Nice video. I'm getting the same rig delivered tomorrow. Really looking forward to it (coming from a 6700k and GTX 1080) . For anyone watching and unfamiliar with how much stress MSFS addon can put on a PC, it can't be emphasised enough that the combination here of Ini Builds KJFK airport addon, traffic addons and the Fenix addon would absolutely bring any last generation PC to its knees (probably would be running at 10 to 20fps and as a stutterfest). This is about as demanding as it gets in MSFS so what might seem to some like no big deal here in terms of FPS, is actually a huge deal. Apparently MSFS 2024 is going to use all cores so that 7800x3D will run amazing when that comes out.
Absolutely agree and like I said in the video this is the “worst it can get”. Enjoy your new rig matey have fun!
Great video, great graphics and performance. I’m considering a complete upgrade. Computer, monitors. My thoughts value for $ similar to yours and Msfs consumes all of my spare time. If you will ; I’d be pleased to know your monitor setup and a description of your build before I look for a builder. My current computer, monitor setup is 3 years old with an upgrade to an rtx 3070, 30 gigs ram and 1T SSD. 3 32 inch 1440p monitors. Many thanks.
@@2007johnrbanks hey John thanks for watching.
My full PC specs are in the description if its easier to view. I've listed my monitors in there as well but I have two 4k monitors, both Freesync compatible NOT fully gsync compatible.
One monitor is 144Hz which is what I output the sim on, which of course means with FG on I can output up to 144FPS (or higher without vsync enabled) if the situation demands. However even with FG on using my rig I don't see FPS as high as 144, probs about 120 again depending on scene and load.
My other monitor is 4k 60Hz (much cheaper) and I use this as my 2nd screen for other stuff. The reason I didn't go fully gsync compatible on my main screen is because of cost, to find a 4k 144Hz fully gsync compatible monitor was double the price and not a cost I was willing to bear considering my PC was £3500 before monitors.
To be fair looking and deciding which monitors I needed was the BIGGEST headache. You will hear a lot of rubbish online about screen tearing and freesync monitors using NVIDIA cards but let me tell you this, do not listen. I have had ZERO issues with screen tearing. All you need to do is ensure the monitor is Freesync with "gsync compatibility" in the specs. In the NVIDIA control panel ensure this option is ticked and forget about screen tearing!
Sorry for the long reply but thought the info would be useful if you are in the purchasing phase because I had terrible trouble finding any source of truth over the internet. If you have any questions about my specs (in the description) please let me know.
This is very petty, and off topic, but I wish we would stop calling unnecessary expenses as “investment”. Nothing wrong with your purchase, assuming its within reason to your own financial situation, but it isnt an investment. Its simply an expense in our hobby
Thanks for your comment!
Enjoyed watching that ... clear and relaxed presentation.
Congrats on the PC upgrade.. nice.
I've just finished building mine ..upgraded from an Intel 7800k to AMD 7800x3d and 4090 suprim, 6000mhz ram in a Phanteks NV7
Absolutely delighted with the performance uplift from my old CPU msfs2020 looks awesome ( in VR as well as pancake mode)
Looking forward to msfs2024 wich hopefully is better optimized
Hi there many thanks for your comment, hope you enjoy your new rig as much as I have.
Cheers dude. Getting the same rig end of the week and this will be my main game.
Hey there thanks for the comment, you won't regret it!!
Superb stuff, and if you're able to spend that kind of cash, then I'd say it's definitely worth it. Also, they reckon MSFS 2024 will be better optimised for modern CPU's, read better FPS, so your investment should well and truly last into the future.
Having bought a new rig in 2022, I can't now justify spending a bunch more on upgrading to the 7800X3D, which would require a new motherboard, and a 4090, so I'm going to wait until later next year when AMD come out with their next gen Ryzen and then jump in, but gee, I'm envious of that clarity and smoothness, it's on a whole different level!
Hey thanks for your comment and totally agree with your upgrade strategy. Like I said in the video I was rocking the same rig for 8/9 years and watched a few generations go by. Can't wait for 2024 version either considering the talk of performance upgrades etc exciting times. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. It’s quite the process buying a new computer from what is already a pretty decent rig. FPS and top graphics disease is as expensive as foot disease is to sailboats
No problem at all! I feel your pain, thats why I made the video for others taking the plunge. I spent a lot of time procrastinating about the setup, components and monitor. I'm sure you will make the right decision, let me know how you get on!
Hey there it’s me again just ordered 4080 7800x3d can’t wait to use it !
Hey there! Enjoy, turn on Frame Generation and enjoy! Let me know how it goes, blue skies!
@@sidplays77 ill do that !!
@@sidplays77 hey! My pc is here…but I can’t get the sim installed yet bcs I have the same loop issue that came with sim update 13…trying my best to solve it I’ll keep you updated
@@FlywithAbdul hi matey, what loop issue?
@@sidplays77 sim update 13 ill send the link, but i fixed it !! Men frame gen is something else
I am flying at the moment with a similar rig than your old one, and I planned to upgrade to the similar rig that you have now. It just looks fab and seems worth every penny!
Hey thanks for your comment! You won’t regret it I’m absolutely over the moon with it. Don’t forget the new version is out in 2024 as well which is meant to be better optimised for smoother performance as well.
Hi Sid, nice video! Looks like you’re using afterburner to track your FPS? Things may have changed in the last few months, but I briefly had a 4070 and I had use nvidias performance overlay to see the fps after frame gen had taken effect. You may see a higher number if you check in there. Enjoy the new rig!
Hey there thanks for your comment, been following your channel from the beginning can see you have started to build a good sized community well done, thanks for the tip!
wauww love it also planning to upgrade somewhere next year
Hello there thanks for your comment, good luck with the upgrade!
@@sidplays77 thankyou very impressive indeed!
Awesome video! Thank you for posting. I know I'm a little late to the party but I have to ask; what made you jump from Intel to AMD in the first place? And, do you find anything appreciably different in your everyday use of the amd vs. Intel? I'm building a new rig and I'm interested in your opinion+1
Hey there thanks for your comment! I switched because after careful research the 7800X3D was the best performing CPU for MSFS coupled with the 4090. My goal when building the rig was simply to get the best performance I could. It’s been 6 months since my build and everyday use has been stellar. I’m so happy with this build and it’s future proof for quite sometime. I’ve done another performance video which is a bit more detailed. Guardami troppo grande aggiornamento! Sono passato da qualche giorno fa da un i7 4700K 24GM Ram DDR3! RTX 2060! a una bestia di:
Ryzen 9 7900X3D a 64 GB di RAM DDR5 a una RTX 3070Ti! Sono davvero contento, incredibile
Hey there thanks for watching, sorry don't understand english please?
ohh, did you build this yourself or prebuilt? Reason i ask i will be getting gigabyte 4090 and the thing that scares me is fitting the GPU sag bracket lol.
Hey there - it was prebuilt from www.scan.co.uk. Highly recommended!
The support is easy. Just put it in with the screws loose, press it up against the bottom of your GPU and tighten the screws. Don't press it up hard, just enough where it's up against it. It might let the GPU sag like less than 1mm, but not enough to break anything
The Mrs. will be glad you spent the money on something you use at home rather than on your mistress.
Hahaha!
Nice video!! I would like to ask how much VRAM is being used in this scenario, with RTX4090? Have you experience any VRAM bottleneck? Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your comment - I wasn’t monitoring VRAM usage but typically it’s about 17/18 GB out of 24. Never had any issues.
Anisotropic filtering to 16
Multisample quality to x4 or greater
Also try DX11, or DX12 but without Frame generation
Is this to fix the shimmering screens? I said in the video I need DX12 for FG, so going down to DX11 won't help. I also need FG on in the big hubs or else its 25FPS, granted I can still turn down a load of settings but why would I do that? :) This rig cost me a fortune I want all the bells and whistles, for a little while at least.
@@sidplays77 my bad then, stick to dx12 and FG, but make to fix the shimmerings, i remember from other games its Anisotropic and Multisampling
totally understand about the rig, i got a 7950x3d, 128gb of ddr5 and a 4080, people told me to ditch dx11 and go 12 with FG, but they also told me to ditch DLSS everywhere and go for TAA
"Frame Generation requires DX12"....valuable piece of information, thx.
and an RTX 40 series GPU, ...as well there is a setting (can't recall) in ctrl panel display, advanced graphics...
Hey thanks for your comment hope you enjoyed the vid!
Why isn't there anything moving at the airport? No traffic whatsoever? No planes landing or taxiing, no ground vehicles etc? No passengers in the terminals? I am on Xbox looking to upgrade to PC and would have expected a buzzing airport. Just wondering if you had turned off traffic,
Hello thanks for your comment. There is AI traffic I call it out in the beginning and show little nav map with tons of traffic?? I call out I use PSXT & Real traffic. Passengers in terminals is configured through airport settings via the ini manager app, can’t remember what I had this set to. I use GSX for ground vehicles which I don’t show in the video.
I appreciate your answer, thank you@@sidplays77, I noticed the traffic settings you mention, but I was wondering why there are no aicraft, besides the one taxiing in the start of the video, and zero animated passengers, acually animated in the video. All is static.🤔
@@TholenTryggeTjenester there is moving traffic but there is a lot of static as well. This is how PSXT + Live traffic works, it injects static and live but I always have the % for live at about 20% because then there are too many aircraft, it tanks performance and they get in your way. If you look at the end of the video when I’m in the runway I call out 2 aircraft which have just taken off. It’s all about balancing traffic injection versus performance to find the sweet spot. I could easily whack up the traffic injection but it’s one of the biggest frame killers, plus live AI just get in your way because they can’t see me so starts to be intrusive.
Thank you for elaborating on that@@sidplays77
Just built a new PC with monitor/cost a very cheap 750€ 🎉🎉runs msfs full graphics
Hey there thanks for your comment, hope you enjoy your new PC like me!
@sidplays77 Hi Sid, would you please tell me what is your motherboard? I´d like to do the same upgrade, but I'm horrified reading the reviews of all AM5 motherboards, on several sites (Amazon, Best Buys, etc) 20% of the reports (reviews) are from users with serious problems with all the MBs I've seen. Besides, in my country (due to the very high price) there are still a lot of old batches of motherboards and I'm a little scared to take the risk. Thanks!
Hey there thanks for your comment, I was about to say my specs are in the description but on closer inspection they aren't! Just fixed that, but for you my friend the motherboard I'm using is ASUS Prime X670-E Pro and I've had zero problems! Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@sidplays77 Thank you so much for your answer, I found your video review very reliable, so I'm also going to "board" on the same ASUS Prime X670-E Pro and also with the 7800X3D which still seems to be the best cpu for flightsimming today. Thanks again! 👍
@@xdiver01 I think you are making a very wise decision, let me know how you get on please!
@@sidplays77 Hello my friend, you asked and I'm back to talk about my brand new machine, now with flightsims installed and running. Fantastic performance with VR compared to what I had previously (i9 9900), well thanks again for the video and the incentive for my PC upgrade. 👍
@@xdiver01 Hey congratulations! Did you get the 7800X3D + 4090?
Was the upgrade worth? you are not getting more then 60 frames i see. so what do you think the gpu worth the money ? or the 7800x3d worth or get a cheaper cpu?
let me know
Less than 60 at one of the most demanding airports in the Fenix with overloaded AI. I consider that a win!
@@sidplays77 so is it worth to get the 7800x3d?

Would a 7950x3d make a difference?? Or is the 7800x3d enough...
I can’t comment on the 7950, for me I’m getting awesome,performance with the 7800 and 4090
Could you do a review with 1440p vs 4K?
Hi there thanks for watching! Unfortunately that's something I can't do at the moment but thanks for asking.
Why is your GPU usage so low?
Hi there thanks for watching! Can't say I've noticed a particular issue, GPU load will depend on scenario...
Because MFS is using single core of CPU mostly and cannot use full potential of GPU. It's heavy CPU limited game even in 4K lol
is it AMD 7800X3D good ? please you tell me
Did you watch my videos?? Yes is the answer
