    The genius of this bit is he literally demonstrates how one can take all the stress, negativity, superficiality in one's life and transform it into somethin positive and beautiful. It says so much while literally saying nothing at all.

      I don't understand why you would hear something someone says in a video, then slightly change the wording and post it in the comments of THAT SAME VIDEO as if it's your original thought

    Considering the fact that he actually has high anxiety, standing on stage in front of people doing _nothing_ while hearing "we think we know you" on repeat requires a kind of strength most people can't even conceptualize, i feel. Like, no wonder he started having panic attacks on stage.

  • @bennyboy6537

    6:33 Bo makes a hand gesture as if he wants to cut the ‘we think we know you’ because he is sick of people trying to befriend him exclusively because of his fame, but the loop continues. He has previously been in control of the whole show, having written and performed it all himself, so the fact that the loop is disobeying him highlights the fact that people will never stop wanting to be associated with him, even in the weakest ways (‘my friends old roommate’s friend said he knew you’) for their own self satisfaction, or in the case of the agent, money.
    Additionally when he begins playing the keyboard, the voices grow quieter, as if making music is a way for him to momentarily forget about the stress that came with his fame. But the voices come back up to a louder volume because he can never really rid himself of the stress.
    Wow, thats the longest comment I’ve ever written! 😄

    4:50 this was one of my favorite Bo bits. As someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety professionally, the self-prescribed treatments and therapy like this are truly what have helped me the most. I feel like this bit os describing that… getting the tools and finding the best, personal, and most effective means of coping. Thank you for helping others and helping others learn to help themselves :)

    Bo Burnham is one of the most talented artists of all time. If you keep diving into his stuff, you won’t be disappointed. Neither will we.

  • @unclefoot
    @unclefoot Год назад +16

    Such an awesome song. Bo’s one of the few artists who could do this and make it work. Using one of the most difficult parts of fame as a template for his art is just brilliant.
    Even if he didn’t write it or choreograph it himself, it would still be a hell of an achievement.
    It’s been a bit since you’ve reacted to Bo so I can’t remember whether or not you’ve seen these but I’d love to see your reaction to:
    -That Funny Feeling
    -Art is Dead
    -Left Brain, Right Brain
    -#deep
    -problematic
    Keep ‘em coming!
    Cheers

      @@golden_haze_ lol its possible…I do watch A LOT of Bo reaction videos. He’s one of my favorite artists ever and it’s just fun watching people experience something that he’s done for the first time 🤷‍♂️

      @golden_haze_ Год назад +2

      @@unclefoot yeah I totally agree. For some reason I feel weirdly proud of him, and it’s just nice to see other people appreciate him as much as I do.

    • @unclefoot
      @unclefoot Год назад +2

      @@golden_haze_ yup, samesies lol. I’ve been a fan of his since I first stumbled across his RUclips channel back in 2007…I wanna say the first song of his I ever heard was ‘Sunday School’.
      I think there’s a bunch of different reasons why so many people get so invested in his art…he’s just got that special something, a kind of intellectual/emotional rawness that you can’t really fake. There’s an honesty to it that’s deeply effecting for some.
      It’s cool knowing I’m not the only one looking for new reactions to Bo all the time lol.
      Cheers

    Don't know if it was intentional but one take I had on this that I liked was in the middle he started adding music to the point where you didn't actually hear the words anymore. Then the words started getting louder too but he could then start controlling their pitch and just making it a functional part of the song. To me that seemed like a metaphor of needing/using internal positivity (music/creativity/comedy) to balance out the external negativity (societal interaction/criticisms). Balancing both can keep one mentally intact.

    Omg I can't believe I missed this upload when it came out, thank you for reacting to this song. I love Bo Burnham's pieces and creativity so much, I've showed this song to my friends but none of them seem to understand and feel it as much as I do. It's so beautifully written and expressed through body language, it's truly a work of art, I'm so glad I could be alive in the time that Bo is alive. Thanks for reacting to this, I hope to see more Bo Burnham content in the future :)

People are gonna think what they WANT to think, regardless of what you say or do, n what they choose to think about you says way more about them as a person than it ever will about you!!!

      watching this again i just realised even the end of the song was pointing to the fact that he gets all the negativity and parasocial pressure, to turn it into beauty, to just get more attention from corporate types, that final note i think was another corporate guy trying to speak to him that the pain he just turned into beauty is a real cash cow now. And the cycle restarts. God he is just too good.

    I always find it interesting that people feeling it's dark or bad that he used the "f" word. Not the traditional f word but cant say anything with getting my comment auto deleted. If you've been called it your entire life and people treat as so why cant I use that word? If you're gonna call me something repeatedly cant get mad at me for expressing my feelings of it.

    • @Starburstnova
      @Starburstnova 17 дней назад

      Bo himself has expressed regret over a lot of his past material and that includes stuff like using the F slur here. Should he have used it? No. But honestly with the way it's used here, as a punch towards himself, it could be far, far worse. Especially if people actually did say that to him, which they probably have. He was admittedly a sheltered white kid who got famous really young and he's had to learn hard lessons while in the public spotlight. He grows and tries to be better, holds himself accountable, doesn't try to erase, hide, or minimize things, and apologizes, and that's all anyone can really ask for. I don't like that he used it here, this was 2013 and he should've known better by then. But I also don't think it's right to get super offended over it, at least in this context. I'm not going to make excuses for him, but at the same time, it's important to recognize nuance, that the world isn't black and white, and keep things in perspective.
