This was much needed Palki, for me. Thankyou so much for choosing this topic today.
The crux is: We need to strike a balance between our brain and the second brain, we cant document everything and its not even necessary. Instead of being preoccupied with our phone, we just have to pay attention to the things around us. Because brain can remember every important thing that's the beauty, because Clarity > Clutter

Palki, Whenever I hear from you, I never feel like I am hearing updates around the world. it feels as if I am reading an interesting article or a thoughtfully written essay or a beautiful discussion or conversation with a well informed person. You deliver not just the news or updates, but back it up with adequate research, supporting data, connected stories, sarcastic humour, personal views, popular quotes etc.. It is like listening to a powerful speech that delivers the final inspirational message seamlessly. Thank you so much for that. Coming to this topic of brain, our brain can store even an entire encyclopedia. Researchers believe that even Einstein used only 2% of his brain. Such is the capacity of our brains. But unfortunately in the name of technological development, we not only forgot it, but also forbade our own body parts to do the designed tasks. We have curated 20 amazing and shocking facts on human brain in our educational channel as well and that was when we understood how least we are all using our brains and how most depending on external elements to do its job. Thank you once again for bringing this to highlight in your own sweet style. :)

I like you. Granted I didn't at first cuz of the U.S. bashing but you were actually right about our politicians. That is not to say thst well all like our politicians. I had forgotten how spiritual India was. You're right about the brain and we only use about 15% of it's capacity for everything as it is.
I'd like to touch on something I read on the net about India. It was a piece written by an Indian male who spoke of why India was still considered a 3rd world country. There were 5 major things but the main that hit hard with me was that there is too much spousal abuse of the women, that they don't have the same rights as men. He also stated that India is leading the world in innovation and discovery, like medical and industrial.
You should do a write up of how we as people can help each other. We may be different culturally but we are really all part of one race, the human race. What can I do to help India? I am a Texan btw. Just thought you might want to know. :)

I have been watching the show for quiet a while now ... well i mean and i have agreed with almost all if not all of them yet .... but for this one i don't think if i do agree 100% i mean the story about the girl was an example but it was quiet an extreme example of sorts ... I'm sure most of us do remember how we felt about a person the first time and then we met them for the same reason for the 3rd time .... besides that's not the point, according to my view, i feel like even if the capacity of the brain is 2.5 petabyte, it is ofcourse definitely impossible to remember all of what's happening, yes it is important to enjoy the time you are having and not just jotting down whatever you feel at the moment but the fact that this tech is available for us to do so is kind of a blessing, and especially the example she gave us about the office files .... it is definitely a need for all the offices to store the information for which second brain is necessary, besides if we are talking about getting dependent on the technology..... i feel lile its pretty normal for it to happen, i mean look at us even having electricity is a feat of technological advancements and we are dependent upon it, so i don't think if its right to judge a tech of such high capabilities just by some trivial reasons.....
Besides that's just my opinion, i do love this show and how the host is dedicated to bring us knowledge on different topics!!

While I support the idea of not having to rely on a second brain space for the storage of personal details, thoughts, experiences, etc., the narrative and examples quoted were largely confined to personal situations and hardly scratches the surface of academic/professional contexts. I've been toying myself with the idea of setting up my own knowledge management space, where excerpts of information from news articles, technical publications, lectures, books pertaining to various topics along with industry insights, technology trends I come across are retrievably documented & categorised. Beyond text, audio, images, I'd also like to build a virtual knowledge world that'll allow to form multidimensional illustrations and picturizations that pop up in the brain while learning new concepts and ideas. Such a storage would allow revisiting/reinforcing the learning path and the associations/personal notes formed in the process, to ultimately enhance the learning/re-learning experience. In this regard, the human brain could very well benefit from a supplementary storage/retrieval knowledge base.

    • @chandrasekarvenkataramani1843
      @chandrasekarvenkataramani1843 2 года назад

@Mugen's channel I'm thinking more along the lines of a personalised knowledge space, which has an individual's own interpretations, inferences and learnings stored... Sort of connections, associations, analogies I make during the learning process to better grasp concepts.. For e.g. Google maps might give directions, but everyone remembers/might remember the route/location differently.. for some it is a flower shop, for others the grocery store, etc...

Thank you M/s Palki Sharma for sharing this idea with sufficient analysis, explanations and personal thoughts. I believe, we all are created mysteriously with sophisticated brain, which we are not using it in full capacity. I buy your idea, that using our brain is sufficient without looking for the second brain. The limitless vault of knowledge is within us. Thank you once again.

Hi, scientists discover that the last 3,000 years our brains capacity decline by 30% du to writing and urban Life style, because we began writing down all information, and we didn't need to remember everything, and also urban life became easyer to live there, so our brains became relaxed, and lazy, so this was the ancient second brain, and it's a good example for as today.

I’m afraid that the technology will make us morons within near future. As an aging person, I can tell you that keeping the memory sharp is important. “Use it or lose it” is the rule. Forgetting the past is also important for our mental well-being.
Anyway you have to be commended for selecting such a relevant topic.

We don't need any more apps, and definitely don't need a 2nd brain...in my opinion. Great subject for discussion! Attention is the hottest commodity in this world, we just don't understand the power of our attention!!

Memory formation, memory retention and memory recall are all essential neurological components of cerebration. Institutions are teaching developing brains short-term rather than long-term memory recall, hence these technologically assisted memory recall strategies are beneficial to modern thinkers.

for a better answer: ask a musician how he transpires his emotion web into music. All the people should have an artist brain, either painting or dancing or singing or playing some instrument to transpire his/her thought and that is the best way to archive one's memory going forward.

Interesting info. I had no idea this existed. That's how much time I spend on my phone and the App Store. I read books, go on the archive, watch documentaries and, once in a while, watch a good tv show on Netflix. Yes, I like to write poetry and have some short stories I've begun, and my notes are everywhere, but I like re-reading them. Sometimes, they're pretty good, and I think, "did I write that?" I've a check shopping list on my phone I reuse whenever I go to the market. I do just fine with the brain I have. Thank you, Palki for sharing this. I agree with you.

As kids we used to write a journal or diary entries but flipping through the pages later on is totally different from these apps which give a cold impersonal feel. More than the act of noting down our thoughts or a job list it is the constant interaction (and dependence) with the phone really which I think is actually depressing. It has good uses like staying in touch with the family and friends (better than the old landline which didn't travel with us), clicking instant photos and videos, even a job list/shopping list or reminders. We don't really need any more apps.
