The stone mat is very fragile. If it cracks, theres dust everywhere and you cant fix them. I've used them before but always gone back to cloth mats for the bathroom that I can just throw in the wash afterwards.

We had one of those stone bath mats and it’s overrated. When we first got it my husband and I played with it for like an hour just dumping water on it watching it disappear but it’s a weird feeling under your feet when you get out. And because it’s hard if you drip water anywhere around it you can’t use your feet to push it around the dry the water on the floor like you can with a regular bath mat. And a I have a 4 year old so I have to kneel by the tub to wash her and it killed my knees even with a towel over it. I’m sure it works for some people but it wasn’t my favorite.
That mat actually gets mold if it gets wet frequently, and gets mold very commonly under it. I recommend you still check on it every week or so to see if mold grows so you can deal with it quickly.

To everyone saying their algae matt gets moldy over time...yall need to do two things, glue some silicon feet on it so it can level better onto the ground, it gains a couple of millimiters of clearance from the floor and become more slip resistant and yall also need to turn in a fan or something after the shower because if the bathroom is not well ventilated it'll get super moisty and it'll be a bacteria/fungi paradise. Do both of these things and yall wont need to worry about it anymore.

Where does the water go in the mat? Any standing water can get mold regardless of whatever antimicrobial surface it's on.

I saw the stone slip as he walked off of it. Last thing you need fresh out of a shower is to have your bath mat of all things sliding under you. Furthermore water doesn't magically go away, which means it is absorbing it. If it is holding that much water it becomes a mold factory.
ima say this back of tank is good to keep as clean as can be just in case emergency you can drink it but if you put chems in there then that goes out the window
Bath Mat will turn black mold. you flip under. you see fungus . but it will evaporate more black mold around the bathroom and ceiling too.
My stones have not molded but I do wash them weekly. They can stain but it isn't obvious except when you wet them to wash it. Mine are a dark gray color.

Mine broke in less than a month...the stone part was sprayed on, and the inside was particle board.
This and a bath mat are not needed just use a towel or cloths that are not to dirty but are ready for washing
How about the good old toilet brush to remove the residue? Should be more sustainable and much cheaper.
The mat is good but they get super dirty really easily and cleaning it is hard since it absorbs anything super fast. They normally come in light colors too so that makes it worse
As far as I know the ceramic coat they use on toilet bowls for brands such as American Standard specifically states not to use aggressive chemicals or abrasive brushes since it would remove the protective layer and cause stains
