Thanks. I have a 2016 Ram Ecodiesel. I ran into the no door problem. As you stated, it is no 2 minutes in and out. Thank you for providing the real information.
THank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one said anything about your 1st step!! i have been trying to figure this out for 3 hrs, and now it makes sense!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I thought I was going crazy!!!!!! Yes Enginers suck!
So to confirm...there is no air filter in there, but I must cut the piece out. I just ordered the cabin air filter door from Amazon and I already have a new replacement cabin air filter. Should be all set tomorrow or next to get the job done. Thanks for sharing this video. Appreciate it.
Cut mine out with a utility knife same as in the video. It was not difficult at all, slow careful scoring across the top and bottom from each end to about midway. Cut completely through on each side and top then push in and snap the piece off the bottom. Took a few swipes to get completely through but overall a fairly simple job. Also cut two notches to correlate with the tabs that protrude on the lower part of the cover.
So my 2016..same thing! No cap, have to cut! What was the name of that CAF cap? And from where? You saved me!! I looked at a million videos say WTF!! Thanks again! Cheers!!
This is the first time I've gotten into this. Pulled the glove box on my 2016 2500 as instructed, and found block off was cut out and the door was installed. But (everyone has a big But) there was no filter. As this is a Tradesman, the lowest trim level Ram, I'm thinking that's the way it came from the factory.
I have a 2012 Bighorn...been looking at several videos. All of them said there were tabs to remove the face plate...I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY !! SAW THIS VIDEO AND GAVE UP. I JUST BOUGHT MORE LITTLE TREE AIR FRESHENERS. . PROBLEM SOLVED
@@joeburton1232 it’s so silly that Ram made it like this! It’s not too difficult, order the filter/door kit and after your trees wear out knock it out.

@@user-jaketheweasle did you end up installing the door?
I heated my box cutter blade up with a heat gun, helped a lot
@@erikroehrdanz8840 that’s a great way to get it done!
Thank you for this. I thought I was going crazy
You still might be? It feels like I am most of the time.

@@tstokes174 I don’t know what model comes with a filter. Hope it goes well for you.

I must have had a dull blade, it wasn’t great but got it done. Seems odd that this isn’t factory.

Still confused as to why they were so cheap to not include the cabin filter on all the models! Glad it helped you.
Doing mine tomorrow, Milwaukee multi tool is coming out lol
That should work well.
@TomsTinkeringandAdventures worked great. That plus a heater core flush and cleaned out the blower motor. Now I have heat and air speed.
Wow that did look like a pain in the a@@,, I've never seen anything like that BUT you made it work Tom..
Thanks, it’s not a terrible deal but it makes me wonder why Ram didn’t already have the filter installed??
@Tom's Tinkering and Adventures I understand you just never know.. yes you would of thought it would of had one..
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures all about saving 1 dollar by not cutting the stamp out and providing the door.
@@jonbennett118 exactly. I’m just wondering if some higher end models have the filter from the factory?

Interesting. Mine is a 2014 Outdoorsman, maybe a low mid level trim? Wonder what ones have the door or filter?
My 2016 tradesman has a door, super easy no cutting, but also had no filter, slipped in a filter, no issue.
@@thejousters1705 That's great. Maybe after a certain year they did the door but no filter? Anything to save a few dollars out of the factory.
Great video
Thank you.
Awesome, thank u!
Thanks for watching!
Do you have a part number for the door piece? My husband thinks I'm crazy for telling him to cut this piece out, despite sending him your video - lol!
Just search for Ram cabin filter door on Amazon.
Thank you!!!
Glad to help.
I am in mid cutting on the panel.. Its not going well I am wondering about a dremel.
Dremel might be good if you can get in there. I actually ended up with bits of plastic in the blower motor, fortunately it’s easy to remove.
Maybe try drilling the corners out first
@@jakegiubbini that’s a good idea. I was hoping it would cut easier! 😂
@@jakegiubbini I got it just a little bit at a time with the exact-o knife.
Thanks
Welcome.
My truck don’t have that on it
@@DL-oc1cu no cabin filter? Install one!
attached that blade to a soldering iron, way easier.
Cut it with heat, pretty good idea!
2012Laramie... solid plastic... gotta cut to add a filter 🤦♂️
Ram is just cheap about this!
This sucks
I got 33$ filter from autozone
Now i got to return it lol
@@zaidchalabi1599 well either that or order the cover and start cutting. 😂
Wow, thank you because 2016 Ram 1500 and we are pissed with this stupid design like WTF 😡😡😡
