Thanks for the vid, I own a 2009 dodge ram slt. Was previously a smokers truck. It kinda stinks sometimes. I looked for the cabin air filter door & thought I was looking at the wrong spot. Anyhow, found this vid & it explains it all. Thanks again.
If your truck is like my 2011, my evaporator was dirty. Solution: (Literally!) is "HVAC Guys HD Power A/C coil cleaner" brand, local appliance parts stores or Amazoom sells it by the quart (and other brands) and you DILUTE it with water 4:1 to 10:1 and a cheap plastic spray bottle helps and 10:1 actually cleans dirt better than stronger. The mixture is EXTREMELY alkaline, so HD vinyl/rubber gloves, clothes protection (cheap plastic poncho) respirator, and FACE MASK are REQUIRED and cover your carpet and upholstery with cheap plastic paint sheets. If your eyes sting, RINSE IMMEDIATELY with LOTS of cool clean water for 10+ minutes!!! If it is STILL painful, go to an ER!!! OK, safety ad done. Feel inside the box for the metal "fins" and spray them well, but don't FLOOD with liquid, as it must be rinsed out TOTALLY and the A/C box drains out the bottom of the truck. Often there's enough junk inside to prevent the drain from draining well. The "trick" is a tiny stream of water for a VERY short time, MANY times. Putting in the door and CLEANING the evaporator (in place) is an afternoon (3-6 hour) job, but your A/C won't blow hot stinky air in your face when it's first turned on, you won't breath as much pollen, dust, ect., and your interior will stay MUCH cleaner after cleaning and installing the filter. I needed to crawl under the truck and find the drain tube and poke a straightened coat hanger into the tube and get nasty greenish-black glop chunks out so it drained properly. On a home HVAC system, they drop "fizzy tablets" in the Evaporator drain pan to clean-out the pipe that drips. We can't do that without removing the fan motor which is UNDER the coil. The process is slow and time consuming so a mechanic has to charge $150-300 (or more). Relax, it didn't get dirty in an afternoon, so cleaning isn't gonna be fast. If found on Fee-Pay and Amazoom $15 "kits" with a door and VERY cheap quality filter. I don't think the filter will last 10,000 miles/one year but it might. You'll still have the "door" cheap! LUCK guys and gals!
When you cut out the panel was there a filter already in there?? I cut mine off and there wasn't an existing filter, just an empty cavity with the fan motor.
Placing the air filter in there will restrict the air flow due to the air running through the filter. It does filter the air coming into the truck so the air will actually be cleaner in the cab.

Interesting that they wouldn’t already have this installed from the factory. Anything to save a few dollars. Good video.
I always wondered why the air coming into my truck didn't smell very good. Might have to do this myself.
It made a big difference in the dust level in my truck.

There was no filter inside mine. Not sure why they designed the truck without one.
i just did the same no air filter what the hell how stupid is this
wonder why they felt it unnecessary to have a cabin filter on that model after all it wasn't new on the market
I have no idea. I would guess to save a few bucks on each truck. Most people don’t even know there isn’t a cabin filter on this year truck.
No link to purchase?
Good stuff man

Your most watched video :)
Does this restrict air flow or improve it?

Thanks for sharing this video.
What was the part number for that cover and how much did it cost?
3rd video I've seen that has been blocked after only a few seconds, obviously u-tube and Dodge have collaborated to block these videos now.
not true .... only in your head..... now on politics..... that a different storey.
Thanks Chief 👍...
