When I was younger about 50 years ago (75+ now), I went to Nelson's Hardware, bought a few nails, shaped them as I needed them each, bent some, filed them all until very sharp, made a charcoal fire, hardened them (2 1/2 inches long), then started to carve a cube that was 1 cube inch all around!!! I put three tiny bars on the four sides, started to carve very carefully and steadily a tiny ball inside of those tiny bars, and hd left a tiny sliver under the ball, then cut thin strips of various sand papers, about 1/8 of an inch, start to sand ball into shape, while watching two sides of bars at all times, extremely carefully!!!, When done with that tiny ball, I carefully cut the sliver of wood that was holding the ball, then sanded those super-tiny bars, all of them, then varnished it twice. When it was finally dried, I put a chain through the top where I put a very small notch then made a hole in it for that necklace's chain! Before I showed it to people in Whitehorse, you should have seen and heard them, even tho' I told everyone that I carved it as one piece of wood and never used any glue! Such expletives as they all turned it over and over, some swearing they'll find the glued parts, even tho' they heard me say 'there was never any glue or anything used from start to finish !!! By the way, last day of Sourdough Rendezvous on February 28th, 1973, I finish carving THE VERY FIRST TOTEM POLE EVER SINCE TIME BEGAN IN YUKON TERRITORY, STILL STANDS AT ROTARY PEACE PARK IN WHITEHORSE, YUKONB!!! Hope all enjoyed part of my history, Perfect Peace to all!!! Stan.
Wish i knew you personally ive been whittling/carving for ab 25+ yrs (mostly canes. (Which i usually give them away when i see someone in need) MOST of them i give to alot of veterans with a huge THANK YOU. For your service.,clubs, bamboo crossbows wooden knives and alot of "ninja weapons" per says my 5yr old boy) however the one thing i JUST NOW (like a month ago) started doing was actually DRAW the picture on the wood ( i know sounds stupid but i never did that before watching YOUR vids and taking YOUR advice) so for what its worth Sir. THANK YOU........ Reasoni would like to know you outside of the computer is honestly to pick your brain and get some HONEST opinion and feedback from you but reason main reason..... Is well maybe some dang DRAWING LESSONS...... My hand writing looks like im tryn to conjur up spells for the dang devil so my "drawing" ( if i could call it that) well you could imagine....lol
Good morning Jordy! Speaking of little boards, my wife bought me a Jenga game, for me to carve little gnomes. I’ve finally started on and now mostly done w my Santa orders from last year.. I can’t wait to share them with you, Wizard King! 🧙🏽♂️ 😉
heyyyy now i know why the pete mandrels are pointy on the end as well as the screw . that's cool , I was wondering why they were like that, now I know ...I do love them by the way.
Happy Hogmanay Jordy.warmed up my wee cabin and out here clearing up, found the first 'woodspirit' from last year,😉🥴you're right, keep your old work👍,let's you know if it's worth carrying on carving,or maybe some other callings etc. I'm carring on carving, thanks Jordy, you're an inspiration 🎓🗣🎓😁😁
It turn out pretty! I have a question. What dremel bit can I use if I want to cut thicker wood pieces but still for small projects like yours ? For example, making hearts, square and other shapes.
The tree Moon piece that you just finished would be a good idea for the paddle on a wind chime what do you think 🤔 I enjoy your videos keep up the good work...... Thank you
I’ve never done wood carving before, but I’d like to get started cutting shapes and words out of 1/4” birch plywood. Can I do that with the tools you used to cut this ornament? Some of it will be pretty tiny and intricate. What would be a good starter pack to get going? I have a dremel 400XPR and the flex shaft. P.S. It’s great to see a Canadian that I can buy from.
I love the way you know what you are doing but are occasionally fumbling and saying jesus jordy LOL Sounds like me in my studio haha Had some bad stuff happen and just getting back in the swing of things and this brings me happiness. LOL
Have u eaten all that chocolate chip cookie.? Loved it, I'm gonna try to burn the house, I mean sho susie woo it. Gonna take a few doors off and burn em.😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏😚🇮🇪💚
