100% agree we did a lap last year and the west coast looks to be following the same trend of over development and touristm as the east coast. We lived in Dampier from 79 to 82 and the changes we saw on the west coast since that time were a bit of a shock for us - as you said its definately not always for the better. We actually avoided the touristy places like Monkey Mia just for the fact that is was so crowded and expensive. Still its a beautiful part of the world and you cant really blame people for wanting to spend some time there. We see a lot more younger families travelling the country nowadays which I guess started as a result of the Covid lock downs. Safe travels guys maybe we will pass you somewhere on the road one day.
Great stuff Guys for calling out another one of the highway robbery charges being imposed on travelers in WA. I am West Australian and travelled up and down the coast many times and its changing for the worse. Many You Tubers are not helping. They seem to have a script they all read from. That is you must use the word "Epic" at least 3 times and say the phrase "It doesn't get any better than this" at least once in every episode. I often just turn off now when that starts. Anyways that's my rant as well, have a good one. Cheers
We visited Monkey Mia in May this year. We are from nz and even we knew that there was an extra fee. It is noted on your national parks pass that it is not included. We only stayed one night and loved it. Great resort for a night or two. Yes, we love secluded free camps and were worried about staying with all the negative feedback monkey Mia gets. But we are pleased we stayed. Many nz camp grounds cost similar or more!
Even years ago we found Monkey Mia was so overrated. We stayed at Denham and did day trips. We absolutely love Point Peron. We had dolphins visit us without any costs!
Wow guys, another great video. That whole area looked awesome! Well done, four points ticked off. Enjoy the weekend, safe travels, see you next week, Lyn ❤
We stopped at Monkey Mia a few years ago. The office staff were very helpful and got our hire motorhome parked up in an already full caravan park. Yes watch the dolphins bur a bit controlled and commercial. We had a fantastic cruise on the big catamaran. The feeincluded a day cruise around the bay and then a sunset cruise. We saw dolphins and dugong and the sunset was beautiful. The cruise was the highlight.
Congrats on ticking off the 4 points of Australia 🎉 Cheers for the heads up on monkey mia … definitely crossed that one off our tick list. Appreciate your honesty 👏🏼 safe travels guys & gals 💫
Thanks guys, we are stoked to have now done all 4, it's amazing. You definitely want to visit Shark Bay and Francois Peron, just by pass MM if you don't want to support parks n wildlife tax... I'd suggest stay out at big Lagoon like we did last time or if your not set up for off grid many people have said staying in Denham is really good.
Hi Guys love your work and content. I'm born and bred WA, so here a little bit of history on Monkey Mia. 45 years ago on a trip up north, one of the places I visited was Monkey Mia🤔 and back then an old little Italian lady use to take fish she got off local fisherman and feed it to the local dolphins.(things you see without a harpoon 🤣🤣) and part of her story then was how she was being pressured by the state government to stop feeding the dolphins because it was a bad thing. However like all state governments they saw a opportunity to take control and make some money. So now we have a third generation of bureaucrats thinking they know best and seriously addicted to tourists money. The dolphins are in worst condition than when I saw them all that time ago, addicted to food and can't really live in their natural habitat. Yep feel you pain and frustration. Love from WA keep up the awesome work 👍👍😁😁😁
Yes very expensive we stayed at Nanga on our trip things have changed big time, you really have to book ahead nor what i like doing enjoy your show keep it coming.
Love the down to earth commentary. Like you I dislike touristy venues (recently spent time at Blue Mountains and the hoards of tourists at 3 sisters meant I left quickly). Love following your adventures & your interactions with each other.

Money Mia! For a cheaper look, the boat ramp is just passed the resort and it’s free you have to drive on the wrong side of the road to get to it or else you get channeled to the pay to enter station! We always stay at Denham it’s more user friendly!
We bypassed Monkey Mia for the reason of the extra cost of park past. After all, we had a great experience of Dophins at Bunbury. Our WA park pass covers every place except Monkey Mia and El questro as they are private concerns. Oh, we did do El questro 😊
Congratulations guys, now you should hit the geographical Center of Aus, Lamberts Centre. Totally agree with the revenue raising, starting to take the shine of travelling out wonderful country. Anyway keep up the great work 👍
@@SvedosTrippinYep, there sure is. There’s also a book to sign and is road is dirt but very caravan friendly. Tried to send pic but wouldn’t work. Google it, there’s free/ donation camping there as well. It’s on Wiki, you’ll enjoy the serenity 👍

Just caught up with the vlog after being away for a couple of weeks and I have to say I totally agree with you about being ripped off to go to Monkey Mia and wouldn't pay to go there from Denham and really don't think we missed anything. As a West Australian I'm shocked at the fees DBCA charge to camp at their facilities. Our WA government is rolling in it and I really can't see how they justify the amounts they charge. Just on a side line, the WA annual parks pass is issued by DBCA and the MM fee is paid to Parks and Wildlife so I assume that's why the fee isn't included
@Lainiefj thanks for your comment. The thing that grinds our gears is you have parks and wild life set up with a boom gate on the driveway to MM taking money for a dolphin experience. We didn't go to MM for a dolphin experience we just wanted to chill at the resort, but your trapped into paying parks and wildlife for this "experience". And $60 to stand on a beach for 20 mins, well let's just put it politely and say its not good value for money 🤣.
hey mate, we are very happy with the DMAX. We haven't had to sit in the back but my daughter is just about the size of Mel now and she seems to have plenty of room.
So you guys found out why very few West Aussies go to Millionaire Monkey Mia......We visited there 40 years ago, BEFORE rash commercialism, and when the dolphins didnt have a 50m demilitorized zone (I actually fed them some small whiting I had caught that very morning)....Dont know which way you guys are travelling, but if heading South, prepare your self for Margaret Rippoff....Safe travels....
Yep it’s a rip off,we went out there a few years ago and didn’t pay anything, launched my kayak on the shire boat ramp and had a picnic right in front of the resort,we had our caravan at Denham.
Hi guys, as much as I resent being corralled into an expensive resort to be able to stay in this area (a few days ago), and yes, the dolphin experience is contrived, that it provides the many tourists with some education around conservation values is something not to be readily dismissed. (Noted the crew are mostly international marine biologists, likely doing important work in this area). If that awareness given to the general population translates into some degree of political will to protect and conserve places like this, then, for me, the mandatory fees don't sting so badly. Just trying to see the positive in things! And congratulations for making it to all 4 cardinal points in this wonderful country!
Isn't it amazing that all the best attractions in Australia are either sacred sites or run buy government agencies and are the dearest and are the biggest rip offs. Go figure
How about feeling a bit grateful for having the amazing opportunity to travel and experience these beautiful places?? $60 ? Seriously, you’re complaining about that? When it’s money that helps to run and conserve these places that enable us to enjoy them. Embrace the opportunity you are fortunate enough to have (when so many will never get a chance) …and obviously, if you don’t want to help financially….DONT GO!
Hey guys, another awesome vlog!!! 😧 What an adventure, you guys really packed in a heap of fun and excitement in this episode. Congratulations on getting to the 4th and final point 👏 just a quick question Brett, was the journey to Steep Point 6 hours return? And where did you leave from? See you in the next vlog. Take care and stay safe. Kind regards, Corrie
Thanks Corrie. We left at 8:20am and got home at 6pm. We did a lot more than we showed and checked out a few different things including some incredible blow holes. But yeah, its a whole day outing. We were camped at a gravel pit that was basically right at the start of the useless loop road.
The reason there’s a seperate pass is the WA parks pass is for national parks only and covers all the national parks. Monkey Mia is a conservation park which is why you can have dogs there. So they charge you for the conservation park. I’m not defending it as I think it’s a rort, if you’re staying at the park you shouldn’t have to pay that extra fee.
Yeah, as it was explained to us. It's because it's an "attraction" the attraction being the dolphin feeding experience. I will explain in a bit more detail as we diddnt explain it clearly in the vid. Parks and wild life are set up on the driveway entry into monkey Mia with a boom gate and a manned pay booth. You can't enter Monkey Mia Resort with out paying parks and wildlife for the dolphin experience. We couldn't care less about the dolphin experience and its not why we went there, but you can't opt out. Now Monkey Mia resort didn't explain to us that to enter the resort we have to pay parks and wildlife for the dolphin experience. Thus I would deem this a "tourist trap". What are you going to do? Turn around and not go to your resort booking, well monkey Mia isn't going to refund you if you cancle so your trapped into paying the extra fee.
@@SvedosTrippin it’s a rort. We live in WA. Went there many years ago before the tourists hit. Didn’t have to pay it back then. We live in Rockingham there are over 200 dolphins that live in and around Rockingham sound, every time we go out in the boat we see them guaranteed for free. It’s a shame they hit families financially.
Disappointed with Monkey Mia, but Steep Point was impressive. We live in THE Lucky Country. Your Vlogs show this and it is so fantastic. as usual keep safe and thanks.
The Monkey Mia fee is for a Marine Park not a national park. It isn't for the dolphin experience you just have access to that because you've paid the Marine Park Fee. Also, whiting don't have a size limit in WA unless it's a King George. That was a big whiting for here.
I've cut the paragraph for you as to what your fees cover. Again, it's not the dolphin experience. A reserve fee does apply at the entry to the park which is not covered by a Park Pass. These funds go back into the management and conservation of the park.
the resort is nice, its just parks and wildlife sitting out the front taxing everyone that goes in that stupid. But you can see heaps from Denham if you don't wanna support that, as many people have commented.
Hi guys I remember 1984 coming south from working and living in Hedland I drove down that road it was dirt all the way nothing there a tin shed couple of caravans and that’s it now it’s a over priced and full of tourists
Sadly it’s probably the greenies you need to tell to get their sh*t together, not us West Aussies 😉 It was like this 15 years ago, long before RUclipsrs started coming. The sole reason we have never been to Monkey Mia, even though we’ve been in the area multiple times. Horizontal Falls is currently on the greenies hit list as we speak 😢
I just had a look and its clear as days about fees entering. Would be annoying if it was just another expensive that wasn't expected. Read some comments. The fees a to help the dolphins etc its got nothing to do about u tubers filming. Thankyou for sharing looks wonderful
Yeah look. We called MM and made a booking over the phone. Could we have been more thorough in research, yes absolutely. Could MM be more clear on communication when booking, also yes. Fact is, you have Parks and Wild life taxing visitors to Monkey Mia resort as they enter the MM resort. (Also the tax is higher if you have kids, another of our pet peves) We did not visit MM for the dolphins and we have already paid our due to parks and wildlife with our parks pass fee. We visited MM to enjoy the reaort and its facilities. It's a terrible system and many people are frustrated with it.
Totalling agree with you the Money Mia rip off i have been travelling there for 30 years and leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth every time ( we have limited places to go in WA ) the whole west coast is a rip off Kalbarri, Exmouth all very expensive over, over, over tourism
WA Rangers would love it if Tourists didn't exist and didn't visit parks... they suck... Separate fees apply for various attractions such as the Avon Descent; Calgardup, Giants or Cabaret caves; Dryandra Woodland; Araluen Botanic Park; Geikie Gorge boat trip; Monkey Mia Conservation Park; Penguin Island Discovery Centre; Perth Observatory and the tree Top Walk.
I now someone who has 8 kids. They definitely wont be entering to expensive for them . Was it any special then all the other beaches. I didn't see any dolphins in your video.
I think it's just called the most Southern Point of Australia haha. They don't have a sign down there sadly so we brought our own, you access it from a 16km hike starting from Cockle Creek.
@@SvedosTrippin sorry my error I thought you were talking about Cape Peron. The fees at Monkey Mia resort are a rip off. Nice place to stay though. It wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have to pay all the peripheral BS charges.
The whinging is annoying - you could easily have done some basic research before heading to MM and seen there was a cost to enter. $60 is not that much for a family for a week and it goes to conservation - if you didn’t want to pay that cost, Denham is less than half an hour away. Whining about tourists ruining things when you are tourists yourselves.
Simple...everyone share on your feed to BOYCOTT monkey mia and take away the tourist $$$$$$ FORCE the idiots in government to take notice... and nothing does that better than making them lose money... At least change it so you have an option to OPT OUT...yet another awesome vlog, thank you
Its a conservation park fee not a attraction fee…. We have been going annually 5years and never paid the fee! If your smart there is an easy way around paying the $60 but i only share that with people that deserve it
OK sure, then they need to educate their staff as the staff justified the expense to us its an "attraction" with the attraction being the dolphin feeding.
Monkey Mia has been playing by its own rules for decades. Went there first over 30 years ago and wasn’t allowed to enter the water until the Overseas tourists had their go first….Nothing will change as people still go there and pay 🤦♂️
@@SvedosTrippin yep…Don’t worry the same thing was happening when we travelled in 2009….just at a larger scale now and more talked about with todays social media 👍
It what happens when places are over populated with tourist. sad to say it as much as I like watching some youtubers but it's you tubers causing the influx of people by making everything look like a fairy tale
Well yer im retiring in a few years I'm going to escape the overpopulated city off Adelaide and go see the overpopulated towns around Australia and one day find a nice place to settle down in hopefully that's not overpopulated 😊
I wouldn't say its entirely because of RUclipsrs. Australia population is growing, places are getting crowded and Covid changed things. But yeah, RUclipsrs are certainly encouraging people to get out and explore. There's no need to price gouge but, more people visiting rural Australia will bring money to that area with out the price gouging in my opinion anyway.
I don't blame RUclipsrs because they do a great job of showing us around Oz. HOWEVER, places like Perlubie near Streaky Bay were virtually unknown to anyone except the locals and a few others a few years ago. Now it's ranked among Australias best beaches on the back of attention from RUclipsrs since COVID. Now there's 80-100 caravans on the beach at Easter and even locals have book ahead to get a spot. So there's definitely bad with the good. The real problem are those that paint everything in a good light with no perspective just to promote themselves. And no, I'm not including this channel in that category
Great. Loved it. Congratulations on reaching the most western point of Australia. Loved the great family hug & happy dancing❣️Great shell collecting Kaylee & Owen & what a great find with the yeti cooler Brett. Hot bath was a special treat too. Great gourmet cooking Chef Mel. I've cut the paragraph for you as to what your fees cover. Again, it's not the dolphin experience.
A reserve fee does apply at the entry to the park which is not covered by a Park Pass. These funds go back into the management and conservation of the park.
thanks for the info :)
It’s not just WA, NT Parks Pass doesn’t include Kakadu or Uluṟu!! 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Thinking to stay there when we travel to WA but not anymore, greedy should not pay for another park fee!
the resort is nice, its just parks and wildlife sitting out the front taxing everyone that goes in that stupid. But you can see heaps from Denham if you don't wanna support that, as many people have commented.
Hi guys I remember 1984 coming south from working and living in Hedland I drove down that road it was dirt all the way
nothing there a tin shed couple of caravans and that’s it now it’s a over priced and full of tourists
How times can change hey.
Well done guys
@@juliekhann7018 thanks 😊
Sadly it’s probably the greenies you need to tell to get their sh*t together, not us West Aussies 😉 It was like this 15 years ago, long before RUclipsrs started coming. The sole reason we have never been to Monkey Mia, even though we’ve been in the area multiple times. Horizontal Falls is currently on the greenies hit list as we speak 😢
Yes, your comment confirms the title, Australia is changing, and not for the better...
Live with the prices, east coast has many pricey camps and CP. Then touristy things to do, just out of reach for most travelers.
Travel in popular area's is getting out of reach for many people that's true.
Great Vid....
cheers mate
This was a hard watch. Fact check yourselves before you make videos guys. There's Emus everywhere at the moment. Thanks for a good laugh tho 😂
You can see dolphins playing in the waves on the NSW south coast for nothing
@@ChristopherHendrie won't be long till that costs something 🤣
We went to Monkey Mia recently and 100% agree, we found it to be a very disappointing experience
yeah, were not alone.
Can I ask what you call the SOUTHERNMOST POINT of Australia
I think it's just called the most Southern Point of Australia haha.
They don't have a sign down there sadly so we brought our own, you access it from a 16km hike starting from Cockle Creek.
@@SvedosTrippin Google has it in Victoria, Tassie doesn't even get a mention
There is an Annual NP pass in WA.
Yes, we have the annual WA parks pass, doesn't count here.
@@SvedosTrippin sorry my error I thought you were talking about Cape Peron. The fees at Monkey Mia resort are a rip off. Nice place to stay though. It wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have to pay all the peripheral BS charges.
If you don’t like it go home Nobody forced you to go there
It wouldn't have gone touristy if it wasn't for people like you. Pure simple logic.
At least change it so you have an option to OPT OUT...yet another awesome vlog, thank you
Great video guys. Such a shame monkey Myer is such a rip off. I agree don’t go to monkey Myer. It’s a tourist trap of the worst order. Complete ripoff
Lol I am also queen of hurkle durkle 😆😆
Hahaha, maybe your the princess of Hurkle Durkle, mels the Queen 🤣
@@SvedosTrippin😆😆 Shes a princess too, and we are both queens 💪 one of my fave chicks in the world x
Read online. Monkey Mia dolphins are dying. It is a shame that the place is not what it should be. I will not be going.
Would recommend staying in denham and exploring from there.
Monkey Mia has been playing by its own rules for decades. Went there first over 30 years ago and wasn’t allowed to enter the water until the Overseas tourists had their go first….Nothing will change as people still go there and pay 🤦♂️
@@bradworthington8594 sounds a bit like elquestro and zebadee springs 🤔
Look forward to the next one.🥰
I agree… Monkey Mia fees are one of the biggest tourist scams that just seems to keep dragging people in … !
plenty of people not happy with it. I wouldn't want to be a ranger working there that's for sure, they are copping the brunt of peoples frustration.
Hi guys is that an intentional typo in your latest vid thumbnail? Truned instead of turned???
Thank you, it's a typo. Appreciate you pointing it out, I have corrected it 😉
High guys, lol, totaly agree with you Mel. Funny you guys have just had a rant about MM. We have just put up a video ranting about Cable Beach, we love Broome, but was just not happy with the amount of cars on the beach spoiling the views of the beautiful coastline and the views for the camel riders trying to enjoy the coast and the sunsets.
