So there was a lot of stuff that wasn't covered in the video that we forgot to touch on. For that, I apologize! We said screw it and pretty much just went with the flow and recorded the video. Here are some things we still wanted to address. Patrol Gloves: PJ and i both wear the Magpul Technical gloves and LOVE THEM! They are slim enough to search with, and we have no problems shooting with them. Mic placement: The mics are placed on our support so we can shoulder our rifles without accidentally activating our PTT. Radio placement: The radio is also placed on our support side so we can still key the PTT on the radio in case our Mic fails. Magazine placement: We have one mag on our belt and one on our rifle for many reasons. Whether for reloading in unconventional positions or if I get injured. If the vest comes off, I still have a source of ammo on my belt. Mainly because having the single mag on the belt allows for an unobstructed reload vs. if I had two mags on the belt. (easier to grab without the other mag next to it) Medical gear: I keep a water-tight evidence bag in my left cargo pocket with chest seals, packing gauze, and a bandage. Knives: I carry a knife that I have no idea who makes, lol. PJ that has a protec whisker. Leg straps: They are fantastic for keeping the gun attached to the leg but are a double-edged sword. The leg strap can introduce some issues while seated in a patrol vehicle. The leg strap keeping your holster pinned makes the holster point toward your knee, which can present some problems drawing the weapon while seated. If you do not have the leg strap, the holster stays in line with your hips and goes down towards your seat belt, allowing for a more straight up and down draw while seated. I've also run into issues while on long tracks due to the strap adding more tension to my right leg to the point where my right leg works harder than my left.
Must be nice working for a department that doesn't dictate every single aspect of what you carry. Meanwhile I'm over here still rocking a brass badge and basket weave.
Awesome video! I’ve been an LEO for about 3 years and my gear has constantly evolved throughout that time…super helpful and entertaining to watch how some of my favorite peeps run their tools and why….please keep making content like this with your positive vibes way to grow the 2a community!
wow your department really supports you guys getting and having the gear to help you do your job better. Must be nice. at my agency we all have to have the same duty belt (leather velcro safariland), same vest carriers, same attachments on vests, etc... its nice to see agencies that are more modern and forward thinking in terms of letting its officers get and use the gear to helps them with their job.
Glad I finally found some time to watch this one. Looking at becoming an officer in WA as well, really cool to see how you guys have your gear set up. Not sure exactly what department I’ll end up at but hopefully they’ll be lenient in allowing me to configure my patrol gear how I want to. Cheers and stay safe out there fellas.
A strong, well built patrol rifle is absolutely invaluable. The number of incidents that we've seen ended rapidly and smoothly because that one officer grabbed his rifle from the trunk before going in
A lot of guys carry spare batteries but your light never dies at a convenient time and you’re not going to be changing a battery during a search. I’ve found just having two of the same light on your rig is very useful. My second light comes in handy for other guys more often than it does for me. 😅
Sick video. Any chance you could do a video showing how you modified your rapid force duty holster to accommodate your Staccato P? There's no videos covering the topic. Safarilands are great for the Staccatos, but like you said in a previous video, the draw isn't as consistent. Thanks!
Amazing that your department lets you tailor your gear to your preference, even down to your duty gun. I don’t know of any departments in my area that have this sort of philosophy.
Same thing I thought! Years ago (late 80's) the agency I retired from allowed me to carry my own pistol, as they still issued revolvers. Then in the 90's they began issuing the Glock I was carrying and required everyone to carry the issued weapon. They allowed me to carry a third magazine on my duty belt and I also wore my own 3A body armor instead of the level 2 they issued. Other than that, we had to carry what they gave us.
A note on the asp cuff holder if you take your cuffs off the holder and tighten just one cuff down one more notch it’ll stay. Also they will work with other brand cuffs. I love and hate the asp cuffs. The keyless double lock and keyholes on both sides are great but they’re kinda flimsy and I’ve had them go off of the track and get stuck. Also s&w makes oversized cuffs diameter wise that will get just as tight as the normal sized cuffs.

It is very helpful and informative, and I cant get enough of it. I found you through your first colab video with Garand Thumb, and that video was the first time Id ever seen someone with a TQ mounted to the front of their handgun holster. Literally paused that video so I could look into that set up more, and brother Ive been running a holster mounted TQ on my duty rig ever since. I actually remember thinking "Wow, yea, thats literally just a bunch of unused empty real estate. This is an awesome idea.". Im a smaller framed guy, so belt space is limited (especially if I want to keep as much crap off my back as possible), and that completely changed how I started looking at how I set up my duty gear. I can honestly say that thanks to you, and of course a big thanks to my fellow Officer / Instructor who has given me several hours on the range to train and get better, that my perspective towards what I carry and how I carry it is so much better. Im more comfortable, Ive been able to bring gear to the fight that otherwise would have been sitting in the car or in a bag somewhere, and Ive also invested in making sure to get quality items that I used to just go "standard issue" with. You've also played a big role in getting me to pay more attention to constantly evaluate my set up and what Im running, and every once in a while when I get an idea for how I might change my particular set up for potentially more benefit I go ahead and try it out to see if it works or not. As a result of all of this, I feel more professional and ready for the job, Ive received several complements from other Officers both in and out of my agency and from folks such as retired LE and vets for how well Im put together, and I can honestly say that on at least 2 separate occasions decisions Ive made due to your influence have saved my life and the life of one of our brothers. PJs problem with the Earmor headset is his PTT. For some reason, you gotta use the Earmor PTT. They advertise the headsets as working with nato wired PTTs but that’s not the case. Maybe you could reach out to someone like JCI Comms and see if he can play with the wiring on them so they work with other PTTs. ~ another Earmor user
So as a cop, Do you get to customize every aspect of your gear? Or does that depend on department? or do they just give you randomly anything and say "go"?
It depends on department. My department has an approved list for everything. It gets down to literally what lights, optics, grips, I can put on my patrol rifle. It covers what brand pouches I can put on my outer carrier and which outer carrier I can use. I got issued a bunch of basket weave safariland gear by the department, the vest and a litany of the things I use everyday I bought, but only if it's on the approved list. I work for a larger cities department, and in my experience larger municipal departments are generally like this. We at least get to do things like that. The sheriffs office here bans lights and optics on their issued rifles. You will have a carry handle iron sight and a A2 handguards or you can just take the days off. They cant wear carriers or anything but under the uniform shirt soft armor and basket weave safariland belts and pouches. The Sheriif thinks its unprofessional to have any thing he didn't have when he was patrol in 1993. Smaller city agencies, like 30 officers or less, are a mixed bag. I see some decked out like these dudes, and some are crazy strict. I am in the South, so we have a lot of small rural agencies as well. These are the get a badge issued, buy your own gun, buy your own gear, no health insurance, $14 an hour departments. I have seen a mixture of what ever they can afford on them. LA Police Gear has a nylon duty belt kit for security guards that's like 60 bucks and I see a lot of that on those guys. That's not looking down on them, I want that to be known, it's crazy they even do the job for that.
I tried Velcro inner belt but went back to keepers. I felt it was more comfortable as I started carrying more gear like taser, additional mags, etc on my rig. The keepers seemed better for me cause it let the belt have a little room to breath and be not so rigid for when I get in and out of the car. I would run 5 keepers instead of just 4.
Magnifier is Juliet 3, 4, or 5? I've got the aimpoint 3x-c, just haven't looked through the Vortex ones before to confirm if the clarity and/or eye relief was good but sounds like it is if you're using it with nods. Thanks Don.
Im one of the old retired guys who had a vest under a shirt. I loved that outer vest carrier when I got to a specialized unit. But these are more like actual plate carriers without plates. How would you be able to put a hard rifle plate carrier over all that stuff? Also never carried a rifle mag on my duty belt or vest to save weight on my everyday rig and because I was also an old guy who ran a redi mag on my rifle to carry two mags immediately without thinking.
So my agency uses the Bothell 2.0 from safariland. It carries my soft armor. It also has a separate pocket for plates. I run my ceramic plates inside my patrol carrier every day. It's more and more common to see guys running both on their outer carriers. Yes, it's heavier, and bulkier, but I ran a heavy carrier in the Marines for ten years, so I am used to it. I came in older, my days of running 7 or 8 minute miles after people are way past me now, so I don't sweat the weight. I like it because if I have to jump out on something crazy, I am not messing with a heavy vest or putting on any different gear, I just roll. And, AR's are very popular in my state, which I am all for. The side effect is the street shooters we have, and God knows we have a lot, are running AR pistols and rifles. It's not uncommon to find 5.56 on shooting scenes or chase a shots fired car and them be dumping three or four rifles out. It's so prevelant here I want rifle armor. On a side note, the ready mag is still very popular where I am. We can't have extra mag pouches for rifles on us by policy, so everyone buys the ready mag.

Awesome video, Mojo. My time I'm the military wrecked my back from carrying so much weight. Seems like everything, including plates, are much lighter. Question about your time marketing Griffin suppressors. Do you prefer the Dual-lok 5 or HRT?
Great video. Thank God for the "gear dudes". All the old timers curse you, but we all know they are useless anyways. The only thing you can depend on them to do is dodge calls. To each their own, but hinge cuffs are the way to go. Fits the bigger dudes and gives and excellent point of leverage. That being said, this is coming from a dude that was retired from LE 18 years ago. The only thing that has changed is, well a lot has changed. LOL. The only one that I would consider a positive one is you guys have much cooler kit. We thought running a Colt AR with an Aimpoint Comp M2 and a Surefire (with a incandescent bulb) mounted to the barrel was the tip of the spear. Been running the 47 frame with 19 slide and PMM comp. Really dig it.
Can you explain your mag holsters again. I have been carrying my horizontal on my belt, on gun side, open faced. I have an outer carrier and have ran into issues of carrying my mags on support side vertical due to brushing up against the bottom of the vest.I know ideally that’s the better place to have mags and reload from. Thanks.
Hey Mojo! Your PTT when you connect your tac headset. Can you use the mic in the PTT and discard the mic on the headset? I’ve researched everywhere but can’t find anything on it.
hey mojo, when you get a chance can you do a video strictly on your vest or we can talk privately. But I'm looking to upgrade my agency issued vest. To this system. Perfect setup for our day-to-day operations.
Hey Mojo, any chance you could do a full review of your griffin armament 30sdk and m4sdk. I'm seriously considering getting them but I'm having a hell of a time finding info on them. Things like, how many mags before it starts to glow in IR, how rugged is the can, and in comparison to an RC2 how is the flash suppression and how well does the suppressor work with night vision? Please and thank you.
Better to have gear dudes as backup than dudes that spend all their free time playing golf.

Would you be willing to do a slightly deeper dive on the griffin cans? Not a lot of review info on it but I've been meaning to get a dual lok 5
Thanks.
Super awesome video. Much appreciated! Definitely helpful info to set up my belt
How does the taser and ar mag feel sitting in a patrol vehicle? Any issues or comfort issues? Thanks!
What agency do u guys work for ? It’s also cool your agency allows that gear. Our agency is still very traditional
We need a patrol vehicle setup video
Thanks for all the badass videos man. Do you offer training to the public/civs? I'd love to attend a class if so.
What attachment do you have on the trex arms magazine holder thingy beside the molle from Guardian Solution?
Must be nice to have a Chief that will even allow chest carriers. “MuH pRoFeSsIoNaLiSm”

Are you running the 34 in an aliengear? If so, how?
Literally took a glock 17 holster and chopped the bottom and removed the sight channel with a dremel. Once i did that, game over hahah
Damn y’all are some swagged out Leo’s
Hey Mojo!
Your PTT when you connect your tac headset. Can you use the mic in the PTT and discard the mic on the headset?
I’ve researched everywhere but can’t find anything on it.
I’ve got the same armor express carrier. It just came today
Are you guys back in Washington?
So you are running safari-land armor panels inside that LPAC? Any fitment issues, like the soft armpit not sitting correctly?
Im also curious
How do you compare the Defense Mechanism Belt to Lead Devil or the new Agilite Belt?
What kind of modifications did you do to the Rapid Force holster to run a Staccato in it?
What did yall use to wrap the area that you insert your mags into your AR’s? Did you just buy the basic adhesive cordura in multicam black?
Ranger wraps brother!
@@milspec_mojo 💪🏾 thanks. I didnt see them when I went on there last night for some reason but I found them now!
Which vortex magnifier are u running ?
Mojo which staccato model do you carry?
hey mojo, when you get a chance can you do a video strictly on your vest or we can talk privately. But I'm looking to upgrade my agency issued vest. To this system. Perfect setup for our day-to-day operations.
Where do you carry your oc and baton? Idk if i missed it or not.
Are you guys swat too or just patrol?
A modern video on this is great
Why all the 20rd mags? Are you liking those more than 30s right now? I understand the 20 on the belt though
I noticed either of you had med, any specific reason why you don’t vary it on your duty kit?
Check the pinned comment bro

I love that you guys don't get wrapped up in name brand stuff just for having name brand.
Can we get the link for the relocating antenna!? Also running a kenwood
Why would you buy multicam black? In what environment is multicam black for?
What mag pouch are you running with the Ridgeline drop mount?
Holy crap,,,,, a bit more than Jim Reed & Pete Malloy wore back in the day😊
