We have truck at work with beeper that sounds like a wounded duck. 12 years and that thing still works! UGH
This is the episode I discovered your channel. Guess I've been watching for 9 months now.
This is DEFINITELY NOT the trucking world we grew up in...😢
Safety people can never have enough flashing lights and beepers. Next they will sync the beeps with the lights and coordinate the color of lights with the reason.
Those underground places in Missouri are a trip.
I must admit that would have freaked me out delivering in there. That would have been a white knuckle ride for me.
The USPS has their stamp distribution center in the underground caves in Kansas City. If I remember the addresses in the caves are laid out by Pillars.
Yes the person was correct Kurt... The vast majority of what cameout of that old mine was rock for construction projects all around Kansas City... When the big construction boom of late 50's all the way to the mid 80's, A ton of mines was dugout for stone & others for salt... After the mines was used up.. They sat there abandoned... Companies bought them and retrofitted them in late 90's ish? to make them into cold storage bays .... Those old mines will always stay at a constant temperature inside regardless how hot or cold it gets outside....
Wow that was scary….first time for me seeing something like that😂
I don't know if you look at your old videos, but Ford housed a ton of ford mavericks down there in the 70's because they weren't selling them fast enough.
When I was in those caves the receiver told me they were old gypsum mines.
What an amazing experience. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Your eyes and head shake at the start cracks me up
never even knew about caves like this till now but this would be a great idea for them to do on the interstates in tornado country to protect all who is driving
Well, Opie looks just fine now that you are back home. Bless his heart.
Nice day for a truckwash 😆😆😆
You can definitely tell a big difference with the LED headlights in this cave from your past cave deliveries
I have worked 24 yrs underground only 48" of height though not enough room for first class😄
Hi Kurt that underground stop was very strange to an Aussie. The way you go out of your way to explain the layout of stuff I do enjoy ty. Take care stay safe 🇦🇺🏺⛽👍⛟😎
Haha that's awesome Dad still gotta take care of his son no matter how old you are! My Great Grandfather raised me and past away back in 2020 but even in my mid to upper 20s he would call my phone and check up on me lol I sure do miss it
Ummmm........OK. Well that was an adventure. Claustrophobia, beep beeps, and tornadoes. Never a dull moment. Safe travels and God bless.
You saw Daddy you got Opie your doing pretty good... lost both of mine 😢
The geology in Kansas City just lended itself to this," said Mark Martin, property manager at Parkville Commercial Underground.
During the Ice Age, continental glaciers advanced into northeast Kansas and northern Missouri, shaping the bluffs that contained two kinds of limestone: Bethany Falls and Argentine. Being a softer rock, thick limestone beds were heavily mined and provided vital sources of paving and building materials.
And it was relatively inexpensive to dig into from the base of a bluff. Most mining in these parts was horizontal, not vertical, leaving behind vast openings that people and vehicles could enter without descending a deep shaft.
Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 A good daddy ALWAYS tries to protect his kids, no matter how old you are!!!! 🥰 That’s Love, Dedication, Respect, Teamwork in the fiercest good sense! 🧐 They’re quick to be on their knees to pray for you, Quick to pick you up, Quick to cover your back & Quick to pick up arms in your defense! That’s A Fact, Kurt! 🧐 That’s how I feel about my family!!! 🥰 Be thankful for what you got & what you are. That underground trip was so radically cool! Be glad that you weren’t in a cabover.😳 I would love to do a delivery or pickup like that at least once! And it wasn’t crowded! Well, on the inside anyway. So the ac went out? Bummer! 😵💫 The backroad out of the underground was pretty cool & scenic. Love those backroads! 🥰 Glad you made it home & that it’s ok now! I’ve missed a couple of your videos since I’ve been getting new tires for my truck, getting it ready for a trip & attending school stuff. We’re getting there. Take care my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
I'm glad you and your dad made it home to be with your family. That looked pretty rough. Hi Opie and Jax.
I delivered a few loads down to the caves in southwest Missouri when I was an O/O. A number of them came out of Quicey, MI (Echrich), and one out of Horseheads, NY (cheese). Spooky.
Ford motor company use to store cars down there in the 50s 60s 70s 80s
Beep beep again but I'm a beeper too so one day we may running to you and my beep beep would be on lol
Do'nt you just love them caves.lol. been in there many a tine.
My comment has nothing to do with trucking in caves (which would have really freaked me out). Yesterday I stopped at my local DG to get milk for my Mom. There was a troubled young man at the counter ahead of me getting some essentials and was 50 cents short. I just happened to have some change and gave it to him. Sometimes all it takes to have a moment is two quarters in your pocket. Kurt, I think this speaks to you previous videos regarding talking to those who have served and guys like us who have not, and feeling pain for the folks in your neighboring area that had the tornado damage. Empathy is a double-edged sword. It's a good quality to have, but at the same time it can really sting. (sorry about the rambling. sometimes this old-timer CAN go on.)
🍭SWEET🍭With all that dust, First Class must have gotten a royal mud bath, yuk! Thank goodness for Blue Beacons! God Bless You🙏🏼
Dust In The Wind…🎼 “All We Are Is Dust In The Wind, Everything Is Dust In The Wind”🎼 by Kansas.
Kansas
Your dog is cute
Before I retired, I'd been in and out of 3 or 4 caves in kc and one outside of kc. I was told that those caves were created and used by our military for the storage of munitions back around d the years of ww1 and ww2. I'd been told that by many sources so I assume it was true. You run around many of the same places I've been. And love yr Shepard! And yr vids.take care
Well between the caves and the wind....... They at least kept you cooler 😎
No more caves, thanks been there done that no more....
I have to say those back up alarms have a purpose. When I was still in high school I worked as a lumper at a produce warehouse (Pathmark Supermarket) One day our boss and foreman came running down the dock telling us all to get off the dock and go to the break room. One of the Pathmark checkers was outside standing by an open bay door by the dock plate and did not hear a trailer backing into that door. He was crushed and died a soon as the truck pulled forwards after the driver was told someone was pinned. It was horrible. My boss saw him die. 😥
Stay safe you and your family thanks for the ride with you
People don't understand the danger that we put ourselves in out on the road. I'm glad you showing that side of trucking
Glad to see you get out of there. Just watching made me feel claustrophobic
Triple thumbs up. Cat. Mew.
So how was your day? Rumble, Rumble. Not now, now, BEEP, BEEP., Howl. Toot, Toot. Rumble, Rumble. Wail, Wail (Sirens). Stay down trailer. Wail, Wail. Oh, my day was wonderful.
The Space Center underground storage In Kansas City has the US National Archives stored there, old movies and films are stored there with documents cause is mostly dry place low humidity naturally. You can find US National Archives towards the entrance. Crazy tornados and stormy weather that time of the year in the Midwest. Glad you keep the rubber on the road and got home safely.
You need some (4) Tie downs on that RV TRLR just insurance for the winds.
i had 2 long days myself, rented a cargo van and drove 1867 miles all within Texas in 38 hours so no RUclips . come back and only see Opie 8 minutes combined in 2 vlogs duuuude !!!!! LOL . glad everything and everyone is fine tho , those Tornados can be brutal
I never knew anything like this existed. Amazing!!!
The caves are totally wild ....never saw anything like it 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Mr beep beep has a nice shiny new kenworth ...i like it
I don't know anything about Kansas City, but why & where are you underground and what are you doing? Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
backup horns are required on jobsites with moving heavy equipment. Every coal hauler across the country has them, I'm a former coalminer and used to them. Love hearing a turbo or jake
Make your videos as you see fit I'm watching...
i would like to see more of your cave videos if I can 😊,and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen the humidly on a truck leaving a😂cave😂
I’ve been in the ones at Carthage MO many times.
Wow I'd love to be able to go inside those...
Another great video!
Wonder how many miles of underground Missouri has??
Missing your companion is to be expected! And Omg, I don't know if I could do that underground. Never seen anything like that before!

The Caves
that beep causes a truck to go backwards is mandatory for us in Belgium I work on the garbage truck and if our vehicle goes backwards it also beeps Then at least they know that we are going backwards I don't know about you in America
Been there...
wow watching this video and wondering how many truckers said nope not going in there lol arms have to be sore with all that tight turning really enjoyed the video!
No way I could do that my heart rate jumped watching it.
Well there's 8:55 seconds of my life slowly entering that tunnel i will never get back . LOL. Thanks Schmidt. Stay safe. Much respect from CANADA 🇨🇦
Lol I wasn't sure if to cut it down or just leave it
@@truckingwithschmidt7120, glad you left it. Brings back memories of being in the tunnels.
OMG that place was tight !!! Some of the other ones I've been to are way better than that got way more room. Thanks for the video
Glad you’re safe
One of your most different and especially in videos. This is one of my favorites of yours.
Those back up beep beeps are mandatory on all trucks here in Pennsylvania big or small ....im totally used to it and like it versus beeping the horn 😆
There is an entrance to that place in Springfield Missouri.
Springfield Underground is a TOTALLY different place. They aren't connected!
You were at 435/23rd street cave
We are both glad that you and dad make it home safe. God Bless you all.
That storm Thursday afternoon in south dakota where im from we had 107 mph winds. It took my 102 year old barn down. Tore off a roof, about collapsed my garage took my swing set tore siding off the house and blew my back door off and filled my whole house full of dirt. Glad u guys r safe. I can post pictures and videos on Facebook if u want
Wow
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 if u want to see pictures i can send to the Facebook page
I was at the pilot/ FlyingJ yesterday by the subtropolis. Went to Tennessee now setting in Fremont Nebraska. Expediting has been busy for me the past few days. Stay safe out there!!
Keep your camper anchored down for those, "windy" times???
Delivered and picked up in several of them years ago. Most people never have the opportunity to experience.
Holy moly 😬
Yeah them caves are more than a bit dodgy, that dust is certainly from the ceiling aswell as diesel fuel, ceiling was cracked in a few and freshly treated, also couple of areas where the pillars were damaged and the concrete shoring them up (especially the one that had popped!) don't inspire my confidence!
Glad you got back to the family safe! Opie will be glad when he's back shotgun instead of stressing back 'home'
I really hope I get chance to move out to the US and get a few years trucking before it all goes to hell and get to chase tornado's (yes i'm one of those) Would love a FLD something about em!
Keep her shiny side up Kurt and health to you and the family!
Absolutely terrifying.
We don’t have a basement, we have a crawl space. You can stand up in it, but don’t go in there, when my son was younger the only spot in our house is the bathroom, no windows and interior room. As for me, I will be outside, I want to see what is coming at me. Still too warm for the puppy 🦮, the weather is going to be cooler, so he can be the Schmidt star 💫 again…
Ac is getting fixed as we speak
Oh I've been there once before and early January / February I was running dedicated routes for BASF that cave is something else.
Kurt you all take Care of yourselves!!
truck looking good kurt,
I loaded kansas under ground in my let 20s , NO more for me, I loaded some kind of juice 35000 pounds worth , rock and roll it to Phoenix Arizona ,

Nice Video BEEP BEEP BEEP Take Care
That is awesome you got to go in the cave
Cave footage helped me understand why son had meltdown driving there was very new driver. Hope you didn't get the damage Millenial Farmer got.
For driving in the underground and strong winds A+. Good parents will be parents until the end. You know that just because. It's good to be prepared for Mother Nature because she's unpredictable. To you and yours and neighborhoods 🙏 🚛
I have family that lives around theater
Usedto love caverns in Maryland and lurray in Virginia. Now i get claustrophobic
Great video once again please be safe out there .
Use 2 ld out of there wkly 4 Safeway n Denver
