Couldn't agree more after hearing this years ago. I feel like this small accomplishment is actually a big accomplishment for me. It motivates me to do other tasks in my day and wish others would see the benefit in the small tasks to motivate yourself.
I saw this video right about when it came out….. Today is Thanksgiving 2021. I listen to this video just about every other morning as I make my bed. It takes about 2 minutes of my day. Actually, writing this comment that y’all are reading has already taken me longer. Very grateful for this speech and business insider for the animation!
Nothing more inspiring than the ability to complete tasks, give by a higher instance of power. F*ck everything that's individual and against the rules and embrace the cubicle.
Similar benefits come from keeping the kitchen sink very clean (perhaps cleaning it thoroughly before going to bed). Small thing that's connected to other things: can't have a clean sink unless the dishes that were in it are washed or at least put in the dishwasher. And once the sink is clean you'll want the adjacent counters clean as well...and so on...and so on...
My mum always wants the kitchen sink to be clean. She doesn't let you wet it. Even if you rinse a bowl or something she comes and cleans it straight away. Or if you fill a water bottle up and spill one drop, she cleans it with the sponge. And she yells at you for spilling one drop of water.
i use to make my bad few times a month, after watching this i do it every day and i make it best i can! Best quite is, if my day is miserable, it feels different when i see that bed well made :D
I think that since 1978 i have not made my bed twice and that was due to a simple thing like my alarm clock did not go off due to a power outage. I was in the Airforce till 86 and while in training we would sleep on the floor to avoid having to remake our bed. If we got caught, we would get a shitty chitty and get extra duty! So we always slept lightly...i never got caught!
why is there a need to make a bed when you're just gonna get into it and mess it up each night? Also why does it need to be perfect i mean it should be okay just to put your blankets in the right place and not have to fold it
scientist have already proven that there are things in your bed called dust mites and they eat your skin and they can also be inhaled which can cause asthma. So the scientist also said that leaving your bed messy will eventually kill them because they are being exposed by fresh air, so if you were to make your bed it would trap them in there and also trap dead skin and sweat and other stuff in there which lets them live
Personally I find making the bed extremely pointless. No benefits come from it besides it “looking nice”. If you really need a task to help you jumpstart other tasks like it shows in the video. Do something that’ll actually benefit you. Like doing push-ups, pull ups, or plank. Doing some sort of exercise first thing you wake up is way more beneficial than wasting that time making your bed.
I like it. It's the Law of progression at work by starting with the little things and working your way up to larger things.
HE'S RIGHT ON THE MONEY! I DO THIS EVERY DAY AND ITS SETS MY ATTITUDE FOR THE DAY!
I still do this every day and have heard this speech many times and this is why I do it.

I started making my bed every day after watching this video. There is something about that does feel good and motivating.

Another one. and another one. you smart. i appreciate
If you don't start the day making your bed, you've just started the day with an excuse.
You'll then justify reasons to avoid anything after that.
I don’t have a bed
Why is this not viewed a million yet?

I'm still not convinced. I will make my bed when the Karen's and Flat Earthers go extinct.
