Do they feel "mushy" at all? I don't mind a soft bottom out (I had Outemu Silent Skies and thought the bottom out was fine) but I don't want to be typing on a sponge.
Hmm I would say they're a touch squishy on the bottom out, but I'm a pretty light typer so it doesn't bother me much. I think there are pros and cons with this style of dampener. They're quieter than something you would get in a sakurio/healio/roselio, but comes with a softer bottom out (sorry I haven't tried outemu skies before). I think it's all about finding the right balance for you. If you really value quietness, you should give these a shot
This is the exact video I needed. I got some sakurios for my home keeb since my computer is in my bedroom, my partner would have hated my keeb with non-silent switches, but I mostly just watch videos and games at home. I am waiting on some of these durock silent linears to show up for a work keeb I'm putting together, so this was nice to assure me that it would be acceptable for my office! Pretty excited about them now.
Great review, both content and video quality wise. I've one suggestion about the db meter. It's not very informative as is. It would be better if it just displayed two values - average value for the measurement period and the peak value.
Thanks! I don't think the app that I was using supported that type of displaying. It was actually pretty hard to find a decent and free decibel app. Appreciate the input though!
If I bought durock JWK silents and replaced the side fillers on cannon lavs would they be quieter? Or just replace the durock stems for the lav ones since they are both jwk no? Ideally I'm looking for a muted deep thock but on the quieter side.
Hey I've just done a build with these switches and I'm wondering if you noticed slight loose Leaf rattle (Only noticeable once installed.) I've lubed mine with 205g0 with TX films.
@@AustinV A decent amount of them seem to make the sound :( It's hard to describe. But if I open a switch and like gently tap on the leaf I can hear that It's a bit loose.
WAIT WHAT IF YOU COULD PUT THESE SILICONE DAMPENERS ON ANOTHER SWITCH TO MAKE THEM SILENT AND PUT THEM ON ALREADY SILENT SWITCHES TO MAKE THEM EVEN MORE SILENT?!
I got these switches. Super happy with how quiet and comfortable they are. But I must say that mine definitely have more of a scratchy feel to them compared to normal durock switches, even after lubing. It's not really bad or anything, but it is noticeable.
@@AustinV Yes, but mine are the dolphin colored ones that are more clear rather than smoky black. I didn't think that would make a difference... but maybe it does. Overall though I'm still very happy with the switch.
I heard that you only should lube the slider columns on these types of switches. Cause the lube will ruin the silicone base in the bottom. What part of these did you lube?
Oh I wasn’t aware of that. What do you mean by ruin? Does the lube eat away at the silicone? I ended up lubing all sides plus the legs because I wanted it to be as smooth as possible. Although even if I were to do the slider columns only, the lube would probably eventually get onto the silicone since it’s a gasket that goes around the entire side rail of the stem
@@AustinV I just heard that from the taeha forums. There were a couple guys saying you shouldnt lube everything on the silent switches. I'm building mine once i get my NK65. And i'll only lube the columns and bag lube the springs. And i'll compare the sound.
No, they’re actually more commonly used for switches (linears specifically). I think there’s been a trend where more people have started to use 205 for stabs rather than dielectric grease though
@@AustinV thank you! are the films hard to install? I'm looking to use these switches for a build for a friend, i've heard they aren't great in terms of sound if you don't lube and film them
@@Kristen-sn5hk They're super easy to instal; since they're not super thick and there's no adhesive. You pretty much just place them on the housing and then close it. I would agree that you definitely need to lube and film them to make them as silent as possible.
The switches are so silent even I thought there's a problem with my speaker

Really wish I found this review earlier. Thanks a lot, this was really informative 👍
Thanks! Glad you found it useful! Are you planning on getting some?
Looking forward to the comparison between silent linear switches from Durock and Zeal. I appreciate your comprehensive video on the Durock switches.
Thanks!
@@AustinV also when they become available, can you see how they stack up against the silent alpacas as i have heard they feel and sound identical
@@Kila4nia The silent alpacas should be pretty much exactly the same in just a different color since they're both made by JWK
@@AustinV so should I get the silent alpacas or durock at stock
@@simitsu2587 They're essentially the same thing. They're both made by JWK
Breh the switch is quieter than me breathing in decibel
Rip to the Vader breathers out there
super high quality video, very enjoyable to watch and very helpful.
Thanks so much! Glad you found it helpful!
Did you clean the factory lube before relubing?
Nope, the factory lube was pretty minimal so I didn’t feel the need
Can you use the switch without the dampening if you don't end up liking the feel of the soft bottom out?
Technically you could, haven't tried it tho and it might affect the travel distance

Mahalo for the review and information. I just got to order Tangerines for my first build. #sub
Appreciate the sub! Glad you found it useful. Gl with first build!
This video was super informative and helped my and my friend. Thank you :D

Best keyboard channel on RUclips, jam packed with information in ever video. Great reviews, and amazing videos.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it!
Do this durocks silents feel mushy?
They definitely have a softer bottom out that something like zilents but I wouldn't say they're mushy

how is the wobble on these?
How do you feel about the shorter travel time of these linears?
Tbh I don’t really notice a difference in the travel so it’s not a big deal to me
