    • @Truthorfib
      @Truthorfib 10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah but what is a balanced diet? How do you monitor what you have an excess of and a defeciency of? Like for example tomatoes are a good source of Vitamin A but if you eat too much of it you could get poisoned. How do you know you’ve taken enough Selenium in your diet? People basically need to be nutritionist to actually have a real balanced diet. Not to mention most people who sautee or boil their vegetables dont know that boiling or sauteeing it actually diminishes the nutritional value of the food. Basically nowadays microwaving food like shiitake mushrooms is healthier

    • @JohnJo6319
      @JohnJo6319 8 месяцев назад

      you need to get blood tests to find out what you specifically may be deficient in - some people are more deficient in Vitamin B12, others Vitamin D (if they live in a cold country for example). You might be lucky and not be deficient in any of those things, in which case a balanced diet recommended by your doctor or government will be enough@@Truthorfib

And also to practice the 'religious precepts ', up to the highest bidder too. Also , I could remember he added further, " Child , you keep it mind, in every 3rd yr MBBS final examination, there's a book called, 'Oxford text book of medicine ' by the Dr. Charles C. Coltan, for pharmacology . In that book, he thoroughly emphasise, 'The examinations are formidable even to the best prepared : the greatest fool may ask, and the wisest man cannot " .According to that theory, Lady Palki done a 'herculean task ' , challenging to 'myths 'in the medical sector, and also 'cutting the 'hordian knot ' . The same with powdered suppiments. The problem is that in too many nations, the nutrition density of food grown is diminishing in nutrients that we need to consume more to feel satiated. When the knowledge of nutrition is low and culinary culture is hardly taught , then the pharmaceutical vitamin industry strives.

      Mostly across Asia, people consume plenty vegetables. And food is accompanied by fresh sauces n chutneys + curd & a variety of fermented food -- almost all cooked from scratch at home . In the West the dependency is high on meat & processed food.
      And most of the studies on nutritional needs comes from the West based on what their people undergo & thats what the world largely takes as the golden rule for nutrition & diet .

    I was raised on a farm. Farmlands the world over, with few exceptions, are exhausted. Back in the 1980s we used thousands of gallons of petroleum based nitrogen fertilizer to grow hundreds of acres of corn. The corn would be stunted and produce nothing without this fertilizer. There simply not enough nutrients in our food. Like anything else too many vitamins is bad for you, but certainly a quality multivitamin and minerals can help your body rebuild itself... Besides doctors are now like lawyers, you don't know who to trust. They are driven by big Pharma and that is a shame...

      I'm a doctor and no doctor ever prescribes multi vitamin as a standalone treatment, it is prescribed for any deficiency or to rule out any deficiency ! Coz sometimes it can be baldness or simple vitamin deficiency !! This is an example and in cases of genuine deficiency , there will be lab reports that show deficiency and in cases to rule out deficiency for any suspected diseases it is cheaper for the patient to use a course of multivitamins rather than testing the patient for that specific vitamin or mineral independently and my man you're welcome to check for every diagnostic test price near you !! So Please don't talk about doctors or their degree like this when you dont know about it completely! Yeah doctors might make off something's , but a cheap ass vitamin tablet isn't gonna pay us anything ! Use common sense, why will they advertise for multi vitamins , have you ever heard paracetamol advertisement?? Coz the companies know we won't give them to patients unless there is a cause !!

      Most lower income Americans cannot afford plentiful vegetables & fruit, so supplementation can be very helpful. Large percentage of Americans have diets high in carbohydrates and fats, and are usually low in nutrients, but that's what they can afford. Some areas are considered food deserts which means it's very difficult (if not impossible) to get fresh produce. Supplementation can definitely make a positive difference in those cases.

      Protein supplements are just food, and of course they work.
      But food has a lot of other stuff we want. So, start with that.
      The kind of protein we usually don't get enough of nowadays is Collagen.
      So, that's where supplements can be the right answer.
      Although, we usually don't get enough protein at breakfast. So, that's where supplements might do the most good. 30 g of whey, perhaps. And then the rest of the day, just good food.

    How do you combat the loss of nutrients in our soil and food from unsustainable farming practices and processing of food to increase shelf life?
    Plus as our activity levels reduce, we require less and less calories to function. In fear of gaining weight, people are eating in a deficit. Humans would've required 3000-4000 calories a day then. Now it's less than 2000 for the majority. Most people don't even eat 2 servings of vegetables a day. Even if they ate 5-6 servings of mixed varieties of vegetables, the points above such as
    1. Soil nutrient depletion
    2. Food processing
    3. Decreased activity
    4. Low bioavailability from poor gut health
    5. Calorie dense nutrientless food filling up the stomach
    And many more factors make it so that just eating a healthy diet just isn't enough anymore.
    I agree that the supplement industry is unregulated. If that's the case push for regulation. There are so many studies. But how many of them are transparent about which brand they used? Do they know what else the people ate or drank during this time? Studying people's diets isn't a simple task.
    The need for supplements is real. The solution is to search for the most trustworthy supplement brands out there. Stuff that has been out there since the advent of supplements. People who only use organic farms. People who function worldwide in the most number of countries. Not the ones that popped up after Covid to ride the trend.
    I've been taking supplements since I was 6 years old. Up until then I was at the hospital every week. My immunity was in the gutter. Now I'm probably one of the healthiest people in my peer group. I won't say it's just the supplements, but they definitely made a huge impact. I've been donating blood once every 3 months since I turned 18. My Hb is always on point when I turn up to donate. My Vitamin D levels were low when I tested, even though I go cycling for 2-3 hours in the morning 3 times a week. I started supplementing and it improved!

    Vitamin D deficiency is for real & so is B12 for most people. We surely need supplements as most of the food’s nutritional value has been deteriorated due to extensive use of chemical fertilisers in our agriculture. Moreover we eat 95% of our food cooked at high temperatures which ultimately destroys most of its micro nutrients. Hence I would say multivitamin is must but surely from an authentic source or brand.

    Good report and presentation. Years ago only seniors took vitamin pills. It seems now parents are giving their kids a steady diet of them as well as themselves, regardless of how good their diet is. I'm a firm believer your body is designed to keep you healthy. It does not need regular supplements. If you take supplements regularly your body will quit producing or processing your natural cycle and start to rely upon those supplements, if they happen to be a brand not full of fillers.
    But of course we all get sick or nature gets interrupted. Then you need medical advice. If your blood works shows you're lacking something, then by all means supplement. But get blood work done regularly every 3 months to see if the supplements are working or if it is time to quit them and start eating foods which address the body's shortages. ie iron - eat extra red meat; Vitamin D - eat extra mushrooms, Vitamin B12 - eat extra carrots, etc.

IF one's Diet IS optimal there May be No need for supplementation;.......but studies show that >70% of Americans are Vitamin D deficient AND You should research WHY the US government started to MANDATE the addition of certain Vitamins and Minerals to common foods such as Milk and some grains.✌️🙏😎🇬🇾

    While your talk has been a great revelation to non-medicos like me, I'm wondering what to take to get the required nutrients especially when safety and quality of fresh fruits and veggies is so debatable. Many doctors are supportive of the multivitamin supplements available in the market.

      You're wondering about safety of fruits & vegetables but not the synthetic supplements made in drug labs?? Grow your own garden, go to farmer's markets, look for non-GMO. It's no wonder doctors prescribe vitamins, as they've been deeply indoctrinated into PHARMA, which also make the supplements. In fact, the first synthetic vitamin in 1916, Metagen Multivitamin, was manufactured by Parke, Davis & Co., who became a division of PFIZER in 2000.
