It's a shame when there are too many moderns, I always look from the perspective of someone paying to attend, should members of the public pay to see car(s) they could easily see in Tesco carpark etc. It's often the one-make car clubs that are the worst offenders.
Thanks Rick. Very well done as usual, you can give up your day job now. Pity about the rain (and those noisy BMW tossers). The McLaughlan Buick is Canadian. A friend of mine had one identical, 1937 with twin side mount spares, but in black.
Ha yes it has been very damp, although personally we've been quite lucky show wise, often with nice show days being bookmarked by very rainy days, so I can't complain too much
Another fabulous presentation, thank you for enduring the weather and please take care while sheltering under a tree in such conditions, it might only strike once but that’s all it takes 😂👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻
Seeing the gorgeous Armstrong Siddley Star Saphire brought back yet another memory of my childhood. Before we had our own garage my Dad used to rent one up the back lane of our terrace. When going to see a car he would always take a tape measure as the garage wasn't very long which meant that its length would have to be measured to see if it would fit. So off we went to see a Star Saphire at Consett in County Durham which in those days was known for its vast iron and steel works. The car was parked outside the seller's house so before negotiating a purchase the tape measre came out! I was in love with this maron and cream beauty and hoped it passed the length test - which is sadly didn't. So just as we were about to get into his clapped out and rusty Rover P4 90 it started to rain. I looked on my hand in horror realised it was raining blood! My Dad who sold tool steel to the ironworks told me it was down to all the iron oxide in the local atmosphere that the rain was red and off we went back home to Newcastle. The old tape measure made another appearance the following week though. This time it was a stunning Mercedes Benz "Addenaur" Coupe. My parents lived in Birmingham in the war and my Mother said that she would never sit in a German car seeing that they had bombed their area each night for five days. The tape measure stayed in my Dad's pocket and we went away carless again.
Well done for persistence in the precipitation! Some lovely vehicles amongst all of the modern cars. I loved the Bedford OB, the Austin K9 and I really liked the yellow Silver Shadow. Like you i could do without the popping and banging noise, we called it misfiring back in the day! 😅
Well done persevering in the rain; the soundtrack of rain pattering on the brolly made a change, but no Gene Kelly routine?! My favourites: that super Buick saloon, the yellow and pale blue GT6s, the lovely MG YB saloon, the stately two-tone green Rover 100 P4 and that very purposeful works red and white Healey.
Hi Richard. I once lived in Lower Hutt near the city of Wellington in the North Island of New Zealand. There was a horse racecourse near where i lived in the area of Trentham. Trentham racecourse. So many wonderful cars there in immaculate condition. Now you need to get your Austin A 40 at home sitting in your garage in the same condition as the one there at the show Richard. I remember seeing the Vauxhall Chevette alot on the road back in the 1970s. Today in 2024 there isn't any around now. Where did they all go. I thought that Ford Fiesta is nice . Thanks for your video. From Carl.
Ooooooo I'm not sure I could begin to pick a standout vehicle, given how many places we've been to. One that sticks in my memory is that lovely old Leyland Lioness I saw recently at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum. But in addition there were many fine cars at the Bicester events, or VSCC hillclimbs, that I'd also love to have in my garage, so really I couldn't give a definitive answer to that one!!!! Thanks for watching.
My car to go home in from the show is the Saab 99 turbo I had one in around 92 when i was 22 years old Everyone else i knew had the typical 'cool cars' of the time Xr3, nova , fiesta and so on and then there i was in a 99 turbo😁 I drove it for two years and loved it Anyone who knew me and had driven it got to find out what a great car it was No rust, comfortable, steered well and was quick enough (especially with the boost adjusted) While the others thought that it wasn't cool enough for them with their rusty wheel arches and wet carpets , wheezy CVH engines Fools Thinking mans car
Heh I had three of em A 99 EMS ,99 Combi Coupe and then a turbo There's definitely sellers regret with the turbo At the time I was working at a garage and was on their motor traders insurance so I could drive the turbo at 22-23 But when other job opportunities came along I was not on the next year's renewal so the turbo had to go,it was insurance group 18 and my minis were group 1 the difference was massive The only weakness on those Saab's was the handbrake It wasn't a bad idea in principle but the mechanism wore out rather quickly I'm still friends with that workshop and the unofficial Saab workshop next door so I still get to see the odd Saab
@@ianparking Yes the handbrake on my '85 900t wasn't great either. The ignition lock was also worn so it wasn't necessary to put it in reverse to get the key out. One day I forgot to put it in gear, the handbrake released while parked and it rolled down the car park into the back of a new Porsche 968CS. That one took a bit of explaining to the insurance co. :-)
If it was going roll into anything why not a Porsche Because of the unofficial Saab workshop next door I knew of a work around to make the hand brake work properly without having to buy a new calipers from Saab
Ah, That red Sunbeam Talbot - sporty and stately... Our summer holidays back in the sixties we went 5-up (Being the youngest I always copped the transmission tunnel!) In Dottie's beautiful ol' silver Sunbeam Talbot, went from near Orpington Kent, down to the south coast. Wonderful innocent days that will never be seen again due to this mad greed-economy we have now, with zero morals.
I've only seen the first few minutes, and already I've seen a car that perplexed you a bit.I couldn't wait to comment.I'm a little bit surprised Harley isn't with you.(Please give him my regards.I have a very high opinion of you all.As for the mystery Chrysler, it's a 1970/71 Australian Chrysler Valiant V G V I P.It would have a 5.2 litre(318 cubic inch)V 8.It would also have power steering, and factory air-conditioning.The models without quarter lights, all have factory air-conditioning.The model before, the V F,also had air-conditioning as an option, but retained the quarter lights.Who knows what else is in this latest vid.More comments will undoubtedly follow.A number of Australian Chrysler's were exported to the U K , from Australia, through the late 60's, until the middle 70's.
and the VG VIP was the top of the line and has a smaller back window which was achieved by putting a plug in the regular cavity and covering it with a vinyl roof to to disguise it.
You will probably have trouble believing this but hear goes. In the 80,s I sold 5 cars to Alan G Smith a tool company in Gravesend ,2 Cavaliers and 3 Chevettes I managed to find all the cars except 1 of the Chevettes When a a ordered car turned up from Vauxhall weeks later Ken who worked at the till in our small shop said your Chevettes turned up but it looks like Cyclops. it had half the car in the old spec with a recessed headlight and the other side was new speck with a flush fitting light and while we were fitting it up properly it fell off the ramp. You couldn't make it up! and that is not the end of the story.
Hello Richard. Like you l get irritated when people bring modern rubbish ! I think the Lassal is a less well equipped Cadilac , as in Consul and Zodiac. Thanks
NO MORE Miata's please.... Last show you cheated us on the LAND ROVER's almost ignoring them, missing the Fire Service one which was a "Stage-1" which was a 109" V8... rare car, instead you make fuss over a bloody toyota 4wd... Come on man
Can't please everyone I guess, Land Rovers regularly feature in these vids (see the recent Brightwells auction video for example) but it's not feasible to feature every car that someone really likes, much as I try.

Glad you liked my s type jaguar.its been in my family since 1987.was my dads but been mine since he passed in 2005.its one of the family.
I agree with you. I don't know why so many of those cars were on display at a classic car show.
It's a shame when there are too many moderns, I always look from the perspective of someone paying to attend, should members of the public pay to see car(s) they could easily see in Tesco carpark etc. It's often the one-make car clubs that are the worst offenders.

Well done under the conditions cheers
Hi...just wanted to say thanks for showing my Jaguar X350 XJ. The light good one following the mini van. Nice to see it on film.
Another great video and awesome cars..... Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Your video summed up this years car show season . Nearly everyone I attended saw rain and very little sunshine. Hope 2025 is better
Ha yes it has been very damp, although personally we've been quite lucky show wise, often with nice show days being bookmarked by very rainy days, so I can't complain too much

Aye any sign of lightning and I'd be elsewhere sharpish :-) thanks for watching
You sure were dedicated to stay through the rain!
JIM 🥰
A real shame about the weather but despite that some fantastic cars turned up. Thanks for getting soaked on our behalf.

Thanks for sharing the stories!
Hurray a very good video, NOT one mention of the registration, BUT some good information on nearly every vehicle, REALLY interesting
Glad you liked it

Yes it was a little damp, but never mind!
Nice one RJ
Cheers, it was an interesting albeit somewhat damp day out :)

Yes there was plenty of pattering rain! It rarely seems to have left ever since
Favourite? Gotta be one of the SAABs!
Actually I like that red Chevette hatch, IMO much nicer, sportier front end styling than the Stateside version we had.

Hi, I'd very much like to have the A40 back on the road too, one day
Nice to see a mk II sprite
Thanks Rick for another great video, do you have a standout car, commercial or coach from the 2024 show season and why?

Splendid story, perhaps built by Johnny Cash? one piece at a time etc etc

Yes the very modern stuff shouldn't be there imo, not if people pay to visit
