The “London” that I’m referring to is a small city in Ontario, Canada. By no means am I comparing it to other countries and when i say it’s expensive, I’m comparing it to other smaller cities in Canada.

So true! Am in Vancouver and everywhere I went I was the only black person. And this remark "your English is so good!" Is so discriminatory they colonised the whole of Africa yet they reject the education and language we come with which they taught us

How can you guys be complaining about utilities? Here I pay 20k naira for 120 gig data cap that is slow most times and doesn’t even work other times. Since the prepaid meter system started in Naija, I use 10k for about 3 weeks simply because I have two AC’s and that’s not 24hrs supply o. I still buy fuel for my gen and oil etc. As for water, everyone has to sink their own borehole and treat it too. Not to mention roads, there are virtually none! How do you build your roads yourself even if you want to? Can you afford it? I will prefer to pay for quality service that works than to pay for services that barely functions.

Living in Nigeria can be tough..in Dallas, Texas for 4 yrs..May be light taken 3 times in..4 yrs. Bcos..of Thunderstorm. Hurricane..weather b related..heavy rains..but after 1 hr.its.. back ..in Nigeria you need 2 generators...day and night..imagine the smoke from the Generator. @@samuelunang630 As I’m reading this now my generator noise is pissing me the fuck off! It has been on for straight 4 hours and it may still be on for another 6hrs!
It looks green abi....what you don't realise is that when you encounter difficulties, it bears on your mental psyché. Some people have found these simple things very daunting and they can't cope .They then turn to alternative dark means to survive which sometimes ends some people in jail or on medication. No one is frightening anyone but, you can't get abroad and think that can take some of your bad behaviour that we overlook in Nigeria.
@@oluwolealabi8373 He’s not literally saying he loves the country. I’m sure he’s had a couple of good encounters with Nigerians hence the statement... ✌️
My Nigerians please appreciate what you have! I have seen it all and I promise you, grass is not always greener on the other side, if for nothing our weather, fresh food and social life is BAY 🕊🇳🇬🙌🏾
Thanks for this, I hope Africans get to realize that immigration is a scam... Go abroad not to immigrate finally and run away from your country, Africa is an untapped market I wonder why we are drawn to our masters we are conditioning ourselves to serve as Africans. I reject it.
@proudlynigeriaTV things are now very expensive cos the inflation rate is almost double. Electricity tariff has doubled plus you still have to pay for generator & diesel. I paid about 20,000 naira for useless internet service that lasted for 2 weeks. Have you forgotten about insecurity??
Ladies, thank you for this. Ive lived in Canada for 17 years and honestly I feel so bad when people in Nigeria don't get it when I tell them. Western world has its good sides but the stress here is out of the world. In the end, the same security we are crying we don't have in Nigeria is almost similar here. We still have break in, terrorist attack, stabbing, kidnapping and all. I have done the maths countless times... Living in Canada with a good job is preferable. You pay rent ones a year which is the cost of living for 2 months here in Canada depending on what you pay for rent. I want to relocate back but my parents are putting this fear of its dangerous in Nigeria but una still dey alive. Dem never kill una... So let's all die together haba! The stress is too much. Thanks for sharing I need to share your video to a LinkedIn conversation I was having last week. I think it would help to reduce my typing... My kids have experienced racism in school and I have also at stores and work place. Again, thanks. Let's connect! I would love to share my experience living here and something else on the side. Let's talk!
My brother, there’s stress everywhere ooo! Just depends on how you manage it, so that it doesn’t overwhelm you. And please, listen to your parents regarding Nigeria. They have your best interest at heart. Seriously!
All these points you mentioned sounds like enjoyment to me when compared to what we experience here in Naija. You said you like Nigeria heat, my dear, if you see real March/early April heat for naija, you go run. Anyways, i enjoyed this episode. Thumps up
Found your video completely by chance (autoplay) and I'm so glad I did. I have absolutely nothing that I can personally share with you two ladies and your experiences aside from also living within London, but I feel like I made 2 new friends just by listening. Such enchanting voices but also the genuineness you exude. Your warmth is incredible. I think you said it right, that Canadians in general can be ignorant. But you didn't say it with any judgement. It's challenging for us that have the fortune to be born here with relatively sheltered lives, but we could learn so much from the diversity of the cultures that share this country with us (like the importance of the family home). We often get too caught up in our own tiny life we miss the richness of the lives around us.
This video has really opened my eyes. Sometimes, you are living in a developing country and you thing your condition is bad but this makes my country seem more developed than ever no wonder people love coming here.
@@lesegomphuthi3275 avoid those mega cities because they are mega expensive. What a thousand dollars can do for you in Alberta or Manitoba, it cannot do for you in Toronto or Vancouver. These two are mega cities with high tax rates and living expenses.
I love the chemistry between the two of you and I'm glad you found each other! As an African girl who once lived as an expat I know what the loneliness feels like. All you want is a homegirl who understands you and your humour! ❤️❤️❤️ Keep up the good work ladies!
Ladies, so much that you covered in this video brought back memories of my early years in Canada. The culture shock and loneliness nearly killed me but thank God I survived. Great job my sisters!
You pay for electricity, water, internet and you get them right? That’s 10x better then Nigeria where you pay and don’t get. And the system has also made the people lost their sense of responsibility. Nice video both of you
Hi I am a Jamaican and know nothing about Nigeria or Canada but what I know is I came across this video accidentally and learnt so much while being entertained.. Thanks to you two beauties
Thank-you ladies from a 60 yr old white guy born and raised in Winnipeg. Going to school in the 70's there might have been one or two visible minority kids per 30 kid class room so those kids got the full, "you sound different and can I touch your hair treatment". Was this racism in its childlike form ? I'm not sure, looking back now it was definately cringe worthy behavior but we were kids and once we realized that kid was more similar than different to us we got on with the shared challenges of putting on our warm clothes and getting through the harsh winters together. The loneliness was real for most of us forcing us to get outside and embrace the climate and participate in community. Nothing brings people together more than common hardships in everyday life. I've witnessed the evolution of the makeup of our community and multi-culturalism makes it vibrant, interesting, and stronger. We are finer people because of it. Canada's Universal healthcare, although far from perfect, has at its core a noble fundamental tenet of being open and equal to all. This is why we should be fiercely opposed to any mention of a two tier system or anything remotely resembling the US practice of medicine. I understand the BLM movement and support it wholeheartedly as I'm sure I'm in many ways blind to white privilege even as it's right under my nose. Racism will not magically go away on it's own, Indigenous people in Canada have had to deal with it for centuries. I believe it must be taught out of the culture of a society starting with our children. Enclaves of black communities that offer much needed short term comfort to you are not the long term answer. I believe Canada as a whole strives to do better socially than most countries and I encourage you to raise your children in whiter communities, we all need each other here. This is the first of your videos I've watched and will subscribe to watch more. thank-you again.
It’s uplifting to meet and listen to people like you with elevated thoughts. It gives hope to a better and more positive future. I’m a black man living outside Canada.
I'll also encourage you to also visit Africa like Ghana for a week or two. You can choose to live in some nice air bnb order your foods or go to restaurant in good hotels around to also know about the outside world..
I enjoyed the moment spent with you both. The camaraderie was amazing. Keep your videos interesting and positive. You have enlightened us of so many things we take for granted: friendships, tropical climate, cultural heritage and such the like.
I'm currently in Tbilisi, final yr med student and looking to come to Canada for an MSc program. Also got a YT channel too and i share about life In Georgia(Europe). I hope everything works out according to God's will.
Guys you both are amazing. Thank God for teaching you giving you grace to be disciplined in the areas you needed them. We thank God for you sharing your experience so that we too can learn from it. Also thank God you have more time to read the WORD of God and get to know your Saviour intimately and He will guide you through His Holy Spirit and lead and comfort you all the time. You are not lonely at any point in time if you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Stay blessed.
To preserve yam discolouration, sprinkle a lot of sea salt and then ziplock it. It keeps the colour to a level, you can wash of the salt when ever you want to cook, or go ahead and cook/ fry whichever is your choice. Note! peel the yam, and cut into preferred size for boiling/frying, before putting inside a ziplock, then freezer, not fridge.✌️
I live off the grid in Yukon, ... after living in Lagos waking up 5am just to beat traffic to VI, i can survive anywhere now. Canada is nice if you had it very rough back home, and i did.

Great video. I am Canadian born and raised. Wonderful education for everybody. One way to get through the cold winter, is to embrace it. Go tobogganing, skating, cross country skiing and down hill skiing. Play in the snow and you may just fall in love with it. Drink hot chocolate.
For those leaving in Nigeria that always ask for world class health care at cheap or free, think again. You want excellent medical care, there's a price for it. The expensive health and high quality health care in the developed countries is one of the reasons that medical professionals are also highly paid in these same societies. Nothing good comes cheap. There's always a price for that handsome reward
Thanks for sharing your experience,I really love the content well detailed.I have applied to a school at Vancouver. Still waiting for acceptance letter. I love you guys Daniel from Nigeria
In Canada, electricity is called "hydro", because initially it was generated by hydro-electric power plants. You can see old hydro plants on Niagara falls
To prevent the yam from turning black. Cut it, drop in cold water then rinse and flash freeze- you spread it in a parchment paper and put it in the freezer for 2 hours after 2 hours you can now bag them in ziplock. Your yam will not turn black

About flu season, change your diet or your eating habits: in the winter ❄️ add extra pepper 🌶 and drink lots of hot fluids, cook with extra ginger and garlic 🧄, get vicks or any balm to rub on your chest, stomach and insteps. Whenever you feel your throat itching you as one of the flu signs, get fresh ginger and chew it. Stay Blessed and Shalom 🙏🏽❤️🩸🔥🔥
Thank you for the information! I am looking at moving to Canada, I have always loved the country and based on what I’ve been told it’s great. Just subscribed to both, you girls are hilarious! :)
I am so happy that I came across your channel and it is so great that you invited your friend on this blog! I am the only black student at my university in New Brunswick and there are only 3 black people including myself that live in town. There are also three Mexican families but that's it as it relates to diversity for my town (which doesn't have a transportation system but it has a hospital so it could have been worse). I traveled to various countries before I came to Canada, where I was introduced to multiple cultures which is why I think that I am adopting well.
Thanks to both of you. The experience is the same in Ireland where I live. In fact house rent is more expensive in Ireland than Canada. I have been trying to get my driving license since 2 years now (in Nija, I am an expert driver but here, I don't know jack as far as driving is concerned. In terms of racism, the Irish and the people in Ireland are very hospitable, kind and always wanting to chat. I love your program.
God bless you for these info! I knew that everything about "the abroad" is not always what it seems! As I'm considering relocating to Canada because of the current insecurity situation in naija, all these tips surely come in handy.

I use to live in Toronto, Canada. But true they are things about Canada that people don't tell you. Your money goes so fast there. A nice country though
Just wanted to make a couple of comments regarding the beginning of your video. First off, welcome to Canada. I also live in London and have been here for about 20 years. Please do not judge the rest of Canada by London. London is a beautiful city with lovely parks with bike trails. Of course, right now is very different as we are all trying very hard to get through another lockdown because of the covid pandemic. Let me tell you a bit about me. I'm 66 and was born and raised in Canada. Worked all my adult life from the age of 18 to 45. I got sick and was no longer able to work. Before I go any further I would just like to say I'm not telling you this for the sympathy but am telling you this so you can appreciate how lucky you are to live in a country like Canada who is very generous to immigrants these past many years. When I was in public school we were taught that Canada called itself "a melting pot" because of all the immigrants that were settling her after WWll. Both sets of my grandparents were immigrants. But things were much different then. When my grandfather first came to he and his friended in Montreal by ship. There was no work to be had. So they kept moving on, first to Toronto and then started working they way north. They finally found work in a pulp and paper mill town called Temiskaming in Quebec not too far from North Bay. You can check the maps to see how far they had to go to find work. Then they were given time off to go back to their countries to marry their fiancee's. They had given themselves a certain amount of time to find work and homes and then they would bring their new wives back to Canada. Grampa spoke of the when they first landed in Montreal they found a nickel on the street. They hadn't eaten in several days and with the nickel they could buy a loaf of day old bread. See in those days there was no such thing as welfare and there were absolutely no hand outs to immigrants. There were no groups fighting for immigrants' rights. Part two is next.
Thanks Cathy. I agree not to judge the rest of Canada by London. I am a Nigerian-American who currently lives in California but I went to High School in Merritt, BC and a part of my University studies in Vancouver, BC. before moving back to US. I loved my time in Canada. The people were wonderful, prices were reasonable, at least compared to the prices in California. Being the only Black person in the entire Merritt town, never once did I feel out of place. I was treated really well. Able to work for different companies. I have never been to London, Ontario but I can tell you that in the western part of Canada, it’s quite lonely to live there.
You people as soooo down to earth ; and I really LOVE you❤️ for that. NO forming over what you are not unlike some people 🙄. Keep it up my sisters. I like Osariemen's smile and Onyeka is so Calm; my sisters you are coooool.
Very informative! The Loneliness cut across everywhere...Same thing here in the Middle East. Worst still, No African market here in Tehran. The winter here is another level; as an African, I prefer summer; even though it is hotter than Northern Nigeria. Housing Is so expensive here as well. Love u guys!! Wish u all the best
Onyeka, I like you because you sound very authentic. I dont intend to permanently live outside of Nigeria but your video was quite informative---Thanks
👋 from osariemen channel...i think alot of the things you sharing are quite similar to when u move to the uk, expenses and loneliness...only thing is london has good transport connection but outside london in uk would be as bad. Ps: Also love the way you speak so calmly @onyeka, and yea flu shot is only 50/50 chance, and i know as a doctor i shouldn't say but i dont see its use🤣.. Love u both😘😘
Permit me to play the devil's advocate. I don't live in Canada BTW and I apologize in advance because my write up might be quite long but I have lost too many patients to complications from flu to not say anything about this. As health practitioners, we've got to be careful about the kind of information we put out there about any type of vaccine especially when lives have been lost as a result of the illness these said vaccines is supposed to protect us(to some degree)from I have to get the shot every year as a health practitioner. This year, it was compulsory due to the Covid-19 heck even the skeptics who are health practitioners were forced to have it or give up working until the flu season was over. Let me tell you that last year in one facility, we lost over 8 patients(within 3 weeks) aged 65-79 with complications from flu-it was no fun reporting their deaths to the public health office in the department of health. Yes I also know age and comorbidities may have contributed to their deaths. I also lost count of the no of staff that came down with the flu From experience, some people who have come down with the flu after a shot had their shot late or already had the flu in their system waiting to pounce. This year we had the shot about 2 and half months before winter and yes I am aware the shot has a 4 to 6 months life spam depending on the strain. I was expecting more cases but every nasal swab we collected came back negative of influenza A and B. Not a single staff or patient in this facility had the flu. Four years ago, it was compulsory for staff to have the shot, no one had the flu, then the government decided to make it optional, boy did we have confirmed cases of flu. I am not saying people don't die from flu even after they have had the shot, the flu shot is 50% to 60% effective in preventing hospitalization and 80% effective in preventing death from a flu complication in people of certain age group and people with comorbidities. Thank you for your time. Cheers

Your experiences reminds me of my first time in a foreign country..I'm not from Africa or Canada but I migrated to USA in the early 80's from the Caribbean..Even though my mother was a US citizen and had lived there for a few decades..There was still an adjustment period for me.. Racism was a major sore point..Along with adjustments to winter..You would think a major city in a developed country people would be more tolerant or educated about human rights and inclusion..The attitudes then haven't changed much today either.. Finding jobs was easy because I've a skill that was more advanced than the average citizen there..The areas to live was a challenge as I had my son with me, so schools for him and proximity to home and my work was a priority ..My wife was at University and lived on campus..Hearing your conversation brings back so many memories of challenges and adjustments it seems like it happened yesterday! Good luck
You had me laughing along with you all the way through. I am Jamaican and I came to Canada sixty two years ago, and my experience during the first four years was so much like yours, the strangeness of the culture, the cold, loneliness, the crying.. There were only 2 black families in the city of Toronto. I thought I had fallen over the world into another planet. So much more. How about having to wear hat and gloves to match everywhere even to work. You got me going. Enjoyed the video.

About the health care, I think we're in heaven here in Belgium. You get the best treatment in the hospital and some times it costs like nearly nothing. Emergency is emergency very quickly and you are well attended even before you get to the emergency service in the hospital. The health insurance is not expensive at all, what you pay for a whole year is like what other western world countries are paying for monthly.

Hurricane..weather b related..heavy rains..but after 1 hr.its.. back ..in Nigeria you need 2 generators...day and night..imagine the smoke from the Generator. Its expensive living in US but you pay for all basic amenities

My friend please do come o but do not sell your properties and everything you have in Nigeria to come here. It is not greener anywhere.
🤣🤣🤣
It looks green abi....what you don't realise is that when you encounter difficulties, it bears on your mental psyché. Some people have found these simple things very daunting and they can't cope .They then turn to alternative dark means to survive which sometimes ends some people in jail or on medication. No one is frightening anyone but, you can't get abroad and think that can take some of your bad behaviour that we overlook in Nigeria.
Racism has taken another turn. Its not blatant. Its incorporated in policies and institutions. Racism has taken an 'intellectual' twist.
Yes oh

Awww, thank you for your kind words ❤️

Hi
I am a Jamaican and know nothing about Nigeria or Canada but what I know is I came across this video accidentally and learnt so much while being entertained.. Thanks to you two beauties
❤️❤️

For those leaving in Nigeria that always ask for world class health care at cheap or free, think again. You want excellent medical care, there's a price for it. The expensive health and high quality health care in the developed countries is one of the reasons that medical professionals are also highly paid in these same societies.

Please tell us more
@@alexismum 😄 yeah

Ps: Also love the way you speak so calmly @onyeka, and yea flu shot is only 50/50 chance, and i know as a doctor i shouldn't say but i dont see its use🤣.. Love u both😘😘
Welcome welcome ☺️. Yes the flu shots are almost useless 🥴.
Permit me to play the devil's advocate. I don't live in Canada BTW and I apologize in advance because my write up might be quite long but I have lost too many patients to complications from flu to not say anything about this. As health practitioners, we've got to be careful about the kind of information we put out there about any type of vaccine especially when lives have been lost as a result of the illness these said vaccines is supposed to protect us(to some degree)from
I have to get the shot every year as a health practitioner. I also lost count of the no of staff that came down with the flu
From experience, some people who have come down with the flu after a shot had their shot late or already had the flu in their system waiting to pounce.
Cheers
