People consume dairy which has ton of real estrogen in them every day and it goes okay.

@@fironfiron8843 That isn't necessarily true... Phytoestrogens in soy reduce risk of chronic diseases and anti-estrogenic like effects, because they bind to estrogen receptors without activating them, effectively blocking estrogen. I am glad to hear that Healthline is recommending to eat less meat. For those who do not know, soy is only one source of plant protein. Eating a wide variety of plant foods that contain protein will provide all the essential amino acids. They don't have to be eaten at the same meal, either.

    • @damillionmalania
      @damillionmalania 5 лет назад +8

@@shitakemushroomzftw Sorry mate, but that is simply not true. In short: our bodies require about 20 different kinds of protein, whereof 9 are concidered "essential", meaning they are proteins that the body cannot produce by itself so that you will have to get them from your food intake. A food source is concidered to have a complete protein profile if it contains all 9 of the essential amino acids. Meat, dairy and eggs are all complete protein sources. When it comes to vegan protein sources most are actually not complete. There are exceptions though: quinoa, soy, quorn and buckwheat are complete protein sources. In other cases vegans should try to combine foods with different protein profiles. For example, rice is high in the proteins that are missing or very low in beans or peas, so while neither beans nor rice has a complete protein profile, a bean chili with rice is a dish with a complete protein profile.
Hope that helps to clarify some misconceptions. :)

This guy is exactly right. Only people who ate upwards of +10 servings of soy products experienced any signs of negative effects. Also, those side effects were mild compared to home the actual mammalian estrogen found in meats, dairy and eggs will effect you.
Often times will actually find people citing this study only having read parts of it.
      humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/23/11/2584.long
If you read it through you will learn that he found no difference in sperm count, rather they found a difference in ejaculate fluid amount. Basically these soyboys we're just busting bigger loads.
Phytoestrogens have anti-estrogen-like effects which means that they don't increase estrogen like Estrone does. They have been shown to reduce risk of many chronic diseases including cancer.
Estrone is an actual mammalian estrogen hormone that actually raises estrogen, unlike phytoestrogens which are healthy and have been used to treat menopausal symptoms. Estrone is in dairy and beef, however other products like eggs and other meats contain estrogen hormones as well as cortisol a stress hormones which raises cortisol in you body. In addition, the mass producers of meats are feeding animals low quality gmo soya to save money so you are likely getting concentrated amounts of it everytime you eat meat, dairy or eggs.
Even the man-made "environmental estrogen" like PCB's are most often found in fish. Studies suggest that they reduce sperm count.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually the opposite. If you eat non gmo soy milk, it’s fine. Phytoestrogens are actually at its lowest(not like it’s going to do too much) in soy milk, and often filtered out. You only need a few soy beans to make soy milk. Soy protein isolate is a weird one. It’s ok to have every now and then but shouldn’t be a staple or typical protein source in your diet(might as well have something less processed and more nutrient dense like tofu)

    • @shitakemushroomzftw
      @shitakemushroomzftw 5 лет назад +3

I would say that processed soy products are no better for you than processed animal products. Soy isolates and whey isolates are comparable and I would recommend against them both. Neither can really be considered healthful as they do not provide health benefits like what you would get from whole plant foods. Tempeh and tofu are both processed. However, you should go with tempeh over tofu as the beans are more whole, less processed, has more fiber and protein and it's fermented so it actually promotes healthy gut flora.
Basic questions/lines of reasoning for determining how healthful a food choice is would be first: Is it a whole food? Then if is processed, how processed and is it still nutrient dense or serve some purpose in aiding health/ weightloss? Eg. vinegar is a healthy processed food. Next look for the fat content and type of fats. Avoid too many saturated fats, avoid all forms of oil. If not, just limit your oil intake (most processed foods contain added oils), and avoid all trans fats--all animal products contain trans fats btw). Steer clear of added sugar, similar to oils, sugar is highly processed and should be avoided as much as possible. Lastly watch out for sodium content, aka salt.

I then developed a lump in my chest. Breast cancer in men is rare, but possible. I went to my doctor, and he put me through a series of tests for cancer. I researched what I could eat to help my chances. The documentary "Forks Over Knives" convinced me. I dumped the whey and switched to a mostly Whole Food Plant Based vegan diet. By the time I was supposed to have a biopsy, they weren't able to get a sample, because my lump had shrunk so much. I felt so much more energy on my new diet, I kept it. In fact, I am now 100% vegan years later. I am in my 60's, and never felt better. I get glowing reports from my doctor and need no prescriptions. I do exercise. Everyone should. 6. Greatly reduce saturated fat and cholesterol in diet; avoid avocados, olives, and coconuts
      7. Exercise more, e.g., aerobics, strength training, and stretching

0:24 Right off the bat you claim soy is a complete protein. *Attention* all plants have a complete amino acid profile meaning from a strawberry to a carrot, from beans to lettuce, they all have complete proteins. Gelatin is not a "complete" protein....
0:45 there is no evidence proving that whey is better for muscle building than soy. You can link me
I would recommend people avoid protein isolates of all forms and stick to whole plant foods. Generally speaking, whole plant foods are very nutrient dense, low-fat, and *not* very calorically dense. They are loaded with fiber and antinutrients. You shouldn't be afraid of fiber or "anti-nutrients", it's like being afraid of antioxidants. Do your research...
Another thing to research is phytoestrogens. Plant estrogens have anti estrogenic like effects and improve menopausal symptoms. Where as the *mammalian estrogen* found in all dairy products and meat and eggs will raise estrogen, and for men lower their testosterone too. so next time you avoid eating tofu because of phytoestrogens, and instead you decide to go for the chicken you are doing the exact opposite of what you should be doing...

whey protein has been proven to be better for muscle growth as soy protein. look it up yourself. doesnt mean soy is a good source of protein. im vegan myself so praise the lord that soy protein powder exists.
furthermore soy is a whole protein as in it contains all the needed amino acids. ITS IN FACT THE ONLY PLANT BASED PROTEIN SOURCE TO CONTAIN ALL AMINO ACIDS needed by humans.
almonds, chickpeas etc are ofcourse still good. a good diet is a balanced diet imo

*"Attention all plants have a complete amino acid profile meaning from a strawberry to a carrot, from beans to lettuce, they all have complete proteins"*
Attention, You're wrong. Look at amino-acids profile in USDA database and calculate. Most plant based sources of protein lacks leucine and most legumes lacks methionine. That's a fact.
*there is no evidence proving that whey is better for muscle building than soy. You can link me*
Yes, there are evidences. Look at metrics like Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER), Biological Value (BV), Net Protein Utilization (NPU), Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS). *Do Your research*
      *and not very calorically dense*
20g of complete protein from plant based food is about 500kcal (after calculation based on above metrics). 20g of complete protein from animal based food is about 70-100kcal.
      *low-fat*
Fat is essential nutrient for hormonal balance.
*"Where as the mammalian estrogen found in all dairy products and meat and eggs will raise estrogen, and for men lower their testosterone too"*
There is no evidence for this claims. "You can link me".
*"Understand that I used to believe every myth perpetuated in this video. Please do your own research. There really isn't as much controversy and confusion about nutrition as the media makes it out to be..."*
So, where to start doing this research? Your sources?

Soy protein isolate helped me lose a lot of weight which improved my health markedly. I also supplement - like B12. But I also eat whole plant based foods beside that 2.

Not organic soy. Just make sure it's organic. Also, some products that aren't organic will let you know on the package if they are "GMO Free."

Oh Sean... Do you realize who eats this gmo soy? Cows Sean, that who. Which means if you eat any mass produced meat that you eat gmo soy in concentrated amounts. What is this?! Sean eats grass fed organic belly rub and back massaged beef?!?!? Well then any time you have ever eaten you you likely consumed that cheaper soy beef. Yep, you get concentrated amounts of environmental pollutants, antibiotics, sex hormones, cortisol, cholesterol, TMAO's, THE LOT SEAN!
Anyways Sean... Keep up the good work, promoting old myths so we can repeatedly bust em'.

Alkan's Bot a myth? 98% of soy is gmo, that’s all I stated and it’s 100% true. Eat what you want , I won’t be eating any soy and as little non organic as possible.
