This track from Uematsu always did what Joe Hisaishi does with Ghibli movies - somehow manages to make you nostalgic for somewhere you've never been, in a time you never saw. You've absolutely captured that here, bloody well done.
@@HecVD I often get small accounts of anemoia for dreams ive had. very odd feeling. interestingly enough some of these dreams were partly fueled by ff7 music playing while i slept. anyways, thanks for reminding me that such a word existed. Cheers!
Agreed. Uematsu absolutely nailed it, more so than he did on probably any other FF soundtrack. Another one who makes masterful use of leitmotif is Zack Parrish, on the OST for Valdis Story: Abyssal City. That I genuinely hold this OST up there with work from Nobuo Uematsu or John Williams should speak volumes.
This was the 1st song my step brother taught me on piano when I 1st started. We both loved FF and hes a big reason I started playing piano. He was a concert pianist and teacher. He past away at 28. Still miss him.
Whether it was leaving Midgar or crossing the Corel mountains when this song first gripped you, let's all go back to who, what, and when we were in the late 90's together and do it again.
The more Final Fantasy 7 tracks you do that aren't the same basic 2-3 songs everyone covers, the happier I am. It's a 1:1 relationship of you doing FF7 deep cuts and my happiness
This has and always will be my favorite song from the game. This is one of the best renditions of the song I've seen. Thanks for putting it together mate.
Seriously. Stunning! Loved every second of this. Your talent and the obviously painstaking patience it requires to Tab these beautiful arrangements out doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated! Thank you man!
"Holding My Thoughts in My Heart", this title means something, espacially with this guitar version, thanks a lot Sam. This one was really emotional for me.
One of my favorite FF7 song ❤ this cover captured its nostalgic power and make me grasp some pictures from Cloud travelling in Corel’s railway. Mustybiz 🥰😉
You uploaded this song a few weeks ago for like one second! I saw it in my notifications but by the time I was checking them, it was gone. I've been eagerly anticipating it since then, and I'm not disappointed. I would *love* for you to do more FF7 music! I think On the Other Side of the Mountain would be another really lovely emotional piece to do.
Chills man! I am not sure how best to describe it but Sam always maintains the original score's emotion when he plays. Thanks yet again for nailing another classic.
This is the track above any other from this game that always brings those old feelings rushing back. As an 8 year old at the time who'd only seen videogames through the lens of platformers and fighting games, FFVII took my sense of imagination and adventure to places I never could've dreamed. The sense of wonder I had, leaving Midgar for the first time and crossing over the Corel Mountains. It was something truly magical.
this gave me a very intense feeling of nostalgia, oh to be able to re live those moments again. It's crazy a video game can evoke such strong feelings. ive experienced some pretty crazy things in my life(we all have) but somehow the moment you described is comparable to some of those.
Man, 1:40 - 2:11 reminds me so much of the ending to “Clowns” by Goldfrapp. You could probably play both tracks together and hear a heavenly harmony between the two. Nice going, Sam, another masterpiece! 👏🏼
Sammie, seeing you play it on the video only adds more to the soulfulness that you bring to the song. This is also a special song to me, not just because I was the requester of it--though that also makes me so happy. Thanks so much, Sam!
Such a beautiful performance of this song. Made me feel nostalgic as heck. Thank you for posting it! Hoping for a Calamari Inkantation rendition someday :D
Holding My Thoughts in My Heart use to make me cry when I was playing the original game back in 1997. I think was a good idea not to use the title of the song. Your arrangement and interpretation 10/10. thank you for this mate. added to fav
Sam my man… at it again, bringing my favorite games OST to life in a way I could never imagine. Somehow just as good, but different, better, but equally as amazing… my hats off to you sir. Thanks for offering this splendorous sound to my ear canals….

both of them are excellent at distilling emotion in melody
@@CKVideoGames Almost as if they have some kind os synesthesia idk
That's called "anemoia"
Hard agree. Lord, this game is so special to me. Sam is a stand up guy for giving this to us.
@@HecVD I often get small accounts of anemoia for dreams ive had. very odd feeling. interestingly enough some of these dreams were partly fueled by ff7 music playing while i slept. anyways, thanks for reminding me that such a word existed. Cheers!
The leitmotifs in FF7 go straight to your heart.
Agreed. Uematsu absolutely nailed it, more so than he did on probably any other FF soundtrack.

I see what you did there with that reference lol

So sorry for your loss.
@@ripztubig4457 Thank you for your kindness
My condolences. Such a beautiful way to remember him though.
Beautiful memory of him. An hug from Italy
@@EmanueleVaccari Thank you much! ❤
There’s more power in Sam’s left index finger than in any two sets of channel lock pliers. 😮
im so glad someone else realized this. Though I suppose anyone who ever tried to play his tabs understands.
Thanks for this Sam. Absolutely bringin' the feels T_T
biggest love to both
No way… SmoothMcGroove is here????? ❤❤❤
Sam dirty for not liking smooths comment 😤
This, Balamb Garden and Fisherman's Horizon, always make me tear up when I hear them again after a long while absentia

The first time I heard this song as a kid, it felt like overwhelming nostalgia. Now it's double with such a wonderful rendition :)
I was 12 when I first played 7. Still my favorite game.
"Ain't no stoppin this train we're on!"
Unless we suplex it…
One of my faves from the whole series, beautifully played - thanks Sam!
Holding My Thoughts in My Heart is my favorite track from Final Fantasy VII too!
Fabulous arrangement and performance Sam! Those voicings were absolutely beautiful.
My childhood... I feel like crying.
From the very beginning I could already tell the title was right.
Clicked on this instantly when it came up. One of my favorites. Beautiful!
Please do "Interrupted by Fireworks" or "On That Day, Five Years Ago"!
Possibly my favourite piece from FFVII. Once again, Sam, you handle it absolutely masterfully. Bravo, son!
Uematsu's music is always good, but there's something special about ff7' ost that hits me in a special way.
Between this and Littleroot Town, you've performed two of the most complicated and emotional songs in my experience playing videogames
I would loooove to hear you do Cosmo Canyon...that's the one that gives me chills every time.
So many memories playing the game and now seeing is played evwn better. Thank you for your skill and awsome playing

Thank you Sam. Your talent makes the world a better place.
I'm more impressed with that you're playing this wearing that jacket than I am your fingering. Amazing work; always love to see you pop up.
Half of FF7s greatness lies in its soundtrack. This was moving, thank you.

Absolutely beautiful Sam, This pierces the heart hard...
came here for the sound and stayed for the scarab jacket. Bonjour from France
I cried constantly during my play-through of FFVII remake. This song was one of the triggers. You play it beautifully.

Thanks for sharing, Sam. It's a beautiful composition which you've played with deftness and grace.
Even as a kid hearing this song would give me such a somber but happy vibe all at once every time I played that game. Nice work
I have goosebumps, people!
You rock Sam!
To Zanarkand is the song to cry... but.. this one too... I'm crying
Thanks, this one always gets me. Lotta folks use Aerith's theme, but this is the song that always takes me back and puts a little tear in my eye.
One of the loveliest pieces of music ever written..... I could stay on that bridge forever. 🥹
This is one of my favorites too! Super underrated. The buildup to the end is just in another world!
Chills man! I am not sure how best to describe it but Sam always maintains the original score's emotion when he plays. Thanks yet again for nailing another classic.
It always amazes me what an incredible power music has. It brought back so many beautiful childhood memories, thank you
Beautiful. Brings me back to a better time when things were simpler or felt that way. Before the world was on fire.

The use of octaves and harmonics are insanely perfect.
Such an appropriate name for this track, decades later i feel like it has a double meaning, now one of nostalgia.
Incredibly well done, really had me tearing up,

you found the chamber in my heart that holds this song and threw open the curtains, opened the windows and chased the dust away.
Thank you!
Heidi asked, "can you hear the wind?" as the song picked up. It was magical and perfect.
This is giving me childhood memories and i havent even played ff7 or any of the final fantasy games
So glad you did this it’s always been one of my favs.
Absolutely beautiful! I got goosebumps dude... I'm gonna try to learn this one!
What a beauty to watch and hear.
Once more your take on these song are particurlaly touching!
Legitimately my fav track from the game. Played flawlessly. Thank you Sam.
Too much nostalgia for one song😢
Oh yeah when you are walking on the Mt. Corel tracks with that beautiful sky. I remember... 🥺
Amazing version of this. Keep up the great playing 🎉
The raw power of music… and the nostalgia that it can evoke. In full force with this performance!!
One of my faves, love that moment when the ffvii world opens up to something bigger than Midgar
That just warmed my heart bro. Thank you.
Guitar is S tier. Everything else is F tier.
Awesome cover! 👏
Beautiful
At the same time I started playing FF7 remake!! pure synchrony. I really liked ! congratulations

The last chord is your gangster sign 😂🤟
Goosebumps. Taken back to my childhood. Bravo.
I'm actually doing another playthrough of this game, right now. My all-time favorite. This cover is perfect! Thank you!
That truly is a beautiful piece of music. I have no relationship with FF7, yet I return to listen again and again.
Glad you finally reposted this!
Another fantastic performance, you're killing it Sam!
Such a beautiful performance of this song. Made me feel nostalgic as heck. Thank you for posting it!

Sam, are you ok? Everything will be alright. Send you a big hug.
One of the hardest compositions to play on guitar. Great work.
Nostalgia chills to the bone

Guess I gotta play this game yet again now…
Hits ya right in the feels.

Perfect, Sam! Appreciated

I absolutely love this and everything you and your brother do.
Tremendous! Just magical and really beautifully performed.
Damn, this song really must be somber for you because you didn't try to make us feel creeped out or uncomfortable at the end.
