Just finished my build using Kailh BOX Silent Browns and I'm much happier with this board than I was initially. Stabs are terrible out of the box, clipping and lubed really helps.
Oh nice! What are your thoughts on the BOX silent browns? I've never actually tried a BOX silent switch. Totally agree on the stabs being terrible. I wish Drop would do something about it. I ended up replacing mine with some genuine GMK Cherry stabs since my stock ones were unsalvageable
@@AustinV they are excellent. Very tactile, soft, good for working in the studio with coworkers. I switched to them from the Halo Trues. Would recommend for the office. The only stab I'm having issues with is the right shift key from the stock Drop ones. I am currently in a group buy for new stabs but who knows when that will be. My build is using this board with Susawatari key caps as well. Pretty happy with it.
@@ryan-paxton Oh yeah I was also thinking of getting a board with some silent switches (leaning towards sakurios atm) There's a GB for plate-mount stabs? I just ordered the GMK WoB set, so waiting for those to come in
I actually haven't gotten my hands on any holy pandas yet, so I can't say. However, I've got some genuine holy pandas, Drop's round 2 holy pandas, and even the Glorious pandas all on the way, so stay tuned for a video comparing all those! I'll let you know if I prefer these over holy pandas once they all arrive
Thanks! I actually do have a video where I go over the lubing process for a tactile switch: ruclips.net/video/e3BVSMTW4sI/видео.html Do you think I should make a proper tutorial with some voiceover?
How do these compare to the Halo Clears? I have the Halo Clears on my CTRL and I'm looking for a more "premium" switch. Would you say it's worth the upgrade?
I think they're way better than halo clears. The spring weight is just way too high on them. These also sound better, although anything on the CTRL is going to sound pretty harsh
I would personally because it will dampen the sound. I found the Tangerines with the Deskeys films worked wonderfully. So if you want a more thock sound, they are perfect.
When they finally come in 😞 I was able to get in on that GMK Delta extras sale so that’ll prob be the first ones to come in. Also have a set of GMK WoB coming next month I hope
They're very tactile, I would say the bump is pretty prominent and would compare them closer to Zealios than Holy Pandas. Overall, I think it's a really good tactile switch, but I would say you definitely have to lube them. Still trying to work out what my favorite switch is
@@AustinV sorry I meant more along the lines of, when using Kiwis do you prefer them lubed? Filmed? Both? I agree though, it very much is like the Zealios with the tactile bump being right at the beginning, which I really like. Thanks for the reply.
@@GREENWARRI0R Oh gotcha. I don't think film is really necessary since the housing is so tight anyways. I would say lube is a must though. I actually had an issue with my spacebar where it wouldn't come back up since the switch was so stiff. It also make it sound so much less scratchy
@@deluxesofa Hmm I already added some 1/8" neoprene foam to the back of the board and also in between the PCB and plate. Is sorbothane a lot better than neoprene foam?
@@AustinV not alot but definitly better and if think enough it would be a huge improvment this is a video for example but id think he put as think as a sorbothane as he should be in it ruclips.net/video/Z95D18m3WOU/видео.html

@@AustinV thekey.company/ yep it's a C3EQUALZ and TKC collab group buy for custom stabilizers. I chose the lavender and gold combo.
Were you trying to put those on the Drop CTRL? The TKC stabs are screw in, so they wouldn’t work with our boards since the CTRL is plate-mount only
Sounds good for a stock if you ask me

could you make a tutorial video of you lubing these switches please? Btw great video, keep up the good work man!

Do the kiwis have a bump
is a scratchy-ish sound normal when typing with these and other tactiles? is that coming from the tactile part of the stem rubbing the leaf?
Yeah that's pretty normal on tactiles. Certain ones are better than others. Imo the bobas have the least scratchy leafs

@@AustinV I guess I could always reuse these switches if I go for a custom build in the near future, anyways awesome video, thanks for the reply!
Would you say you even need to film them? Do the housings even wobble that much?
Mmm not really. The wobble on these is pretty minimal. I just did it since I just had some films on hand

Which film did you use
When are you going to slap some nice keycaps on this board? The caps that came with the board are decent tho.
