It's good feeling genuinely excited for a Sonic game again, without any strings attached like with Frontiers. Shame the game's almost guaranteed to be 30fps on Switch, since not even the menus of Sonic Origins are 60fps on the platform in Hedgehog Engine 2
This game SHOULD be able to run at 60fps on Switch, given that there are other 2.5D platformers like this on Switch that do. The question is whether they put in the work to make that happen here or not.
Hey! Editor here. This looks like an editing mistake on my part. FOV was definitely wider originally. Sorry for the confusion! I was editing this at 2 AM last night lol.
Sonic was always a free spirit and force of nature against the robots of the evil human doctor. He wasn't a human hero he saved ANIMALS and his friends.
What matters is if the game actually allows the player to experiment with it or not. Many sonic games were simply not thought out with such nuance, thus making their 2D gameplay railroaded and monotonous. This game seems to be aware of how deep the "mechanic" of momentum is. There already seem to be many fun shortcuts that can be taken if you know what youre doing, and risky challenges that require skill to be rewarded with speed
Momentum physics is always hard to get right for fun gameplay, either it's too much or too little, best they can do now to play it safe is adapt what ain't broken which was the Genesis Sonic style of momentum which Mania also took over. Another important factor next to the momentum is if the level design smartly utilizes it and is... well-designed for lack of a better word. For example the Sonic Advance games have the momentum physics exactly as Genesis Sonic but some of it's level design can sometimes be so obnoxious or limiting that it still turns out not that fun or good.
I’m happy for a new game but I won’t lie, I wish it was pixelated. I’m getting Sonic 4 PTSD, along with the music. It does seem to be running on the mania engine and that’s all I want. New 2D no reuses levels, I can play with my kid and wife. I hope it’s not 2D from the 3D games, but a new game on the Taxman engine
How does Amy work? Is her special ability just a simple double jump? And how does she do that running hammer move? Thanks for the impressions, I'm hoping more people will post their opinions too.
At first I was a bit worried that this would play like Classic Sonic in Forces, but given what people have said about the demo so far, I am absolutely hyped for this game, especially since it's got co-op.
I hope they do make sure every character is optimized. Knuckles in mania had to get his own level layout because of his gameplay mechanics, and tails was able to fly over big chunks of levels
So good to be a Sonic fan rn
Yeah. If only they ported sonic unleashed, generations, and lost world to modern platforms, it would be even better
I won’t feel that good until Sega shows that they could respect developers including other companies that they get to make Sonic games.
The new game is very hype but, Sega might screw the developers over and that’s not okay.
@@citrusreality64gens and lost world are on steam
@@CatWarior22 they arent on current consoles though
The aesthetic of this game gives me nostalgia of Sonic Rivals.
Thanks
Finally someone that has actually played the game himself
This is exciting can't wait for the game
Thanks for uploading
Hope it was helpful!

@@legoboy7107 Agreed. At least the new Prince of Persia will be 60fps on Switch
For origins, mania and superstars this is not thé Hedgehog engine 2 but the RetroEngine
@@Haaglito That hasn't been confirmed, nor is it likely. Retro Engine has only been used for sprite based games so far
Honestly im excited for this game but i want the drop dash 😅 im hoping the game has a good drop dash
It does
I’m pretty sure it’s got the drop dash
It does have it, it showed it in one of the gameplay
The camera fov looks pretty close unfortunately, might be hard to tell whats coming ahead
Maybe there an option to change it who knows
that's just for the trailer
Nah its not normally, for some reason he's zoomed it in for the vid
I hope so , that's what I've been nervous about too

Question are the levels similar in size compared to s3&k?
Ergh. I hope the music isn't like sonic4. PLEASE get Tee Lopes on it Sonic Team
Don't worry, the music in this video is placeholder. It's actually taken straight from Sonic 4 Episode 2 OST. No idea if Tee is on it though.
@chuckolator1859 thank god, thanks for saying 👌
That game looks so fun! I should get it.
I find it a little funny you struggled to say badniks but knew who fang was
Badniks aren’t new
Sonic was always a free spirit and force of nature against the robots of the evil human doctor.
He wasn't a human hero he saved ANIMALS and his friends.
Having multiple branching pathways in 2D Sonic isn’t new or surprising at all. It’s one thing the series has always been known for.
😅 Is that sonic 4 music?
Momentum was always there but at times there was more of it , other times there was less of it

I got news for you, Sonic Team isn't even making THIS ONE..
Studio Arzest Is working on it, lead by Naoto Ohshima, sonic's original designer.
Are you fecking telling me.. you don't know what a BADNICK IS?!! O.o
3:02 from sonic 1
E estado esperando un juego de sonic asi desde el sonic generations.

okay, since you’ve actually played it, is there ACTUALLY that much automation?
The moment on is back YAAAAAYAYYAYAHWJSLDLAMSJDJSJ❤❤❤❤

The hammer attack is activated like the Drop Dash, you hold the jump button and she will perform it when she lands
It's like a mix of Sonic Generations and a little bit of Sonic Adventure. This is great!!!
No it isn’t
@@Therealones745 Please note that this is only my opinion. I just get those vibes when watching the gameplay.
Just needs to be zoomed out a bit, the camera is too close makes it harder to see what coming
This is the pac man world re pac of the sonic franchise
I fucking hate the first stage song, it reminds me way too much to sonic 4
ate some hormigas and honey,, didnt like it..
Finally im so excited for this game
I wonder if they'll add Mighty and Ray like they did with Mania at some point
At first I was a bit worried that this would play like Classic Sonic in Forces, but given what people have said about the demo so far, I am absolutely hyped for this game, especially since it's got co-op.
I want to get it on switch because I have 4 controllers but if the graphics are noticeably better on x box I’ll get it on x box
Whats wrong with a more involved Sonic story?
1:06 I’m pretty sure it’s because the acts are longer especially if they are gonna charge $60
i think it's about time that we can use the power of each chaos emeralds other then becoming super sonic
This new game is fine be gass
6 years since mania??????? Wtf
Yeah
Is this your footage or is it taken from the IGN Japan footage?
Ign
This is a mix of footage we were sent directly from SEGA, plus trailer footage. They weren’t allowing capture during our demo.
I hope they do make sure every character is optimized. Knuckles in mania had to get his own level layout because of his gameplay mechanics, and tails was able to fly over big chunks of levels
Okay but what's the catch though?
There's always a catch with Sonic games, even the best ones.
I'd wager it's gonna be a very short game with maybe only 5-6 zones or so. Let's hope not though. Edit: apparently I'm wrong!

@@shaunj66 theres 8 zones
@@pinktrutle1490there’s probably at least 4 more

is the drop dash in the game?
Yes
Yes it is!
Let’s go!
it looks too zoomed in
