Wow, I always wondered about this. Their are so many amazing keyboard channels with decently low sub counts, and I wish they got the recognition they deserve.
I see so many exceptional content creators in the keyboard space, but all of those channels are unfathomably underrated, yours included. Another incredibly entertaining and informational video. Thanks!
To sum up: Dye sub practically tattoos the keys, Double shot goes all the way through, And top print is simply printed on top, making them fade. 1:38 for the best explanation.
Durability is pointless today when keycaps are like fashion items, you’ll never wear out even a simple face printed keycap. The most heavily used set I had only got minor shine on the W key before I got rid of it. But since double shot is so expensive, they’re only available in the most generic designs just with different colours.
Very informative. Do you have any idea why this limitation exists, that you need darker shades to dye-sub the keycap? Why doesn't it work the other way around without dysubbing the whole/most of the key cap?
@@ThylineTheGay Well, you wouldn't see through the keycap... Not even sure HOW you'd make a transparent legend this way. You'd still see the light between the keycaps, kinda like you would with a normal keycap.
Like the man said, unless you got sandpaper for fingers, that's probably not going to be an issue. I imagine the keys would get a bit grody long before the legends go off, which would take longer with a PBT cap than with ABS any damn way.

The cheap caps are nice because they challenge you to learn touch typing before the legends rub off.
Excellent videos, man

the goat
Great explanation!!!
what is the font on the alphabet ?
Five side dye sublimation?
Great video. The only thing I want to see is the effect of dye-sub keycaps on the backlit keyboard. Would love to see those (either bad or good).
well you'd see nothing

There is half pudding keycaps which do this. The top of the keycap is dye sub and the surrounding sides are transparent.

@@AustinV thanks
thank you for your good advice :
Now I know, thanks.
Thanks! I like this video.
Does the print fade over time of use?
No, it is engraved instead of just on top of the key cap, not all the way down but engraved enough that it will still be there after heavy use

Double shot vs dye sub which is better
ofc doubleshot
doubleshot yeah, but if the keycaps are 400 dollars vs 40 dollars, then dye sub wins by miles
Woooww nice information 👍

Is it abs or pbt? What color btw?
@@streaming8362 pbt. milky white i think
