I have had a lot of requests on how I prep, clean, and detail the mowers we fix on the channel. I do my best to make them look as good as they perform. I will take you through the steps on how I clean, buff, paint, and shine the mowers up. Thank you all for the support.
I use to be a line tech on diesel cars and trucks. After working in the engine compartment, no matter what I was working on, I would wash the engine compartment. Customers would raise the hood and be much happier about the work that was done. It shows you care in my opinion. I won a lot of repeat customers that way just like you will with your mowers. You turn out good products
It really does make the difference. People see that you go the extra mile and they are willing to come back over and over to get that same treatment. Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing your experience.
Looks really good. Sometimes all it takes is a good cleaning and touch up to double your money.
I really enjoy seeing them transform from crusty to looking good again. It really seems like from my experience people can’t look past cosmetic flaws. Thank you so much for the support as always Steve.
@@freedommowers420 You’re welcome my friend and I agree. My grandpa did this stuff in retirement and many times he would say “You will make more money on a machine with an hour of cleaning than you ever will turning wrenches”
very good. I like the heat trick on the plastic.
Enjoy your videos very much. Good job. But the American flag you have hanging in your shop is displayed wrong. Feild of blue should to the left. Thanks from a U.S. veteran.....Keep up the good work 👍 👍👍
Thank you very much for putting me in check on the flag. I am a veteran as well, and never realized I displayed improper. Thank you for your service and stopping by the channel.
Sir, perhaps you could help me with something. My father had a full military funeral. My mother was presented the flag folded neatly, but for whatever reason she refused it and then the honor guard presented it to me (I really wanted that flag) but not being the first born I felt my older brother was more entitled to it. He's a combat veteran (Vietnam) he gives it to his son instead. So one day Iam over at my brother's house and down in the basement where my nephew slept there on the wall unfolded like some kind of rock poster thumbtack all thru it was my dad's ceremonial flag. I almost lost it. Fast forward 20 years or more I finally get the flag in my hands it's mine now. It's still not folded so my question is what am I allowed to do with it can it be flown or does it have to be folded again, that seems wrong to fold it twice and I don't want to do anything disrespectful. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Great job a other tractor looking nice u did a great work hope some one will appreciate your work and use it properly thank for a great video
Thank you very much!!! I hope they can appreciate it as well.
that looks like a million bucks now! nice work
Thank you. I’ve had this requested so many time I just wanted to share the few tips I have on detailing. I hope you are doing well!!
Very well done. For the effort it is well with it for the return. Great video!
Thank you very much. I put in a good amount of work on every machine. I just want the new owners to have a good machine that I did my best on.
@@freedommowers420 my Grandfather told me. Boy anything you wanna sell to another person make sure you would be proud to own it. I enjoy you go the extra mile and l know where l am it pays off, sure it does for you to.
The part you hit with the torch You got to try finishing it up with your heat gun like you did your side panels on your hood. Not sure if you've done that but it might equal things out and make it look better.
Nice idea to clean the mower before you go to sell it Alex
Thank you Robert. I want them to look as good as they run.
@@freedommowers420 that is a great idea to do that Alex 😁😁
Good job Alex! Shiny sells!!
Absolutely. Thank you.
Thanks for the pro tips. Very useful!!
Your welcome. I’ve had a lot of requests. I’m glad you enjoyed and stopped by 😎
well done Australia
Thank you!!!
Your channel is really blowing up and I knew it would cause you are really enjoyable to watch, you and me detail our stuff the same way
I really do appreciate that. Your knowledge is vast in so many areas. I really enjoy your content and try to get some tips on how to edit better. I’m always finding ways to improve a little at a time.
You can tell a big difference even on camera. The paint looks darker and a lot shinier.
Great video as always, love the torch technique, will have to try that on my next flip!
In the past I've used the same buffer and buffing compound to do the plastics on my mower. It seems to work quite well. The torch method also does not last very long and is very easy to make it not look as good.
I sometimes use the torch but think the heat gun does a better job keeping the heat even. Thank you very much for the input and watching.
Suh-weet !!!
Nice job, Alex! Thanks so much for responding to viewers requests.
I suspected that using a hot air gun might do a better, more controlled job for reviving plastic but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, so thanks for that too!
Love your videos. I have you and Raleys .
Thank you very much. That means a lot. Raley (Tbone) has a great channel.
Bro lemme tell u I work 12 hours a day and your videos are a great treat after work I do a lil happy dance when I get the new video notifications
Man that comment alone makes it all worth it. I have some channels I do the same thing with. Something to sit back and watch after a long day. Greatly appreciate your support.
Dam looks like a different mower now good job ..
Thank you
Great job 👏. I try to do the same to all my mowers I sell.
Heck yea. I’m hoping some of the tips people will try if they are into this kind of thing.
Thanks for showing how you get everything looking so good. I'm going to try it out on my rider. I think your right it makes a two hundred dollar difference in asking price. Well worth your time. Thanks Alex
Yes I’m happy to share little tips and tricks I learn along the way. I just really enjoy watching equipment turn from non running and crusty to smooth running and detailed up. Greatly appreciate your support as always.
You do such an Excellent work. You take pride of what you do and it shows. Great job.
I do my best. Thank you so much for the support 😎
cerakote trim coat works so good on plastic pieces, wipe on and it'll last years on a lawnmower i'd imagine
Great suggestion!
Great tips.
I’ve had so many people ask I knew it was time to make the video. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Thank you for the support 😎😎
ATF huh? I'm gonna give that a try, thanks man!
Thanks I needed this lesson and will learn more now 😊
Keep the information and advice coming please…
Will do. Thank you as always for the support.
They might be working machines, but there's no reason why they can't look nice..
Our Husqvarna LT151 was beginning to look quite dull, so after I had sanded the footrests to remove rust and spraypainted them.. I machine polished the mover with a medium automotive polishing compound and finished with a round using Autoglym super resin polish.. even the verry dull plastic nosecone (solid orange plastic) came out like new.. 😁(I masked off any decals and textured plastics though)
I found it much nicer to work with a nice looking machine
I belive that the footrests began to rust due to a large amount of dirt/crap which had accumulated under the plastic "inserts" on the footrests, so it would probably be a good idea to clean under them sometimes..
Im glad you made this video Alex. I know from experience that it puts more money in your pocket. If people that are selling non running mowers or machines on market place just washed and cleaned alittle they would make more money, because it atleast looked like they took some care of their equipment. Like you said its not magic, its just paying attention to detail. Your getting real close to 7,000 subscribers. Great job my friend!! 💰🎥✌🇺🇸
Yes just a little effort goes a long way on making the machine look like it was cared for. I’m always excited to see how they turn out. I had so many people ask about making this video. No secrets here. Just elbow grease 🤣. It’s crazy how the channel is growing. Im very grateful.
@@freedommowers420 I personally think its the hard work your putting in. Your editing has improved and the length of videos are spot on as well without missing the theme of the repair. Im really liking the current series. I also think it doesnt hurt when creators make 2 parters on lengthy videos. Just my opinion !✌🇺🇸
Very good video! Never heard of putting ATF on faded plastic parts. Your T1000 mower looks identical to my 2017 Craftsman 42 inch T1200.
Mine has the exact same 420 engine but the body is painted red, including the deck. My frame, seat, and discharge chute is black.
I think I got it on sale new for around $1100.
Thank you for stopping by. Yes the ATF helps shine it up but it’s not permanent. Basically like putting armor all on but lasts a bit longer. Just little tips and tricks to get them looking a bit better.
Nice tractor
Thank you! I’m always excited to see how they turn out in the end.
Awesome
Thank you 😎
Would you consider doing a video on a typical mower deck that has at least half of its top paint gone and rusting and the entire underside rusting? (Not necessarily one which needs structural or metal repairs.)
I just finished doing my very first job like this and I’m really not happy with the results visually, although I’m sure the deck is in much better shape than it was before and it will be protected well for several more years. I want to be able to flip these lawn tractors without the deck being a negative selling point.
Yes I can try to do one in the future. I don’t usually do anything too special, but I’ll show you what I do. Thank you for always being so supportive to the channel.
hey hey hey
Hey!! Thanks for the continued support 😎😎
Hey, you think you can do a toolbox tour/ tools you need for stuff thanks
I’ll have to try and get it organized at some point and show the tools. It’s a mess currently.
Way faster- pressure wash and clean then Rustoleum X2 clear coat on everything. So much less work. The shine lasts for years and matches all paint. It will leave even rusted areas looking so much better. Please try it once. You will never go back to the heat gun and torch with a buffer. The only time I buff is to remove scratches in plastic hoods or to remove the black marks in paint from boot scuffs. I use black X2 or clear coat on the deck chutes. It even adds an extra layer of corrosion protecting you can even use that as a selling point.
I’m going to have to try that. Thank you for the tip!!!!
I have a craftsman riding mower ( red) and nice engine , however the plastic transmission has failed after 8 seasons . Will cost with parts and labor . Wheels and body i good shape also . Keep in garage . 42 in . Cut . What chance is it to sell as is for a few hundred dollars with bad trans ?
@@LarryRoof Have you tried taking the trans off of the tractor and cleaning the top where the linkages are. I’ve seen several videos where grass and sticks get caught in the linkages but work once cleaned out. Without a working trans it won’t fetch $100 but if you sell the parts individually you will make more money.
what would you do - I have a stx 38 JD lawn tractor- hood is in 4 pieces - fix or trash it - the hood i mean- i just got it in yesterday- nice mower
That’s a tricky one. I believe Steve at baldeagle242 channel has a repair video on those hoods. He has excellent tutorials.
LED light bulbs ???
Yes I bought a 30 pack of LED bulbs a while back to replace the standard halogen.
Torching the plastic wont last. Dont do that
Any suggestions? I generally don’t torch them but have in the past. I usually use a heat gun. I’ve wanted to try some other plastic restore products.
