Camshaft issues of the 790/890/901 engines steered me away from Norden since I keep my motorcycles for a long time. Ended up purchasing a vstrom 800DE Adventure for substantially less money. Other than tubeless wheels and cruise control, the vstrom gave me hard luggage, crash bars and heavy duty skid plate....so I'm not missing much from the base Norden.
I've been in the same boat, got excited about KTM, Husqvarna, Triumph, Aprilia but the Vstrom 800DE and Transalp 750 are the best alround middleweight adventure bikes, if you are looking for reliability, and they are doing that at the lowest price in the category. There are better bikes with better specs out there, more electronics, better suspension but if you are the kind of rider that needs to trust their bike, and does a lot of miles, you just have these two options. The Transalp might be the better choice for me tho, but nothing wrong with Vstrom 800DE, just too tall and heavy for some riders and the engine is hotter than Transalp.
Yes, the windshield is tiny weirdness. I found that there are many options, I like the WRS-Touring windshield on my Norden, really a nice $125.00 option. Yes the seat has challenges thank goodness here in the USA we have the option of the Husqvarna OEM Enduro seat for the Norden. Also SeatConcepts builds nice seats for the Norden. KTM 890 R has really the same shortcomings or close to it and many overlook them for the perceived luxury of owning a KTM. With a new windshield you definitely sit in the Norden, not on top of it as you do on the KTM. The Norden makes a Much nicer Adventure touring motorcycle than the 890 KTM for distance, I’ve tried both and have the Norden in the garage
another pro: low fuel consumption. more cons: super crappy ktm build quality (had to take mine to the dealer three times to fix all issues). quick buttons forget their functions all the time. service costs are as astronomical as for harley-davidson (germany).

U even prefer the standard 890 non r over the Norden for adv touring?
I rode the R 890, the older standard Adventure is no longer available in the states, but much better than R 890.
@@markbevans8564 gotcha. Yeah just the 790 for 24 on. But it was for 23. Is that the one u rode?

Przepiękny motocykl.
This or Triumph 900GT Pro?
Im 199cm tall what is the best adventure bike for me?
Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, Tiger 1200 Rally, Suzuki 800DE, Africa Twin probably.
Africa Twin for sure
u can handle big ones if u can afford. Africa Twin, Scrambler 1200 XE, BM GSA are all good
