    890s rides pretty different since it sits lower and has different rake angle. 890r is closer in terms of handling.
    901 rides more like a supermoto compared to 890s.
    also what you need to mention is rally/explorer pack, which really needs to be installed if u wanna ride it like a normal simple bike with linear throttle and without need to turn off MTC each time you start the bike.
    on norden you get cruise control and quickshifter stock, which makes explorer pack around 200e, while on ktm you have to pay around 800e to unlock everything along with cruise control and quickshifter.
    cool review anyway,
    cheers!

    I've been testing the Norden 901, Yamaha T7 and the Aprilia Tuareg 660. The Aprilia was the more appealing bike to me, as it felt easier and more relaxed to handle off road. The one big problem I had with the Norden was the windscreen. It just wasn't right for me and gave lots of turbulence on the road. Still the Norden 901 is a great bike with a cool look.

    • @georgechrysaphinis6761

      Also looking at T7 and Aprilia (Norden too ugly). How do T7 and Aprilia compare? I read that engine heat on Aprilia is quite uncomfortable.

    • @larsgeorgolsen4122
      @larsgeorgolsen4122 2 года назад +1

      @@georgechrysaphinis6761 I tested the T7 for a full week on Grand Canaria. The Aprilia I only tested for half a day. I think they were pretty much the same when it comes to engine heat. You often feel the engine heat a lot on adventure bikes as you need to stretch your legs to reach the ground. In that way you get closer to the engine. Mainly a problem in the city.

    not sure you tried the bike at higher speeds, I have one and the wind turbellence above 140 km its just unbearable... all the wind goes up to your head and shoulders the worst I tried, a naked one has less turbelence on the helmet.... the rest its almost a perfect bike, on road is almost like a sport bike and off road the closer you can get to a dual sport... Amazing bike... if you get one You have to swap the tank protections or get a better skidplate ( AXP or another one) the stocks one is awfull and the mirrors vibrate a lot and direct the wind to the worst place... Cat gets warm and you can feel a lot of warm going to your legs and feet... But dont get me wrong there is no such thing as a perfect bike and this is as close as I have tried it. Amazing Bike, every ride makes me be sure I had the right decision on buyin it.

    This is still on my radar and you’ve helped keep it there. A few comments/points: why, when they’ve routed the exhaust headers neatly round the swing arm do they still have a silencer that sticks out so far? It could have been so much neater and the luggage (which you don’t mention) would fit properly rather than the dreadful lash up that you pay a mint for. Second is that screen. Again, after so long from concept to production why not get it right (and nobody raves about it) or at least offer options for real world users being road riders? The launch of this bike was, among other things, to do with patent issues around the adaptive cruise control which it doesn’t have and is never mentioned. Where did it go? Last but not least, finding a dealer bothered to call you back. It’s not a KTM so my KTM dealer doesn’t stock or support.

    • @HeyAddieImTojo
      @HeyAddieImTojo 2 года назад

      Yeah the dealer thing is weird. I have info since we have both ktm and hqv dealer in my city. Ktm themselves have put up very strict rules related to them being two different companies. They are literally not allowed to have ktm and hqv dealers in the same building if there is not a separate entrance for each of them. So instead they made two different dealerships in different parts of the city.
      Also, i couldn’t not service my 701 and the ktm dealer (it was closer to me) because hqv dealer network used codes different to ktm and they could not get acces to them. It is weird but the chief mechanic at the Ktm dealer told me this when i asked about it.

    I've got just over 7500 miles on my Norden, and I'm convinced that KTM allowed Husqvarna to use it's 890 platform but insisted on sub par suspension so that it would not directly compete with the 890 Adventure R. I blew the rear stock shock and after replacing both front suspension and rear shocks with Tractive components, it's a completely different ride. I live in Colorado and find as much off road as I can.
    They sell it as a tourning bike but honestly, the stock windshield is an epic fail. Now that I have the suspension dialed in, it's blissful, but until Husqvarna offers the 901 with adequate suspension, go for the 890 Adventure R for the price point if you prefer off road. That's how KTM intended it.
    Personally, I'm really bummed I had to upgrade the suspension for another 3400, but now I do have exactly what I want.

    In the beginning of 2023 Husqvarna is coming out with a revised version of the 901. Like the 790 and the 890.
    It also will have a bit more height. And the shock will be changed. Also a bit bigger lcd screen. And on the right rear there will be the possibility of an extra tank capable of holding almost 2 gallon of extra fuell.
    The fitting of the handlebar will also be changed. There will be the possibility to change the height of the handlebar for people that are larger then 1.80 meter. So i will wait for this next model. Although it will be a little more expensive.

I love the Husqvarna - I love to ride a bit higher having more comfort for my legs - but I dont need a 21" front wheels and nobby tires. I know someone will say - "buy a tracer then". Yes - I could do that. But I dont understand why 1% of the riders have to dominate the market for 30% of the available bikes. It makes no sense.

    This would look much better with a rectangular headlight. I’ve got nothing against round headlights at all.. they look great on most bikes such as nakeds, classics and retros but somehow it doesn’t fit well on this one for me. Or maybe it would look better set in slightly. But definitely a modern Harley Davidson Fat Bob/Sportster type rectangular headlight would look good on this. Like it reminds me of how car headlights have mostly adopted newer shapes than the old round ones. Bikes should be doing the same. Not those fugly mosquito head things though.

    Close but no cigar, too many issues on owners’ forums, leaking seals, gearbox/quick shifter, suspension. A real shame, think it looks great but just wouldn’t trust it in the long run.

      This. I'd love to love a KTM...but the reports ive heard from owners, face to face, of various issues regarding reliability and getting those issues fixed by KTM are NOT encouraging.
      When I look at adventure bikes, basically I want re dependability of a KLR with a more powerful engine. KTM could ditch half of the electronic farkles and come out ahead.

    You didn't mention that it's notorious for braking down, and because of covid you wont get replacement parts! Do not buy if you want to ride a bike.

    • @deaiscarlet
      @deaiscarlet 2 года назад +1

      The only serious thing is a rear shock problem in one part in the USA, nothing in Europe. Normal replacement parts are no real problem since most parts are of the KTM. OEM options are not easy to get for the moment but from other brands it's not really a problem to get stuff.

      The thing you should consider before buying at the moment is the lack of a good windscreen for highwayspeeds. There is a higher one coming, they say July, let's wait and see if it will be and if it will be good. Otherwise fun bike. I was torn between the Aprillia and the Norden

    I was totally ready to buy the KTM adv R even though I really hated the styling. And I mean HATE!!! My gawd that thing is ugly! But I love performance and was willing to overlook it. Was ready to put down a deposit on literally the same day I discovered the 901 was even an option. Called the Husqvarna dealer the same day, two out of three 901s were already spoken for and I haven't looked back. I'm now at my first service interval and have had no problems other than the terminals under the rear seat for adding accessories were left without an insulating boot and they touched together causing the fuse to blow. It left me without GPS power until I figured that out. Which was a bit annoying as I started at the wrong end of the bike to find the short. Oh well, I had just installed the GPS, so I figured it was my fault somehow.

      @@vlukacevic My cruise quit working last fall on the last ride before I put it away for the winter. Early in the spring I was on the phone with the dealership and happened to mention it to them and he wanted to verify what lights were coming on so I went out to the garage turned the key on, moved the cruise switch to on and the light lit up. It's been working ever since. No idea what happened there. I do love the bike and I'm about to put my first set of tires on it.

    I like the look and ergos of this over the 890 but there seems to have been no consideration for crash bars with no obvious anchor points. The bodywork isn’t cheap looking so real world off roading will be expensive if you’re going for it. Also with the low slight tanks and additional protection adds to the low down width.

    Why does no one ever talk about the known lack of reliability of these (and KTMs and Ducatis) whenever doing reviews? I assume out of fear manufacturers will stop pandering and catering to you all and carting you all over the place.

    Yeah sure. You gonna pay approximately $10 000 for a bike and then you gonna trash it down on the mountain. Before i bought 1200gs adv (i had a brand new vstrom650 before that) i was thinking adv but all this advertisement like adv bike are bull shit. Too expensive and too heavy. Plus you need off road tires so you can doo even a light non hill mud terein. I don’t know why they push in it still the same stupid story like its adv bikes. No people buy them to go on the road with them. If you wanna real fun adventure bike uou buy dual sport like drz or hard endure. Well that s when the fun begins.
