I worked for a company in the sixties who manufactured Pyrene foam drums amongst other things. The Government specification was very rigid, and included the seam welding of the sides and bottoms of 16 guage high quality rolled steel sheets. This was performed by a slight elderley lady who had been doing this job for over 40 years which was no mean feat. The welded drum weighed over 12 lbs, and she managed to produce ten of these per hour! There was no other younger welders who could achieve this. Violet was a lovely lady who was a widow, and lived alone in Millwall (a very tough part of London). As a trainee I was in awe of her and she always gave me a sweet each day!
Richard; from The Inglenook Classic organising team, thank you so much for attending our event and producing such a fantastic video which really captured the ethos and atmosphere that we strive for. 🙏 Our 2025 Season will have a change of criteria in that all exhibiting vehicles will need to be a minimum of 20 years old (up to and including 2005). This has been an operational decision to protect the future of the event as well as responding to feedback to host a “true” classic car meet in the area; we hope we can achieve this.👍 Thanks again and hope to see you next year! 😎
Absolutely fantastic video of some really beautiful car's. The Humber Hawk is a winner in my book having owned a Super Snipe, which i had a Rover 3.5 installed. I had D LLF 767 for 23 beautiful years before she was stolen. It was a lovely car to drive, not many around, & the sweet sound of the V8 was magical. The Hawk look's fantastic & is great condition. Great video, keep up the good work 👍
@oldclassiccarUK it's only when you hear a motorbike coming from behind then you see an Austin A35, originally it had no reverse gear either, it goes pretty well too.
Hi Richard. I love my part of the world and had a walk in Dawlish this morning . Looking out to sea the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth was doing extensive sea trials ... but we simply don't get these type of shows . Thanks Richard
Richard thanks for yet another wonderful video. The Austin A30s brings back yet another memory. A school friend of mine had a slightly tuned four door one inwhich we went to his previous school reunion in Tynemouth. On the way back after much drinking I fell victim to a. malfunctioning rear door lick and fell out the door straight into a trench in some road works. My friend carried on taking to me for some minutes until he realised that he was alone. He then reversed back and hauled me out of the trench and we carried on home. I bet the grey example is a real sleeper with that Honda superbike engine.
Another great video, nice to see a Ford sierra 2.0i S,my dad bought a two year old one in 1988 and had it for many years , I was lucky that he insured me on it and me being 18 years old,it was like a rocket ship compared to my 1.6 capri.
Always interesting to hear other peoples views on the cars. Fantastic turn out for the season finale. Most will be tucked up for the winter now, cosseted under a blanket. Still hopeful to get out in my Ghia if the roads are dry. Thanks for the great video! ATB👍
Thanks Rick, you are a font of knowledge. I was very interested in what you had say about the early production A30 v the later ones. You are never to old to stop learning.
Another great video Rick, good to see a Ventora, we have WPA506G owned by my brother in law in the 70s me in the 90s and now my son, in completely original condition and still looking fantastic. Doesn't seem to be hardly any around now. ☹️
There are quite a few old stockcar photos on the main OCC site, in the image archive section, including a few based on FIAT bodyshells: www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/stock-cars.htm
@@peterward3965i actually think it's befitting with the character of the car, adds that subtle bit of menace to it, it's not like it's your standard run of the mill Humber Hawk this one
The humber hawk should be seen as a hot rod car. At the time, they were lawyers, bank managers, doctors cars, and would have been very unlikely to have been seen with all these modifications. Well done , but certainly not a classic!

Hi Craig, thanks so much for your kind words, yes I'll definitely try and get over next year, it was a fun morning out
@@oldclassiccarUK; I’ve emailed you. 😎👍
Thanks for the mention of my VW Thing. ;-)

Thanks, yes I like these old Humbers too, a good car for cruising around in
You really captured the ethos of the event I started at the end of the lockdowns and now run by a great team.
Cheers, it's a great gathering, thanks for watching
An interesting event RJ and that Hawk definitely suits the Rover V8.
Thanks, yes I've seen a few Humbers of this era with V8s shoe-horned under the bonnet, not always as smart as this one mind
Fab video once again, the grey Austin a35, has the engine from a Honda Blackbird motorcycle
Ahh is that what it is! Thanks, I'd never have guessed :)

The humber hawk is such a nice car with the v8 manual mod .i think the wheels suite it in a 55 chevy sort of way.
It was very smart indeed, looking down the side it appeared to have excellent bodywork (not always the case!!)

Love that Fiat Toplino ! Like your Renault . Both rare cars and very practical .❤❤❤
great car meet and well done as always, liked the Vauxhall cheers
I like the look of the MGB without bumper over riders.

Thanks, I think one or two Ventoras pop up briefly in tomorrow's video (NEC)
Hi Richard. I loved the old stockcar. Here in NZ the Fiat Topolino body shell was used for the cars in the 1960s/ early 70s.

Like that series 1 XJ . I would love to have one. I could tow my project car to shows with it .
When did the TVR Chimaera start having the Red Rose set up as an option? 1996, 1997, 1998, etc.?
Great Video
Thanks for the visit
Thank you , I am the owner of the v8 humber hawk and loved that it was in your video
6:34 Volvo Amazon. First car I worked on as a restoration project.

My pick is the v8 Humber . . . should survive Australia without cooking
Fantastic Humber Hawk, with dreadful wheels.
It was in wonderful condition though :-)
I've still got the original wheels and hubcaps that you could refit when you buy the car 😂
@@cliffpartington406 That's good to know so fit them back on, because those wheels is a chav look. Cheers 🍻

Yes it's modified, but it's also another one saved (and put back into excellent condition). Thanks for watching!
