    Hi from what i have been told i may be wrong but a gvm upgrade from Lovells witch i think you have got sure it increasers you gvm weight but the gcm is only writing on a piece of paper as there is nothing done to your vehicle to increase your gcm and this is not recognized by the federal government people may need to check with there insurance company's to make sure they are insured hope this makes sense.

    Just a comment about inverting the hitch. Unless the hitch or the owner's manual says it can be inverted it must remain in the standard position. They are usually designed as one way only. The Hayman Reese adjustable hitch or something similar is the best option.

    • @SvedosTrippin
      @SvedosTrippin  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes 100% correct, please refer to the owners manual to ensure your hitch is allowed to be inverted.
      Our after market couplemate hitches available at svedos.com.au are also allowed to be inverted.

    Really appreciate your explanation of weight transfer issues. Where do we find the rear axle weight limit for our prospective tow vehicles (before purchase) as carsales does not list this (and may not be correct)? Is there a website that lists rear axle, towball, etc limits for all cars?

    • @SvedosTrippin
      @SvedosTrippin  2 месяца назад

      Hi Mark.
      Unfortunately I don't know of a public database that lists it all. If you are test driving a vehicle you will find it in the manual either under specifications or towing.
      Otherwise you will just have to try your luck googling prospective vehicles.

    • @markunderwood9823
      @markunderwood9823 2 месяца назад

      Brett, thanks for the response. As a newly minted professional do you already know the weight limits for most cars, OR do you build your own database as you perform your weighing analysis (from the owners car manual)? I would be more than happy to reward you for some car pre-purchase advice if you know the details & can help narrow my search!😊

    • @SvedosTrippin
      @SvedosTrippin  2 месяца назад +1

      @markunderwood9823 hi Mark.
      I have a database of vehicle limits that covers all the common vehicles in Aus, it's just not public knowledge.
      I'm happy to have a chat with you and provide advice re. Vehicle choice.
      Send me an email at admin@svedos.com.au with your contact details and some info around what questions or vehicles your thinking and we can organise a time to have a chat.

    Just read the BT50 manual. It says if the van is over 3t the speed must not exceed 80kph. I bet not many know that and goes to show that the van weight really shouldn't exceed the weight of the tow vehicle.

    Personally, I prefer free camping or if I do stay at Caravan Parks, it is normally the type that are a bit out of town....why?
    As you experienced with your last episode Caravan Parks in towns do have theft and IMO it is by people that are opportunistic rather than organised, so by staying out of town you are vastly reducing the opportunity.
    Yes, it is a pity that we have to think this way but unfortunately today it is a fact of life.
    PS - I have a mini washing machine in my setup and yes it does vibrate a lot......I think it is due to being wall mounted therefore the clothes are never evenly balanced around the bowl.

    • @SvedosTrippin
      @SvedosTrippin  2 месяца назад +1

      We've not experienced crime to that extent with only a few exceptions (Alice Springs & Seisa) and in those locations the C.P's hire security guards to keep it under control, it seems like they might need to do that in Bunbury which is really strange as you wouldn't expect it there.
      Anyhow, we prefer free camping and quiet locations too for many reasons.
      If we ever get to design a van I think I would go with a floor mounted top loader, I hear they are significantly lighter than front loaders too which would be another advantage.
      thanks for watching.

You are more than welcome to skip sections that don't interest you. I will try to remember to put chapters in to make this easier, my apologies for them not being in when you watched.

    Going on your 228kg left you are in trouble. You then have to add weight of people and all gear in car

    • @SvedosTrippin
      @SvedosTrippin  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Peter, thanks for your concern and comment.
      The weights of my vehicle used in the calculations were from a weigh a I performed of my setup just a week prior. I had a full tank of fuel, all my equipment and accessories and all passengers on board when I weighed my setup. Therefor I am confident after going through that exercise that I was compliant while towing the larger van, however only just.
      But hypothetically, if my numbers were not including passenger's and gear, it would be my rear axel that would be the greatest concern as it would likely be over by well over 100+kg while the GVM would probably be close to its limit. One of the reasons I explained all of this in the video was to help people think of their rear axel numbers as this is what we find is over the most when we weigh setups on the road. Many people don't realise the TBM is added to the rear axel at a 1:1.5 ratio and it catches a lot of people out.
