrid putting from off the green. BOOM!!! LOL
"This is a Ping crossover"... I'm a bit of an hybrid myself. Playing a 4 iron (CB, traditionally lofted) and a 3 hybrid. However, I feel like I can do more things with the 4 iron, manipulate the height, the shape, more than with the hybrid which just consistently goes high with a bit of draw. In my next set, I'll likely get a 3 iron (but a bit chunkier than the blade/CBs below) to replace the hybrid.
Hi Mark , was a long iron play but now a ping crossover. I have strong 3 crossover i.e. 17.5 deg , then 3 , 4 and 5 crossover then my srixon z565 irons
“This is a Ping Crossover” I tried the Ping Crossover a couple of years ago and didn't hit it well. My technique has improved since then so I will give it another try next time I'm looking for clubs. I'd like the option of this off the tee.
I switch between a Titleist U500 3 iron and a Srixon ZX Hybrid 2. 19 HCP. Get more distance from the Hybrid but it's too close to my 3 wood and I have a tendency to lose it right. The 3 iron I keep straighter but can miss hit it more often.
This coming season I'm going to play a 3hybrid and 2 utility for the versatility as my driver back.up. hybrid is high draw and utility for shot shaping etc
This is a Ping Crossover. I started playing golf late in life and hybrids were coming out just about that time. It didn’t take me long to junk my 4 iron and go to an Adams Idea V3 4 hybrid. No driving irons for me.
Use to be an hybrid player. Traded it for G410 crossover. I'm more often in need of a low punchy shot (off the tee or under the trees) which I cannot manage with my hybrid than in search of optimal descending angle. Mark, I'd love you to compare crossover vs hybrid on low shots/stinger. this is a ping crossover
I like my previous version crossover. This one looks thicker like the older G400 and G. I feel like I can hammer down on it and get a nice straight ball flight with just enough spin to hold greens. I’m not a fan of black club heads. It’s tougher for me to see what’s going on with the club face. Their matte steel finish is best. “This is a ping crossover”.
I've got the previous model, like you pointed out I'm using mine to run it into greens as they are usually just of reach to me on the par fives. Happily admit I wouldn't be pulling it out the bag from where you were hitting from at pebble :-)
@@fullbarrell it's good in light rough / good lies but, like any iron, it's easy to get it tangled up in the thicker stuff and look a fool. Hope this helps!
Thought you were playing against Matt there! I'm a 19 degree hybrid at the top end, i like the versatility of it as well - mind you i can hit a 4 iron nicely..!
This is a ping crossover I had the first generation, it’s the only club I’ve had which similar feeling swings could give totally different results, every other club I know what I’ve done right or wrong, that was a lottery, same phenomenal shots, some awful shots, I couldn’t feel what the face was doing
I’m not a lover of hybrids, i find them very easy to over draw.. which I get is a flaw in my delivery more than the club... I just find I’m more consistent with irons... but I learned to play golf with a 2 iron as it was the only club I owned.
I game 23 degree hybrid to replace 4 iron and then I have a 20 degree hybrid . Both hybrids have interchangeable lofts. Sometimes I take out my 60 degree lob wedge and add the 4 iron back in and change the lofts down to 21 and 18 . Would be interested in getting something like this to replace my 4 iron completely and do they do this as a 5 iron (my current 5 iron is 26 degree)
So tighter dispersion, hits the fairway, and its the only one that stayed on the green...that's enough tough questions for me..😁 'This is a Ping Crossover'...
Mark, Yes, I've gamed a PING Cross-over to replace my 4 iron. One question, why on Earth would you buy a new PING cross over. The used market has tons of PING G cross-overs... They look to be pretty much the exact same thing. You can pick one up on the used market for 100 bucks.
Pretty nice considered manufacturing. Both shots in the bunker, only, the towy got onto the waterside bunker... Why not cut the crossover? Dont send it to the line, but along the waterline!
Awesome video! Any chance you could review the Cleveland UHX utility 3? Would be interesting to see if it performs relatively similar for a much reduced price tag.
Latest on Tiger's accident. I live five minutes from the location of his crash -- and let me tell you -- Tiger is LUCKY to be alive. Some very large trees in the center of the road which he barely missed. Thought Coach Lockey would want to know...
"This is a Ping Crossover" - I used to dislike hybrids and favored long irons, but last season I found a pair of hybrids that fit me very well and I've been playing them ever since.
Straightest golfer on RUclips hits everything straight. Not sure how much this relates to my game 😉
I've always had a 7 wood in the bag. Love it!
I watch the WITB of tour winners and found a few 7 woods, immediately swallowed my pride, dropped the 3 iron and went for it
I use cobra F9 3,5,7 wood,7 wood is set to 24deg follows on from my 25 degree jpx921 forged 5 iron, Perfect gapping too and easier to hit but hoes too high for windy days
I have the same issues he has with the utility/driving iron. I went to a hybrid and had issues snap hooking. So I went to a 5/7 wood.

This is clever
HILARITY..."...I'M NOT HITTING ANYMORE...EVEN I'M BORED" Classic MC...love it...this is why I hit the like button first and watch second
Got the TM GAPR mid 3 iron and love it. Use it off the tee and from the fairway.
19 hybrid and then 23 4 iron G410 crossover in my bag. Brilliant club

I just added the Srixon 2 driving iron to the bag for off the tee, love it, 230 ish carry and dead straight and shapeable too
”This is a Ping Crossover”. Lovely review taking different and relevant aspects into consideration. I will look into this club, would love to game it.
Bought a set of hogan irons last year. The 4 iron was mandatory part of the set. Haven’t hit one in years. Feels great when you flush it! I’ve forgot that feeling. Hybrids are still part of my set, but I’m leaning back toward long irons

Depending on the condition of the coarse, I have both available... If it is very wet I keep the long iron in the bag dry conditions I use the hybrid.
Currently play a Cobra King Utility and just ordered a Mizuno MP20 HMB 3 iron with graphite shaft as a driving iron. Love a utility iron.
“This is a Ping Crossover”

I still have the Rapture 2 utility iron in my bag. Love it
"This is A Ping Crossover". Nice video, good comparison, nice thoughts. Will look for these in the shops in the coming weeks.
Long irons. Never owned a hybrid. Have G425 4i-PW & G425 #3 Crossover coming in today.
Played the original 4 Crossover. Mainly off the tee and when I middled it, it was fantastic but anything not out the middle was terrible.

Love a hybrid but did love a 1 iron (karsten 2) back in the day, especially in the wind
This is a Ping crossover. Have been thinking about the g425 hybrid 4, but now I’m going to have to try the crossover.
“This is a Ping Crossover” I use the original Ping G Crossover, 4 and 3 irons, which are also black. The G and G400 crossovers were big ugly chunky things. the 410 and 425 look like an iron
“THIS IS A PING CROSSOVER’’. I use the PING G410 Crossover in the 3 iron 20 degree and 2 iron 17 degree mainly off the tee and get great results
I’ve got the 3 iron. Great club
I love the Ping crossovers with they made a whole set of them
Mark would you consider the Ping 7 wood with adjustable Loft over the crossover and hybrid?
Ping G700 irons are very similar
Have tried ping g400 crossover, couldn't get away with looks or feel. Next up the srixon zu85 looked and felt great but lacked forgiveness of a hybrid. Now got srixon zh85 in bag 16,22 Deg love them both

this is a ping crossover. gaming a similar cobra 4I utility mostly off the tee: better dispersion, shorter club, flat face fits eye better with 23* loft. works in rough too!
I play a mizuno mp18mmc fli hi amd absolutely love it.Feels like a mizuno but with a lot of help
BOOM!!! LOL

I absolutely love my p770 4 iron. I would never replace it with a crossover or an 4 hybrid. I replaced my 3 wood in to a 3 hybrid
I never could make good contact with hybrids... ever. This kind of club I like.
I'd like the option of this off the tee.
have similar hollow headed 4 & 2 irons. they don’t hook like way off line replaced hybrids. might miss hybrids when rough gets deep
I switch between a Titleist U500 3 iron and a Srixon ZX Hybrid 2. 19 HCP. Get more distance from the Hybrid but it's too close to my 3 wood and I have a tendency to lose it right. The 3 iron I keep straighter but can miss hit it more often.

I'm more often in need of a low punchy shot (off the tee or under the trees) which I cannot manage with my hybrid than in search of optimal descending angle.
Mark, I'd love you to compare crossover vs hybrid on low shots/stinger.
this is a ping crossover
Got a zu45 2 iron at 18* and a epic hybrid at 17*-20*, I am constantly back and forth between the 2.

How do you find your crossover in slight rough, not perfect lies etc.
@@fullbarrell it's good in light rough / good lies but, like any iron, it's easy to get it tangled up in the thicker stuff and look a fool. Hope this helps!
Older mp fli-hi. 2,3,4. Mainly carry the 4. The 2 on windy days or tight courses with houses lining the fairways.
Great review. I prefer iron shaping and roll. So this helps me as well
This is a ping crossover, not sure if I am good enough to use it, but might give it a try 👍🏼
Thought you were playing against Matt there! I'm a 19 degree hybrid at the top end, i like the versatility of it as well - mind you i can hit a 4 iron nicely..!
Srixon 2 iron, I love it.
This is a ping crossover - will try as struggle sometimes with a duck hook with my 3 hybrid off the deck
This is a ping crossover

Great video Mark hybrid for me😊👍🏌♂️
This is a PING crossover! Love them off the tee, not so much off the fairway. Opposite for hybrid.
“I’m a born threader.” - Mark Crossfield 2021. Great vid bruh
What would a MP-18 fli-hi be labeled? I have the 4 and 5 iron as part of a blended set.
would you feel more comfortable with the pin in the back with the iron over the hybrid?
This is a ping crossover
I have ping 4 hybrid an 3 crossover I have my reasons for this setup in my bag love both hybrid and crossover
I have a Ping G25 23 Deg Hybrid in the bag
I game 23 degree hybrid to replace 4 iron and then I have a 20 degree hybrid . Both hybrids have interchangeable lofts. Sometimes I take out my 60 degree lob wedge and add the 4 iron back in and change the lofts down to 21 and 18 . Would be interested in getting something like this to replace my 4 iron completely and do they do this as a 5 iron (my current 5 iron is 26 degree)
loving the content mate, keep it up
So tighter dispersion, hits the fairway, and its the only one that stayed on the green...that's enough tough questions for me..😁
'This is a Ping Crossover'...
Love this Ping Crossover!
This is not just a Crossfield crossover, This is a Ping Crossfield Crossover!
Hybrid for me as I don’t think I have the speed, what is the loft ?
I am neither. I use a 7 wood, currently. My longest iron is a 5i.
3 and a 4 hybrid for me!
Any good for higher handicappers?
I owned the g crossover but had to let it go. I could get immense flyers. Literally driver distance. Also found it less forgiving than hybrids
I'd go for the crossover
Do you have to be able to swing fast with these irons??
Latest on Tiger's accident. I live five minutes from the location of his crash -- and let me tell you -- Tiger is LUCKY to be alive. Some very large trees in the center of the road which he barely missed. Thought Coach Lockey would want to know...
I think I'm gonna get a hybrid to replace my 5i soon. G425 and Apex Pro are in the mix now that Titleist decided to stop their TSI2 line at 24* 🤦♂️
"this is a ping crossover" - love it!
If you were using these off the tee box, how high would you tee them up?
"This is a Ping Crossover" - I used to dislike hybrids and favored long irons, but last season I found a pair of hybrids that fit me very well and I've been playing them ever since.
I prefere hybrid because it's easier to play with bad lies, rough or sometimes bunkers on the fairway.
I use a 3 iron Version off the tee and love. I hate the way hybrids look
This is a ping crossover. I have one for tee shots use a hybrid more for approach . Interchange depending on the course.
This is a Ping crossover. I’d be curious how they compare to the HMB’s in the 3-4 irons.
I have a 4 and 5 hybrid I also have 5 and 7 wood. Right I have the 7 wood in the bag
