Glad you mentioned donating blood. Donating blood is the only way to exercise the blood system like any other system of the body. Regularly donating blood trains your body to make fresh red blood cells, trains your body to rapidly clot leaks. Though I haven't donated as much the last 30 years being an over the road truck driver, but I have donated near 18 gallons the 30 years before. The training lasts a long time.

Potassium is very important too! I've found that taking potassium usually completely eliminates migraines too, within just a few minutes after taking some. I still haven't figured out the "exact required" dosage, but I have some potassium salt that I take 1/4 teaspoon of at a time, every 10-20 minutes or so, until my headache goes away completely, when and if I ever get one, and that usually works within an hour or less, to completely eliminate a migraine and make you feel 100% again... So I just wonder if getting headaches is a result of being low in potassium... ? (Taking potassium works MUCH better than taking any kind of manufactured drugs for a headache, like aspirin, etc, plus, potassium works without any detrimental side effects!)
I don’t trust my two doctors. I always ask my equine vet and dog/cat vet and pick their brains. Our government has disappointed me over and over. Thank you Dr Berg for giving me options

I'm over 50 now and I do all things in this video and especially love Vitamin K2. I get it from Australian Emu Oil, duck fat, and pasture raised eggs and grass-fed meats. My step-father at over 70 eats tons of "enriched" pasta all his life and now has 2 stints. He takes doctor-ordered statins too. He is tired of all my food and diet advice to throw away the wheat and statins and eat real food. People really don't like being told that they eat badly especially when they don't think they do. Oh well. I feel better than ever since I changed my diet to eating whole foods, got rid of seed oils, and the supplements I take are mainly from whole food sources as well, i.e. emu oil for K2 and fermented cod liver oil for Vit A & D3.
For the sauerkraut if you want to purchase look for sauerkraut fermented with just salt and also is unpasteurized so as to ensure the probiotics are there.
This video is useful but as you said it has missed some important vitamins and minerals, specially for healthy mature people and even more important for people with some metabolic disorder. I do have a healthful diet, I grow a good part of my fruit and veg. This is my daily vit and minerals intake (each person has to tailor his/her own). Omega 3 Vit D3 Potassium K2 Complex B (every other day or so). Lutein + Zeaxanthin Magnesium Zinc from foods only I did not tolerate the chemical form, I get 90 % artisan chocolate :) Vit C (from citrus fruit which I have several types in my orchard).
With iron I would say don't guess, get tested. I always assumed because I'm a man and over 60 that I should studiously avoid iron. After getting tested I was actually low. I now take the chelated form of iron MWF (taking it every day actually hinders absorption) and my levels are back in low range normal.

Why was a photo of carrots used for vitamin A? Carrots don't contain vitamin A (retinol), they contain pre-vitamin A carotenoids (beta carotene). The body only converts around 2% of beta carotenoids into retinol.
Because the sub-contracted video-editor will do this video then do one about funny-cats followed by an advert for leather-look handbags, they have zero interest in details.
Dr. Berg talks about all the great sources of bioavailable pre-formed vitamin A (retinol), i.e. butter, beef, liver, etc. and yet the video shows carrots which aren't even real source of vitamin A, and yet the video shows photos of carrots.....they need to teach their video editors that Google image searches aren't accurate for nutrition.
Just thought I would mention as a clinical scientist it’s important to take the right kind of Magnesium. Choose the one that is bound to an amino acid.
Isn't synthetic Vitamin A very dangerous for smokers and former smokers in increasing the risk of lung cancer? Also, I take Niacin, and I LOVE the flush. It makes me feel alive, it feels good. But it doesn't happen all the time. Is there any way to help increase the instance of niacin flush?
I'm an oddball that likes it, too 😂. It distracts from AM panic attacks. I've wondered why it's very intense sometimes and doesn't happen other times. 🤷
Niacin will flush out toxins, so it could have something to do with that. Even old drugs embedded in the fat tissue can be pulled out, with the resulting effect being that of whatever is being flushed out. This is ultimately good for you, so keep going until it is run out. Also, if you take, say, 100 mg of niacin every day for a week, the body will “get used to” it, and you would then have to take a higher dosage to get a flush. It’s important when taking large doses of niacin to take correspondingly higher doses of other vitamins and minerals (such as calcium-magnesium) to keep all of them balanced in the body.
@@beannamated Me too. I've greatly reduced my use of it thinking maybe every day use builds tolerance to it? Nothing odd in liking feeling alive. Cheers
@@jim3150 That makes sense, I never thought of it flushing out toxins embedded in fat tissue. Hi Dr Berg, I’m suffering from crawling sensation on my face , under the eyes, have done so for 6 weeks, try healthy diet , no stress and exercise but nothing working. Best description of my condition is FORMICATION, anything I can do for this ????
This is a nervous system disorder. Fast Like a Girl (which is really for men, too, just follow the menopausal woman guidance if you're a man) has an appendix with 30-day fasting protocols for specific conditions, and there is one for brain/neurological disorders. That's what I'd do if I were you.
My response got deleted so I'll be more vague. There's a fasting book out there with a month long protocol for neuro-regenerational health in it - your disorder is one of the nervous system. It's by a popular RUclips female whose channel is about fasting. Hopefully you will be able to see this and figure it out.
My Doctor told me to take Calcium supplements daily, however, I decided not to and glad I didn’t. Also appreciate knowing what I should be taking and eating…
Thanks, Dr. Berg, for your unmatched health tips. I have a question about the safety of different forms of vitamin A. For instance, is taking vitamin A as beta-carotene safer in terms of toxicity compared to taking vitamin A as retinol? Would that make any difference and be safer for adults above 50 years old?
Vitamin A toxicity is rare, but taking a synthetic vitamin A supplement may increase your risk. Synthetic vitamin A may also increase the risk of lung cancer. Accutane, a form of synthetic vitamin A, has serious potential side effects. I suggest getting your vitamin A from food sources or natural food-based supplements. Foods high in vitamin A (retinol): • Cod liver oil • Egg yolks • Grass-fed butter • Grass-fed cheese • Liver Beta carotene is the precursor to the active form of vitamin A (retinol). Beta carotene is in foods like carrots and spinach. But, If you’re relying on beta carotene alone to get your vitamin A or if you have a liver or gallbladder issue, you could be deficient in vitamin A. Hope this helps!
I live in Minnesota and in the summer I take 4-5,000 IU daily of Vitamin D, and in the winter months I take 6-7,000 IU daily. My number is 66 and they say anything between 30-80 is ideal. I hardly ever get sick. I also take 500mg of Garden of Life Raw Vitamin C during cold and flu season.

Dr Berg, I have such respect for you for providing a wide range of relevant helpful health information in an easy format and for putting the transcript in the description for quick and convenient consumption. So thanks.
They wanted me dead and refused medical treatment because i wouldn't get their shot. no more blood for you and no more organs when i die.

❤it makes total sense!❤
We require 4700mg per day according to Dr Berg and Dr. Berry!
My migraine pain goes away with magnesium only…

Great, Ollefela! I will follow what you take. God bless you❤

I used to wear sunglasses every day for 30 years but spent plenty of time in the sun. My muscle mass was always average even if I did weights, but would have to keep up the weights to keep any descent muscle tone. Last couple of years I started helping a friend installing solar panels on roofs and I noticed in summer that I would get sunburned but my friend who is in his 50's like me and fair skinned didn't. I noticed he didn't wear sunglasses. So after researching sunlight, sunglasses and sunburn looking for a connection. I tried not wearing sunglasses and daily looking at the peripheral of the sun for a few seconds until my eyes would squint from the brightness. After a few weeks I started noticing that my muscle mass all over my body started to become strong and hard to the feel. 57 yrs old now and more muscle mass than i had in my 30's without training. I guess its vitamin D. My partner charges me $100/hr for a massage because she says its like massaging a rock so she has to use her elbows to get me to feel anything. lol

Isn't Niacin hard on your liver in high doses?
Yes. God yes. Don’t do it.
I want to take more than 100 MG but then others have told me not to, it can cause diabetes. 😔 I feel for you, I suffered panic attacks for. along time. NOT FUN. Glad Niacin helps with that!
Ok thanks - will give that. Try

Foods high in vitamin A (retinol):
• Cod liver oil
• Egg yolks
• Grass-fed butter
• Grass-fed cheese
• Liver
Beta carotene is the precursor to the active form of vitamin A (retinol). Beta carotene is in foods like carrots and spinach.
But, If you’re relying on beta carotene alone to get your vitamin A or if you have a liver or gallbladder issue, you could be deficient in vitamin A.
Hope this helps!
Same question I have. I take an organic multi vitamin that vitamin A as beta carotene (945 mcg). Thanks Doc!
