    Great video and thoughts!
As someone that lives in Australia, I know the importance of SPF, but its very clear that this has become about appearance and not health. When I talk to older relatives about aging is crazy how different our experiences have been when going through our 20s and 30s. I should also add the current generation is more self-centred in general,

ah i can't tell if my reply already posted but i really agree with this! have you noticed a change in how spf is talked about in australia in the last few years? has it become more about appearance or are people still primarily concerned with skin health? you all definitely set the standard for spf quality!

@@carlascalling Luckily we teach kids about sun protection from an early age so the health aspect always has a spotlight but unfortunately, the fear of aging is penetrating the narrative too!

yeah i can imagine in Australia's particular climate and lifestyle that skin health feels more relevant to people (and so it's enough to convince them to wear spf), but not surprised to hear that's changing!

Thank you for all of this!!! 🧴I had a friend who had lung cancer that metastasized to the lining of her brain. It's called leptomeningeal disease and it's 100% fatal. She mentioned that one other type of cancer that tends to metastasize that way is skin cancer (metastatic melanoma.) Then my grandma's best friend died of that same type of metastatic melanoma. After all this, combined with the fact that I was watching dermatologists' tik toks all the time, this fear of skin cancer triggered my OCD, and for a year I became so obsessed with applying and reapplying sunscreen that it was ruining my life. Right now, it's just disgusting to me that young people in Palestine are being literally blown to pieces every single day, and yet "looking older" is such a primal fear that people in the West have. I think the eugenics that the pandemic brought out in our societies have made the fear of aging so much worse than it ever was.

I am so, so sorry to hear this. it makes so much sense that this triggered a real fear in you and started to take over your life. I hope you're doing better now 💗. and i agree, it feels so silly to shame each other for looking 'old' when so many people don't get the privilege to grow old. it genuinely makes me sad to see young girls and women change their faces permanently because of this fear, instead of dealing with whatever else is going on in their lives. it's hard!!
