  • September 24, 2023 - Little Rock, Arkansas:
    The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. when a pursuing officer initiated a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) -- also known as a precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver -- on the fleeing suspect.
    The term "tactical vehicle intervention" refers to a practice in which a trooper rams the rear wheel of a suspect vehicle in an attempt to spin it out of control and end the chase, Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Cindy Murphy said previously.
    Sunday's chase began when the suspect, driving a 2006 BMW with "fictitious tags," was speeding westbound on Interstate 30 and failed to pull over for a state trooper.
    According to the release, the suspect exited the interstate at Geyer Springs Road and drove through two red lights before returning to I-30 going eastbound. The BMW accelerated, exceeding 120 mph and nearly collided with another vehicle.
    The trooper conducted the TVI maneuver near the Stanton Road overpass.
    The suspect died of injuries suffered in the resulting incident.
    According to the release, an FN Five-seven semi-automatic pistol was found in the car.
    The state police said the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory identified the suspect as Byron Brown, 32.

      @wascash everyone knows how the Arkansas state troopers handle running from them. The higher you speed away, the closer you get to death. In 100% of cases the person broke the law, simply by running. 99% of them ran bc they broke the law earlier. Let's not act like these people are innocent people being hunted down. To not get killed, you have multiple ways out. 1) don't break the law 2) if you break the law, comply when the law stops you. Fight it in court if you think you didn't break a law 3) don't run from the police. 4) if you do run, don't speed at insane speeds. This guy had multiple opportunities to Avoid his fate. His life was in his own hands. All he had to do was one of the four options above and he would still be alive. It's not like they are hard options to follow. 95 percent of us probably follow them every day. Telling the troopers to not PIT vehicles when they reach certain speeds is basically telling the bad guys to reach that speed to end the chase. Then you end up with california style chases that last for hours and actually probably have more damage to innocent people.

    You would think that a person with two previous felony convictions for fleeing, along with felony convictions for drugs and assault, may have learned something. The last time he was caught (in 2020), ASP had to PIT his vehicle twice and then he fled on foot. All he got for his previous convictions were fines, probation, probation revocation and then more probation. Maybe that's the problem, he probably viewed the continuance of these actions as not really having any consequences. So thar' ya go!

  • @SirFloofy001

    There seems to be a lot of confusion about agonal breathing. Agonal breathing is triggered by a deeply embedded instinct to gasp when your brain is dying from lack of oxygen. Its not always caused by death (its directly caused by lack of oxygen, not even Co2 buildup which is what causes your normal voluntary urge to breath. There is no automatic breathing process, sure you might not be actively thinking about breathing all the time but unlike your heart there is no automatic time keeper making sure you breath at least x amount of times per minute. Its why brain dead people need ventilators but not a pacemaker usually) But no matter the circumstances its never a good sign. In this case of traumatic injury the only thing that had any hope of saving him was if he was ejected onto a prepped surgical table.
    The officers even went through the trouble of putting him in the recovery position just in case. They are not trained medical professionals, they know how to temporarily fix wounds sure but i dont think any amount of gauze or tourniquets are going to help this guy. Honestly im surprised theres enough of him left TO gasp. Ive seen a biker go down and hit a guard rail post at 50, i dont want to see what it looks like at 120.

    • @Ryarios
      @Ryarios Месяц назад +28

      I think it’s where the brain isn’t getting enough O2 to function properly, so the brain stem takes over. It’s kind of like an emergency back up control system. It uses a different, more primitive method to determine when to take a breath than the normal breathing function does. (IIRC, it works on CO2 blood saturation as opposed to the normal method.)
      At least that’s how the doctor explained it when my father passed. I will say that for everyone around it’s an absolutely horrific experience for everyone.
      It is survivable depending on the cause and speed of treatment. I’m this guy’s case, I’m assuming it was caused when his brain was destroyed on impact with the ground or barricade, but his brain stem was still intact.

    • @TheMusicalMedic
      @TheMusicalMedic 23 дня назад +4

      @@Ryarios yes but also no. What you've described in parentheses is the normal respiratory drive, where peripheral chemoreceptors detect CO2 in the arteries, send signals to the central nervous system, and it triggers respiratory rate based off that. That is the case for every person with a normal and healthy respiratory drive. The hypoxic drive, present in COPD patients, would be the swap from detecting CO2 to PaO2.
      The part of the central nervous system that controls the passive respiratory drive is always the medulla oblongota, but the motor complex can also control it when you actively take over. A wide variety of brain injuries can be going on here, but your suspicion on cause is as close to correct as we can get without an autopsy and MRI. In the field I'd suspect intracranial hemorrhaging, decreased oxygen supply to the brain, and increased intracranial pressure secondary to the injuries, with impending herniation. Vital signs would tell us more about the patient but unfortunately we do not have those avaliable to us.
      In this case, I would say that the body most likely has enough oxygen but it's not being adequately supplied to the brain, or the medulla oblongota cannot receive signals from the peripheral chemoreceptors. Physical assessment with presence or lack of priaprism would indicate location of injury within the central nervous system.

    The UK COPS did a pit maneuver on the man that taught my son how to be a real farmer after he had a fight with his ex wife . She chose to call the police with a lot of lies inc that he had threatened her with a shotgun , so when the cops found him he chose to drive off . That was his first mistake , the second was not stopping knowing he didnt have the shotgun out as it was at the farm in the lock box . So after about 10mins the cops chose to do a pit maneuver which snapped his seatbelt and flung him about 30+yards away . He died right there .
    It broke my son as this man had been like a second dad to him after his dad passed when he was 12 . He has Adhd plus others and always loved tractors and heavy work machines so he absorbed everything he was taught by his mate the farmer .
    The coppers did that maneuver wrong but didnt face any comeback for killing him

He likes when I watch him play and he'll ask me, 'Would I have survived that in real life?' I literally cringe. I tell him constantly that there's no do-over's in real life, with real cars. One time he was telling to look at how much 'life' he had left. I asked him where it was on the screen. He said above his avatar's head. I told him to pause his game for a second and look up. He did. I asked him if he saw a meter like the one in the game, he said no. I told him to please always remember that.🙏
